Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India in December, AFP reported, citing Kremlin officials. The trip comes as New Delhi faces mounting US tariff and sanction threats from President Donald Trump over its oil trade with Moscow. Putin had earlier accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation in May, though the visit date was pending confirmation.

00:00Now, amid the big global trade tariff war that we are seeing, Russian President Vladimir Putin all set to visit India.
00:07The Kremlin, in a statement, said Putin will be visiting India in December.
00:11Vladimir Putin will be holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he'll be in India.
00:16Prime Minister Modi and Xi, along with Putin, these three people will be meeting at the SCO summit.
00:23This very crucial meeting will take place on the 1st of September.
00:26Now, this is a coming together of sorts that we are seeing of Russia, China and India.
00:31And this in the wake of the tariffs that are now being imposed, not just on India, but across the globe on various countries by the U.S. administration.
00:41Prime Minister Modi, Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, they'll be meeting at the SCO summit on the 1st of September.
00:47My colleague Shivani is with me on the story.
00:49Shivani, we are now seeing, you know, groupism of sorts taking place.
00:53And every country has the right to think about that country first.
00:56Just like America is thinking about America first, India also has the right to think about India first.
01:02India is thinking for India first and also deciding upon its oil imports in terms of the dynamics of the globe and the national interest.
01:13That's what the message has been from India's side, even after a lot of statements that have come from the United States.
01:19And you've also been covering this commercial downturn with the United States and the tariff war that's going on.
01:29And amid that, when India is intensifying its endeavour to make its sky stronger with its partners like Russia, it's very important messaging also here.
01:40And President Putin will be in India. He'll be travelling to India this year in December.
01:45He'll be holding a very important annual summit. He'll be meeting Prime Minister, of course, in the SCO meeting also on 1st of September.
01:52And where there will be discussions about his meeting in India in December this year.
01:58We know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already visited Russia two times last year.
02:02There were very important crucial meetings.
02:04And when it comes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Putin, they've always remained in touch in terms of their phone calls, their conversation exchanges, whenever they meet on the global forum.
02:15So this, in fact, is a very important message also that goes to United States, in fact, that India is intensifying its efforts and it is strengthening its ties with its all-weather partners like Russia.
