00:23understand the charges read to him. Mohamed Nazmi was charged with attempting to murder his wife
00:29by using a knife, knowing that such an act could cause the death of 28-year-old Hanis Sophia binti
00:36Hamdan. The offence was allegedly committed in a room of a house at Tamantunas Muda in Sungai Ara on
00:43August 27. The charge is framed under Section 307 of the Penal Code and the accused may face the
00:50maximum prison term of 20 years if convicted. The court fixed October 8 pending medical report
00:57from hospital Bahagya. The suspect allegedly slashed the neck of his 28-year-old wife,
01:03who is also a teacher, before injuring himself with a knife in the couple's bedroom at their home.
01:09The victim's mother, who heard her daughter's screams, rushed in to find the woman pinned down.
01:15She quickly pulled her daughter off the bed to save her. It is learned that debt problems were
01:19believed to have triggered the quarrel before the suspect attacked his wife.
