Manhunt for alleged Porepunkah gunman enters ninth day

The search for alleged gunman Dezi Freeman has entered its ninth day with officers continuing to comb rugged bushland in north-east Victoria.

00:00I'm out the front of the police staging area now this is about 10 minutes away from the incident

00:08that occurred last Tuesday. We're in the second week now of this manhunt for the alleged shooter

00:16Desi Friedman. This is one of the largest operations in Victoria Police's history.

00:22This morning there has been a hive of activity. This is an operation that does not sleep. The

00:27Bearcat has been seen in here this morning as well as for the first time for us seeing dirt bikes.

00:35They are being loaded up onto the back of trailers this morning. Now in terms of information from the

00:42community and where that's leading for investigations, police have told us that there have been

00:48over 400 pieces of information that have been provided by the community. They've told us that

00:54every piece of information will be investigated and looked into and they are continuing to appeal to

01:02the community to say that if you know anything, any minor detail, big or small, to please report it in.

01:10You just don't know where that may lead to. They are also, as of yesterday, really making sure that

01:17the community understands that if anyone has been found to be assisting or harbouring the alleged shooter

01:24Desi Friedman in any capacity, that they too could be facing serious charges. So as of this morning,

01:31this is day nine. The hunt does continue and we will let you know if anything further develops.
