00:00There's rival clans and there's rivals within the clan, and you have to find your place.
00:05And I think that's what makes it so intriguing to tell these stories.
00:11I mean, we still want to make Lord John.
00:14I mean, that's always in the mix.
00:15And we might have a couple others.
00:17There might be a few.
00:19I might have thought of a couple others.
00:20There's a couple others we got on the table.
00:22But yeah, Lord John would be, I mean, obviously, there's books and it's out there.
00:27Well, now that they're calling it the Outlander universe, I feel like we have to kind of...
00:31We've got to fill that up with stars, don't we?
00:34Got to match Marvel.
00:35Yeah.
00:36I think so.
00:37I mean, I didn't write it or create it.
00:39I just think from a casting perspective or just doing a spinoff that's not Lord John, because I feel like Lord John's own little book series.
00:47But I think it is daunting.
00:49I mean, we have been very lucky to have had 10 plus years of Outlander, eight seasons.
00:54And it is a show that so many people are fans of.
00:59And to start something new, you don't want it to be compared in a way, but you still want to feel in the same family, but for it to stand on its own.
01:07And I think Matt and the writers have done such a great job creating stories that really do do that.
01:11Instead of one central love story, we've got two.
01:13And they're told in such unique ways.
01:15And it feels so fresh.
01:17Yeah, I'm just...
01:17I was a little nervous, but actually now I feel like this one stands on its own.
01:21You know, for me, yes, there's a ton of pressure, certainly in the initial stages, you worry quite a bit about it.
01:30And then it gets made, you know, when you finally start putting it out there a little bit, you worry that people are, you know, I don't know, good and bad, but, you know, they're just not going to respond to it.
01:41And, you know, knock on wood, thankfully, the response that we've had so far has been really positive.
01:49So it feels like there's a weight coming off my shoulders a little bit.
01:53I said this before, you know, back in Outlander, I remember saying, there's no way we're going to find Jamie Frazier.
01:59He's going to be the FedEx guy.
02:00How are we going to find him?
02:01And we found Sam first off.
02:03And the same thing happened here.
02:04I thought, how are we going to find another, like, Scottish actor?
02:09And, you know, because that was the hope.
02:11Jamie Roy was the first one we cast.
02:12And I've told this story many times, but his name is Jamie Brian Roy.
02:16And Jamie Roy is a pseudonym for James Frazier in the book.
02:18So it felt kind of meant to be, and it felt like this would be so hard, but everything just really came into place.
02:25I mean, casting Sam Redford and Seamus Ross as the brothers, as soon as we saw their chemistry read, it was so they had such a good connection in there, this kind of love-hate moment.
02:36And then, you know, in terms of Jeremy and Hermione, you know, we found out they had known each other for years.
02:42Hermione is someone we tracked for a while because we had looked at her back in Outlander days and had always loved her acting.
02:48And she just has such a, the way she holds herself is kind of in the vein of Katrina.
02:53It's hard not to compare all the actors, and they should stand in their own right.
02:57They're all tremendous actors.
02:58But they did all have something that kind of was reminiscent of their legacy characters.
03:04So, yeah, it actually, I was so daunted by this time around, but I'm so pleased.
03:08I mean, this cast is phenomenal.
03:09Well, I've actually pitched this to Starz as Romeo and Juliet meets The Sopranos in that there's a lot of family dynamics involved.
03:20You can also throw in succession if you want.
03:23And a lot of the drama comes from within rather than without.
03:27And I think with Outlander, most of it came from, you know, without.
03:31It was who was attacking the Frasers.
03:33And that family always bonded together to fight it off.
03:36And there wasn't a lot of struggle within the family other than, you know, disagreements.
03:41You know, I mean, Jamie and Claire obviously disagree on a few things when they get in their moments.
03:45But you never think, oh, they're going to hurt.
03:48They're never going to hurt each other.
03:49They're never going to break up.
03:51And with this, that family dynamic is, we always say that there's rival clans and there's rivals within the clan.
03:58And you have to find your place.
04:00And I think that's what makes it so intriguing to tell these stories.
