Shrewsbury 0 Accrington 0 - Ollie Westbury analysis
Transcript
00:01Shrewsbury's wait for a League 2 victory continued here in the pouring rain at the Crowdmeadow
00:06as they were held to a goalless draw against Accrington Stanley.
00:10It was the first time Town had taken a league point since the opening day of the season
00:14and Shrewsbury, who improved last week at Swindon, then got a victory in midweek against Chelsea under-21s,
00:27kind of went another step, performed well, created quite a few chances, XG was good,
00:32it was much better than Accrington Stanley's but could not quite put that finishing end product on the end of moves.
00:40They had a countless number of good opportunities but they kind of squandered them all,
00:44a far cry from where we were at the start of the season when it did not look like they would ever score
00:48but they've started to create some clear-cut opportunities.
00:51It feels like the team's evolved slightly in terms of it's managing to get on the front foot.
00:58They're getting in the opposition's half, there was a period in the second half,
01:01probably for the first 22 minutes where I don't think Accrington Stanley touched the ball
01:06in Shrewsbury's final third, such was the fact that Town had managed to pen them in
01:11and keep them in their own penalty area defending.
01:17Town, good from a defensive perspective too, obviously not conceding, second clean sheet of the season,
01:23so important in that aspect as well.
01:26Town, obviously a couple of, a new face in the start of the 11th, Ishmael Kaby,
01:32who arrived on Sunday from, Sunday, sorry, arrived on Friday evening from Arsenal on a season-long loan.
01:39He looks like he has a real turn of pace, the real ability to kind of beat a player
01:43and get in down the sides and Isaac England got his first start in league football
01:51and he was absolutely outstanding in the centre of the park.
01:53He is going to be one hell of a player, the young 17-year-old Shrewsbury fan, Shrewsbury-born player.
01:58He looks really, really good, really comfortable on the ball, keeps it ticking over
02:02and has made a real positive impact since he came into the side, so he deserved his start.
02:09Back to go off to see Michael Apperton, all the reaction at stopstart.com.
