00:00Can Chelsea really afford to keep all of these players?
00:02Are Arsenal shopping in the right window?
00:04And is Messi heading back to Barcelona?
00:07Is he really?
00:08I'm Matt Froelich here from 442 and here's what's on our feed.
00:14Okay, first up, we've got some transfer news from Chelsea
00:17because where else would transfer news be coming from in the Premier League?
00:20The team that won't stop spending and have such a ridiculously inflated squad,
00:25I've no idea what they're supposed to do with it.
00:26Anyway, João Pedro is the latest name to be not linked with the club,
00:30to be signing on the dotted line.
00:32And it now takes Chelsea's spending from Brighton up to £282 million
00:39if you include the money they paid for Graham Potter a few years ago.
00:43This is absolutely insane.
00:44You've got João Pedro, you've got Marco Correa,
00:46you've got Robert Sanchez, Moises Caicedo, of course, how could you forget?
00:50And a few other backroom staff that have gone along with it.
00:52That is an insane amount of money, but who is getting the better deal out of it?
00:58Well, basically, I've thought about this and there's two sides to both arguments.
01:02Let's start with Chelsea.
01:03Firstly, they're getting very good players.
01:06Yeah, Sanchez aside, they are getting some very, very good players.
01:09Cucurello, I think, has been good.
01:10He's definitely come into his own at Chelsea.
01:12Caicedo is one of, if not, the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.
01:17I've said it, there's going to be a lot of arguments, but I really think he is.
01:20He costs a stupid amount of money, but he's very, very good.
01:23On top of this, they basically don't have to do any scouting.
01:26I know that sounds so mad, but if you know that there's a team who go out there,
01:32go to all corners of the world and are able to source really, really good players,
01:37and of course, there are a few players at Brighton who aren't very good when they come in,
01:40but their strike rate is unbelievable, then you might as well go and buy those players.
01:45Chelsea could have bought Caicedo from anyone else, but it would be a bit of a gamble.
01:49Once they know how good he is, yes, you have to pay over the odds,
01:52but they also know what they're getting, if that makes sense.
01:56I mean, look, Chelsea, by their own recognition, haven't exactly had the,
02:00let's say, the best of scouting reports over the past 10 years or so.
02:04Off the top of my head, the likes of Lucas Piazzon and Marco van Ginkle,
02:08both of them were supposed to be the next big thing.
02:11Chelsea bought them in at a young age, and they didn't really go anywhere for one reason or another,
02:15probably due to the high turnover of players.
02:17But, you can see that Chelsea are really interested in youth,
02:20tying their players down to long-term contracts,
02:22so buying from Brighton kind of makes sense.
02:25I mean, the real thing to do would be go to Brighton and buy their whole scouting department,
02:28but there you go.
02:29On the flip side of this, like I did mention,
02:32it's costing Chelsea a lot of money.
02:33Yes, they could go and get Moises Caicedo for a couple of million,
02:36and then they paid £115 million.
02:39They could have got Jean-Pedro for less, and now they're paying £60 million.
02:42From Brighton's perspective, though, this is where it gets a little bit more interesting.
02:46So, actually, someone has replied to this tweet with basically a good summary of what I'm thinking.
02:52This looks brilliant from a pure business perspective, but not from a football perspective.
02:56I understand Brighton ain't that big.
02:58That's a bit harsh.
02:59I understand that these players want to leave for a bigger pay packet
03:12for playing at a higher level for Champions League football,
03:15but on the flip side of it, are Brighton ever really going to be challenging
03:18for anything higher than eighth they finished last season?
03:21Maybe sixth?
03:22If they keep selling their best players, not only selling their best players,
03:25but selling the best players to the teams that are directly above them in the table,
03:29at what point do Brighton try and keep hold of one or two of these
03:33and really build a team that's going to be capable of breaking into the top six?
03:37But yeah, as for Chelsea, everything's a bit mad because they keep on signing players.
03:41Right, so I've got it written down here.
03:42Pedro Neto, De Lapp, Cole Palmer, Sterling, Madueke, Jackson, Nkunku, Mudric.
03:49Ban pending.
03:50Now, João Pedro and Barna Gittins, plus a couple of youngsters on the edge of the squad,
03:54including Mark Gu, who might be on his way to Ipswich by the time this video comes out.
03:58Kendri Pez, I think that's how you pronounce it.
04:00Tyreek George as well.
04:01Oh my God, Ajao Felix, who's definitely leaving the club,
04:04so kind of leave his name off the list.
04:06There are so many players who have not only just joined, like I said,
04:10so probably slightly reluctant to leave on a permanent basis,
04:13but also on huge contracts for such a long period of time.
04:16I don't know how Chelsea are going to fit them in.
04:19It's just, I just can't see it being sustainable.
04:21But hey, there you go. Chelsea want to spend their money.
04:24And like we mentioned, Brighton are more than happy to accept it.
04:28Moving on to another club in Crystal Palace,
04:31who I feel like are in a little bit of a similar position to Brighton,
04:35where they cannot necessarily offer players an extended period of success.
04:39Namely, Hebereche Eze.
04:41Now, he is the man who every single team is looking at.
04:44Certainly the bigger teams are looking at him thinking,
04:46you know what, we could do with a player like that.
04:48And two of the biggest ones are Arsenal and Spurs.
04:50And it looks like Arsenal are the ones who have made some serious contact with his representatives.
04:56That's according to, well, you see in the news everywhere,
04:58Fabrizio Romano has been tweeting about it.
05:00There's been a nice little repost on 433 as well,
05:02saying that initial talks have taken place over the weekend.
05:06And my question here for Arsenal fans is,
05:10is this the shop window that you're supposed to be looking in?
05:13Is left winger the answer to all of your problems?
05:15There were plenty of people underneath our previous video
05:18saying that it wasn't necessarily the finishing of chances,
05:21it was the creation of chances from the left wing
05:25that were really letting Arsenal down
05:27because Martinelli and Trossard aren't consistent enough,
05:30whether it's staying fit or just playing to a really high level.
05:33And it actually kind of makes sense.
05:35Bakayasak on the right-hand side is so good
05:38that when teams manage to mark him out of the game,
05:41whether a left-back has a good game, like Nuno Mendes,
05:43or whether they double or triple up on him
05:45and he can't quite have the same impact that he normally has,
05:49there isn't really anything else.
05:51When I think of Martin Odegaard dominating games, running games,
05:54it always seems to be in conjunction with Saka,
05:57never really kind of the whole Odegaard-Martinelli link-up.
06:00It's not as strong on the other side.
06:02So actually, Eze seems like a very, very good idea.
06:05On the left wing, very creative,
06:07can help to create not only a higher amount of chances,
06:10but also a higher quality of chances,
06:12that then, once they add a striker into the squad,
06:15Arsenal will probably be flying.
06:17In fact, I think they'll have a fairly good shot
06:19of sustaining a better title challenge
06:21if not only they've got a striker to finish it,
06:23which is the obvious answer,
06:25but also if they've got a left winger who's creating more chances.
06:28Like I said, the reason that I think Eze will leave Crystal Palace
06:31is not only because he's playing at a higher level,
06:33they can't guarantee a success,
06:34he gets to play in the Champions League,
06:36and let's face it, he gets a bigger wage packet.
06:38On top of this, there is a major issue
06:40that could affect Palace's spot in the Europa League next season.
06:45I'm sure you've seen murmurings of this,
06:46but nobody can own the majority of shares
06:50in two clubs in the same competition.
06:52In this case, it is Crystal Palace and Lyon.
06:55John Texter is the name of the American businessman
06:58who owns the majority shares in Palace and Lyon.
07:01Yeah, so falls foul of this rule.
07:03Both of them qualified for the Europa League.
07:04So because of this, he sold his stake in Palace,
07:09but he sold it recently,
07:11which is after the deadline that UEFA set
07:13for next season's competition.
07:15I believe it was back in March the 1st,
07:17where you had to have not been part of two clubs.
07:20Obviously, back then, he'd have had no idea
07:22that Crystal Palace were going to end up in the Europa League,
07:24but they did through winning the FA Cup.
07:28And lastly, you've got Lyon's appeal
07:30against being relegated to the 2nd French division.
07:35But the reason it affects Crystal Palace
07:36is because Lyon finished 6th in their division.
07:39Crystal Palace finished 10th,
07:41which means that Lyon would get the spot.
07:43So, it all depends on whether or not Lyon are relegated
07:47to the 2nd division in France.
07:49If they are, Palace get the spot.
07:50If not, and their UEFA say that,
07:54unfortunately, the shares haven't been sold in time,
07:56Crystal Palace will not be in European competition.
08:00And that would mean that Nottingham Forest
08:01go from the Conference League up to the Europa League,
08:03and Brighton, who we talked about
08:05not being in European football,
08:06will actually go into the Conference League,
08:09because they finished 8th,
08:10so then technically would move up one spot.
08:12Next up, and this is less news,
08:14more just funny,
08:15and it's Fluminense's Twitter account,
08:18who, after beating Inter Milan 2-0, by the way,
08:21and being the only Brazilian side
08:23to make it through to the quarterfinals
08:25of the Club World Cup,
08:26they have tweeted,
08:27not only Botafogo, but also Flamengo as well,
08:30saying,
08:31how's the weather in Rio?
08:33It's the kind of shithousery I like to see.
08:35I'm all for it.
08:36You just know that some social media admin
08:38has sat behind his computer and gone,
08:40this is going to be funny.
08:41I'm going to put this out there
08:42and cause an absolute storm,
08:43and it's brilliant.
08:44I'm all for it.
08:45I know if you're a fan of Botafogo or Flamengo,
08:47you're probably going to be really annoyed,
08:48but I think it's quite funny.
08:49That's some good shithousery.
08:51And actually,
08:51if you see any more good shithousery online,
08:53leave it in the comments below.
08:54I'm going to put it in next week's video.
08:56Right, some more news.
08:57Messi back to Barcelona.
08:59Oh, I've done it.
09:00I've done,
09:01I've gone for the clickbait.
09:02I've fallen for it.
09:04Apparently,
09:04according to some journalist
09:06who I clicked on his page,
09:08is such a huge Messi fan,
09:10it'd be kind of weird
09:10to be spreading lies about him.
09:12Anyway,
09:12he said that
09:14Messi is waiting
09:15for a short-term offer
09:16and is going to weigh up
09:17a move back to Europe,
09:19potentially Barcelona,
09:21before the World Cup
09:22because the end of the MLS season
09:23is later on this year
09:24and that's when his deal expires
09:25with Inter Miami.
09:27And yeah,
09:27he's going to head
09:28maybe to Barcelona
09:29for six months
09:30to stay match fit
09:30and at the top level
09:31of European football
09:32before heading to the World Cup.
09:34Firstly,
09:35this confirms
09:35he's going to be
09:35at the World Cup
09:36with Argentina.
09:37One more final
09:38Messi-Ronaldo showdown.
09:40It felt like the last World Cup
09:41was the last one
09:41but here we are.
09:42Do I believe this?
09:44No.
09:45I believed it
09:46for about 10 seconds
09:47and then I definitely
09:48didn't believe it
09:49when Inter Miami came out
09:50and they clarified this
09:51with a club statement
09:52that said
09:52Messi is under contract
09:53until the end of 2025.
09:55The reality is
09:56that both parties
09:57are interested in
09:57continuing this relationship.
09:59The necessary steps
10:00are being taken.
10:02He'll probably get
10:02an extended deal.
10:03All eyes of the footballing world
10:05are on North America.
10:06That includes Canada, Mexico
10:07and the US
10:08for the World Cup next summer.
10:09Messi is
10:10the poster boy of the team,
10:12the poster boy of the league.
10:14He is just the poster boy
10:15of all sponsorship
10:16and all advertisers
10:18heading into next year's World Cup.
10:21It's just such an obvious one
10:22that he'll stay in the US.
10:23I actually think he'll stay
10:24complete the World Cup,
10:25complete the season
10:26and then retire
10:26at the end of next season.
10:28That's just my own little take on it.
10:30I can't see him leaving.
10:31Right though,
10:31a couple,
10:32a few more bits
10:33before we are done.
10:34The first
10:34is John Duran.
10:37I was amazed
10:39when he left Aston Villa
10:40and went to Alain Cire,
10:41actually partnered up
10:42with Cristiano Ronaldo
10:43in January.
10:44I'm even more amazed
10:45that he's headed back
10:46to Fenerbahce
10:46on a one-year loan.
10:49I don't,
10:49I mean,
10:49I do get it from his side,
10:51but it kind of feels
10:52like he's done
10:53the footballer's career
10:54in reverse.
10:55Like,
10:55you go throughout your career,
10:56you get better and better
10:57and better and better,
10:58you have a good career
10:58and then you maybe
11:00go to Saudi
11:00and take a crazy last payday
11:02and then you're kind of done.
11:03He's done it reverse.
11:05He's 21 years old,
11:06he's got the big payday
11:08and now he's going to go on
11:09and have his career in Europe.
11:10He's back with Fenerbahce
11:11and I wouldn't rule out
11:12him leaving Alisson
11:13permanently
11:14at the end of next season.
11:15I mean,
11:16it does kind of make sense
11:17because when you rely
11:18on a big payday
11:19at the end,
11:19you're relying on staying fit,
11:21staying injury-free,
11:22being good enough
11:22when you arrive
11:23in your mid-thirties
11:24and also you
11:26sort of relying on
11:27Saudi Arabia
11:28still pumping money
11:29into their football
11:30in, you know,
11:30he's 21 years old,
11:3110, 15 years time.
11:32We all thought
11:33when Oscar moved to China
11:34that players would be
11:35doing that forever
11:35and look where Chinese football
11:37is at now.
11:38Exactly.
11:39So, yeah,
11:39he's taken the payday first.
11:41Apparently,
11:41he's earned over
11:41£8 million in the last
11:43six months
11:43and now he's back.
11:45Now he's back
11:45in some European football
11:46under Jose Mourinho,
11:48no less
11:48and that just adds
11:49a little bit of drama
11:49to the story.
11:51Lastly,
11:51this has made me laugh
11:52for a week.
11:53And I'm not actually sure
11:54it's that funny
11:55but I do think it is
11:56that Steve Bruce
11:57is the manager
11:58at Blackpool
11:59in the lower reaches
12:00of English football.
12:02Most of you
12:02know who Steve Bruce is.
12:04His assistant coach
12:04is Steve Agnew.
12:05His first team coaches
12:06are Steve Clements
12:07and Steve Dobby
12:08and his goalkeeper coach
12:09is Steve Banks.
12:10What are the chances
12:11of five Steves
12:12making up some sort
12:13of coaching team
12:15at Blackpool?
12:16I just,
12:18this tweet is amazing.
12:19Someone called Keith Leith
12:20has said
12:21it's going to be an ordeal
12:22when someone says
12:22morning Steve
12:23at Blackpool next season.
12:25Why are there so many people
12:26with the same name
12:27and is this the criteria
12:28for the club?
12:29I've no idea
12:30but it's brilliant.
12:31This is the sort of
12:31football nonsense
12:32you love to see.
12:33Anyway,
12:33that's all from me
12:34for this week
12:34and that is
12:35what's on our feed.
12:36Don't forget
12:36you can let me know
12:37all your thoughts
12:38in the comment section
12:38down below.
12:39Leave anything crazy
12:40you've seen on the internet

12:42but until then
12:42I will see you next time.
