00:00Men of the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State have arrested a soldier with the Nigerian Army, Dominic Horace, for alleged kidnapping in the state.
00:09According to Anambra State Police Command, the suspect confessed he deserted from the Nigerian Army or absconded from military duties since November 2024,
00:18adding, four suspected members of the Biafra Secessionist Armed Group have been shot dead in a joint operation with the operatives of Agony Chamber Local Vigilante Group that lasted over 15 hours at our community in the Arumba North local government area of Anambra State.
00:35According to the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, S.P. Tochukwakenga, in a sustained effort to rid Anambra State of criminal elements,
00:45police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad or Kuzu in collaboration with the Anambra State Vigilante Group, AVG, Agonekemba,
00:53acting on credible intelligence, stormed a secessionist, terrorist camp at our Arumba North local government area of Anambra State in the early hours of 21 August 2020.
01:05During the well-coordinated operation that lasted for more than 15 hours, the operatives successfully dislodged the insurgents,
01:14rescued a victim who had earlier been kidnapped and held hostage in the camp.
01:19It was reported that despite the payment of a ransom of 20 million nairas only by the victim's family,
01:25the hoodlums aborted his release until he was eventually freed by the joint security team.
01:30In the fierce gun battle that ensued, four of the criminal elements were neutralized.
01:36Exhibits recovered at the camp include
01:38Two pump action guns, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one K-2 assault rifle, one locally made hunter gun,
01:47one radio transmission box, three locally made improvised explosive devices, IEDs, two empty gas cylinders,
01:55two wraps of cable wires, three bags of 50 kilograms rice, one driver's license, one national identity card,
02:03one black Lexus RX 350 jeep with registration number ACA 340 mega amperes,
02:10three Toyota Camry cars with registration number ABC 268FQ, EKY 151CD and FGG 706ME.
02:22Also recovered a, one black Toyota Camry car, five mobile phones, Infinix X6716B,
02:31Techno Spark KL4 and three analog phones, sleeping materials, one desert boot, one big cooler, and a roll of tarpaulin.
02:40The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikyo Aorotugu, while assuring Hudi Anamra that the command remains resolute
02:47in its commitment to ensuring safety and security has assured that extensive operations are ongoing in the area
02:53to track down and arrest other fleeing suspects as well as destroy other criminal camps in the state.

03:17Tuchakua said, the Anamra State Police Command, in a swift operation on the 27th of August 2025,
03:25arrested five suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate following a report
03:31that a victim was abducted on his farmland at Isyagu, Orca, and later released after ransom was paid.
03:38Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives attached to the rapid response squad Okuzu stormed the
03:45hideout of the suspects of Notoko, Orca, which led to the arrest of the following persons,
03:50Michael Inwabodo, male, 30 years.
03:54Ez Friday, male, 29 years.
03:58Uche Akolo, male, 23 years.
04:01Shindu Gilbert, male, 29 years.
04:05And Dominic Oras, male, 38 years.
04:08A confessed deserter of the Nigerian army.
04:11Exhibits recovered from the suspects include
04:14six automatic pump action guns,
04:1763 rounds of live cartridges,
04:19one microscope,
04:20five machetes,
04:21one military cap,
04:23two police tear gas canisters,
04:25handcuffs,
04:26a robber's rocket launcher,
04:27criminal charms,
04:28three motorola walkie-talkies,
04:31one jackknife,
04:32one power bank and cash sum of
04:3426,000 nairas only.
04:37During interrogation,
04:39one of the suspects,
04:40Dominic Oras,
04:42confessed to having deserted the Nigerian army in November 2024.
04:47Meanwhile,
04:48necessary inquiries have commenced with the authority to guide police action and prosecution of other suspects.
04:54The commissioner of police,
04:56C.P. Ikiyo A. Oratogu,
04:58while commending the operatives for the gallantry,
05:01urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant and to continue to report suspicious activities to the police for prompt action.
