00:00Do you ever feel guilty for not reading as much as TikTok says you should?

00:03Like everyone else is on their 20th novel this year and you're just trying to finish your third?

00:07I admit, I set a goal in my 2025 years resolution for how many books I wanted to read.

00:12And I am nowhere near finishing it.

00:14And I can't help but feel like social media has made reading into some kind of a competition.

00:19My For You page is filled with people posting their book hauls, TBR piles, and aesthetic book recommendations.

00:25But here's the thing, reading is supposed to be a hobby, not a race or a character test.

00:31If you're currently enjoying a book pretty slowly or if you haven't picked one up in months, that's fine.

00:37Nobody brags about how many movies they watched in a year, so why do I feel like I'm in last place in some kind of a race?

00:43I would also love to go back to a time when I picked up a book based on its description and not how many recommendations it got on TikTok.

00:50But maybe that's just because I hated ACOTAR and that's a hot take for another day.

00:54Anyway, read because you want to, not because the internet says you should.
