00:00Want to know a cheat code to becoming a millionaire?
00:02Sell things to rich people.
00:03They pay more.
00:04Today I'm breaking down how the rich buy,
00:06why selling them is easier than you may think,
00:09and giving you the exact blueprint
00:11to sell arguably the most luxurious thing on the planet.
00:14Do you want to use a 24-karat plated bathroom?
00:16What the fuck?
00:17Of course I do.
00:18Plus, we'll be meeting my bud, Tia,
00:20who bought a private jet brokerage for just $8,000
00:23to learn not only how to do it,
00:25but how to fly in these things for cheap.
00:27But first, you guys got to see what they pick you up in.
00:30So why is selling to the rich one of the best ways
00:32to make more money?
00:33Well, they want you to sell them something,
00:35and they buy more than once,
00:37and they never argue about the price.
00:39So you can have about 1,000x the reward
00:42with the same amount of effort.
00:43This is why the richest salespeople in the world
00:45sell things to rich people.
00:47Planes and yachts and automobiles.
00:49Why? Because you make more when you sell it.
00:51Now, I know a lot of you guys are thinking,
00:53but I'm not that rich.
00:54I can't afford that stuff, so how could I sell it?
00:56Remember this.
00:57You don't have to be rich to sell stuff to rich people.
01:00Tip.
01:01I always look for the rule of three.
01:03At least three examples of a business model
01:05that works by other humans that are like me.
01:08For instance, my friend Jesse Eitzler.
01:10Jesse Eitzler wasn't born rich,
01:12but he became a billionaire damn near
01:14by selling private jet access to the rich
01:16through his company Marquis Jet
01:17without owning a single plane himself.
01:19Or perhaps the most famous, Richard Branson,
01:21who started Virgin Atlantic in 1984
01:23with basically no money, no aviation experience,
01:26by simply leasing a second-hand Boeing 747.
01:29Once again proven, you don't need to own a jet
01:31to launch an airline.
01:32So now we are on-site at Tia's Brokerage,
01:34and I kind of want to hear,
01:35how does one start this sort of business?
01:37I guess I would talk to you.
01:39Welcome.
01:40Thank you for having me.
01:41Thank you for having me.
01:42So good to see you.
01:43How did you start a jet brokerage business?
01:45Pure grit and determination.
01:47Decided that it was an industry I wanted to be in.
01:49Less than 5% of private aviation companies
01:52are ran by women,
01:53and so that motivated me even a little bit more.
01:55What did you actually buy?
01:57The company, the brand, the website,
01:58the bones of the business
01:59were built up by someone in aviation.
02:01I've never flown a plane.
02:02I'm not a pilot.
02:03I was new to aviation.
02:04They put it on the bidding site for $80,000,
02:07but it was on auction.
02:08So I offered him half of what he had it listed for.
02:12He said no.
02:13So I did the minimum bid,
02:14and I won at the minimum bid.
02:15So the first offer is $80,000.
02:17You offered $40,000.
02:19He says no.
02:20So you say, well, I'm just going to wildcard it.
02:22$8,000.
02:23$8,000.
02:24And you got a business.
02:25Yep.
02:26How many planes do you own?
02:27We don't own any planes.
02:28You talk rich people into letting you use their jets?
02:31Exactly.
02:32There's a lot of planes that aren't flying as much as they need to.
02:34They need someone to sell charters on their aircraft.
02:37Fascinating.
02:38Yeah.
02:39So it actually costs them more money to not charter.
02:41Exactly.
02:42This is your least expensive plane that you have right now.
02:44Yes.
02:45How much would this thing cost?
02:46It goes for about $6,000.
02:47Jay, how much would this thing cost me to fly per hour?
02:50$2,000 to $3,000 per hour.
02:52Whoa, how far does it go?
02:53It can go from Texas to either coast.
02:55It's a little bit slower than the jets,
02:56but it's the most cost-effective and actually our most chartered.
02:59What are your profit margins?
03:00Anywhere from 10% to 30%.
03:02Let's talk about the core way you make money in a jet business.
03:05Chartering the aircraft to businesses, business owners, and of course our athletes and celebrity clients.
03:11What are the hidden costs that nobody talks about with these things?
03:14Our landing fees, fuel.
03:16For the clients, the hidden costs are if we have to reposition it.
03:19So for us, we have access to 7,000 aircraft worldwide.
03:23We can find the closest aircraft to where our clients want to fly out of.
03:26We end up paying, eating that fee for those hours.
03:29It's good for the pilots.
03:30It's not so good for us.
03:31Right.
03:32Now, we got jet number two.
03:33How much is this bad boy?
03:34It'll go between six and eight million.
03:36But it doesn't have the spinny thing on the front.
03:38Right.
03:39Propellers.
03:40The spinny things are back here.
03:42What does this thing cost you?
03:43You're going to be about $4,000 to $6,000.
03:45Okay, so about double the price of the other one.
03:47Yes, this one's just faster.
03:49Who's the coolest client you've ever had in this one?
03:51We have a great client that's a really big pro wrestler.
03:55What's the most insane charter you've ever done?
03:58We actually chartered a plane for a cake.
04:00So we were flying a celebrity, but it was going to be his birthday from the Midwest.
04:05And the only cake his wife ever got him was from New York.
04:08So she chartered a separate plane to go to New York, pick up the cake,
04:12bring it back to the plane they were going to be on so she could surprise them.
04:15Okay, tell me who it is.
04:16I can't tell you.
04:19Steve, what's up man?
04:20Pleasure to meet you.
04:21Okay, this is your company where you take care of a bunch of jets to make sure they still fly.
04:25But I have a question for like these big boys.
04:28How much does it cost you to like upkeep them?
04:30We charge $1,500 a month.
04:32A 10 to 20% markup on parts.
04:34Nice.
04:35Our shop rate is $145, $150 depending on the customer.
04:38How big of a pain in the ass they are?
04:39That too, that even goes higher.
04:41Last year we invoiced over 200 airplanes.
04:44Tell me the name of your business.
04:45I named the company One Marine Aircraft Maintenance a year ago because I started off with just me.
04:50Wait, wait.
04:51You started this business one year ago, have 200 clients and subscription plans of $1,500 a month.
04:56Mm-hmm.
04:57Steve, that is amazing.
04:59That's a great fucking business.
05:00It pays well.
05:01And you guys get more business by more TIAs existing in the world.
05:06Exactly.
05:07All right, this is amazing.
05:08Steve, you're the man.
05:11Okay, what about this bad boy?
05:12How much does this thing cost?
05:13It's about a $10 to $12 million plane.
05:15And what if I want to rent it?
05:16$5,000 to $7,000 an hour.
05:18Why is it more expensive?
05:20You can fit more people and go a little bit further really fast.
05:23So does size really matter?
05:25Always.
05:26So what's the most expensive add-on you've ever done for one of these?
05:31A helicopter.
05:32Oh, sick!
05:33Are we going to go on a helicopter now?
05:34Not today, but I have something else in mind.
05:36Yeah, I like the sound of that.
05:41What does this bad boy cost?
05:42$150,000.
05:43What about per day?
05:44$1,000 a day.
05:45How much does this thing cost to buy?
05:46About a quarter million.
05:47What about to rent?
05:48About $1,500 a day.
05:49What's this thing cost?
05:50$350,000.
05:51What about to rent?
05:52$1,600 a day.
05:53Better than a helicopter?
05:54Way better.
05:55So basically rich people pay you to also pick them up in Rolls Royces?
05:59Yeah, you know it's all about the experience.
06:01So what's the main reason they buy all this stuff from you?
06:04It's not just to look fancy.
06:05There's two reasons.
06:06One is efficiency.
06:08We have business people who can close three multi-million deals in one day in three different cities.
06:12And then we have the people that they have so much money nothing's fun anymore.
06:16So they're buying experiences.
06:18What's the weirdest request you've ever had besides a cake?
06:20If I can get celebrities on board with business clients.
06:24Like a buyer celebrity?
06:25Yeah.
06:26We actually started a whole new pillar business with it.
06:28Stella experiences.
06:29It's where you can actually go on a private jet with a celebrity of your choice.
06:33We usually go to VIP events, concerts, all kinds of fun stuff.
06:36Any celebrity?
06:37Any celebrity.
06:38What about dancing Dan?
06:41You called?
06:42Hey Dan.
06:43Hi, how are you Tia?
06:44Good to see you again.
06:45Looking lovely as always.
06:46Okay, so are we going to go on a flight now?
06:47Yeah, definitely go on a flight.
06:48Yeah.
06:49Before that, whiteboards.
06:50I'm really good at this.
06:51I can show you how to make so much money.
06:54Next time.
06:55Next time?
06:56Yeah, but it was so amazing to meet you.
06:57But right now it's nice.
06:58Soon.
06:59Yeah, it'll be so fun.
07:00Soon?
07:01Yeah, we'll come right back for sure.
07:02Plane ride, plane ride and then whiteboards together, whiteboards together.
07:12I love those guys.
07:13It's clear from talking to Tia that buying chartered planes isn't just about money.
07:19It's about freedom.
07:20Freedom to go where you want, when you want, without waiting in security lines or dealing
07:25with delays.
07:26And that's the kind of freedom the wealthy prioritize.
07:29See, they don't just trade their time for money.
07:31They build assets that can pay them.
07:33So they can have time to fly on jets like this and enjoy life on their terms.
07:36And one of the best ways to do that?
07:38Real estate.
07:39That's why Fundrise Flagship Fund is worth looking into.
07:42It lets you invest in private real estate projects without the hassle of owning properties
07:45or dealing with tenants.
07:46And just a few hundred bucks, you're in.
07:48Because real freedom isn't just about flying private.
07:51It's about having the income to choose how you live.
07:53And that's why it starts with smart investments.
07:55But you guys know what time it is.
07:56It's whiteboard time.
07:57There are only four reasons rich people buy things.
07:59And we're going to tell them to you so you have all their secrets.
08:02The first reason is status.
08:04If you want to sell rich people things, you need to make them feel special.
08:08Think limited edition Hermes bags.
08:10These are like the Birkin bags.
08:11These are the one-off.
08:12This shows that you are special.
08:14If you can nail that, you can sell a rich person.
08:17Number two, convenience.
08:18AKA make my life easier.
08:19Don't make me wait in a line.
08:21Give me something faster.
08:22No friction.
08:23This is how you can sell things to rich people.
08:26And you can actually charge them a ton to do it.
08:29Give me a private jet.
08:30Don't make me sit in the last row of Southwest in the middle seat.
08:35Number three, exclusivity.
08:37This means let me in.
08:38Keep everybody else out.
08:40Think membership models.
08:42Think Soho House.
08:43If you can do this, which is why her model is so brilliant about subscriptions,
08:47then you can sell rich people things.
08:50Next, privacy.
08:51This is where you offer people the ability to have nobody else around.
08:54Think red carpets.
08:56Think velvet ropes.
08:57Think security like Chris.
09:00Scarcity.
09:01Think give me something that nobody else can have.
09:04I'm talking, I want to look so cool.
09:06My neighbor is going to wish that they have it, but they can't.
09:08This is how we get rich people to buy things.
09:10I think we should go check out this next plan though.
09:12Okay, this is what's required if you want to get on a $12 million jet.
09:18This jet is so expensive.
09:19We're going to start from the cheapest parts of this jet
09:21all the way to the most expensive, ready to go.
09:23First, we got a $5,000 sink.
09:25Then we got a $100,000 carpet.
09:27The leather costs $200,000.
09:29Then we've got the wood panel in $400,000.
09:31We got these right here.
09:33That is $975,000 for the sound system.
09:36But if you thought that was the most expensive part of this jet,
09:38you'd be wrong because the most expensive part is not Tia.
09:42Oh my God.
09:45It is the cockpit.
09:46This is a million dollars because this thing can take us all the way to Europe,
09:50which apparently is rare.
09:52Usually a jet of this size would cost you how much to fly for an hour?
09:55About $10,000 an hour.
09:56You want to use a 24 carat plated bathroom?
09:58What the fuck?
09:59Of course I do.
10:00That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
10:02What is a typical day like running a jet brokerage business?
10:10It probably depends on who you're asking in the business,
10:12but it's usually fast-paced, talking to a lot of people,
10:16making a lot of moves, and making sure we don't break any rules.
10:19Yeah, the FAA.
10:22Yeah.
10:23We're probably breaking some now.
10:24Let's talk business models.
10:25Selling planes.
10:26Well, sell a $10 million plane.
10:28I bet they take about a 3% commission, which means you make $300,000.
10:32That's cool, but that's a fee-based business.
10:35Margins ain't that great, meaning you don't make that much money.
10:37Charter is what they do the most of.
10:40They let somebody buy a flight for $20,000 to $50,000.
10:43They probably take home somewhere between $2,000 and $5,000.
10:46They can do this many times.
10:48This is cash flow as opposed to one-time fee.
10:50Usually people are doing it often.
10:52But the way we make sure they're doing it more often
10:54is we turn them into members, which is what they do here.
10:57So for memberships, you get their flat fee of $10,000 all the way up to $100,000.
11:01That means it gets access to flights, plus other stuff.
11:04So you get a package of flights.
11:06That means you can do a ton of them and consistent cash flow.
11:10I like that.
11:11Better margin business.
11:12Experiences.
11:13This is cool.
11:14That's what we just talked about.
11:15These experiences might be a cool celebrity flight,
11:18anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 for one seat.
11:22This is like the V.I.V.I.P.
11:24Then we sell the same thing at the end of the day.
11:26The flight plus the experience.
11:28We can do this a ton of times.
11:29We cash flow.
11:30We get big margins.
11:31And I think this is how we turn this bad boy into a $100,000,000 business.
11:37This business is worth less, theoretically.
11:40Charter's worth more because of the type of businesses it is.
11:43Memberships, aka subscription, recurring revenue.
11:46And finally, experiences at a really big premium.
11:50That is how we hit nine figures with planes.
11:54Okay, so now we get on the plane and we get out of here.
11:56Actually, I have a V.I.P.
11:58But I really appreciate you coming.
12:00Enjoy the flight and I'll see you next time.
12:01Thanks.
12:02Okay, this was amazing.
12:03Bye-bye.
12:04Also, I thought I was the V.I.P.
12:05So now I'm going to tell you all the real secrets inside.
12:11All right, you guys.
12:13Here's what I learned today.
12:14That I think that you've been lied to.
12:16We all have.
12:17That planes like this were for the few, not the many.
12:20And Tia's story kind of proves to us that that's not the case.
12:23That in fact, if we are willing to do the hard work
12:26and keep at it a little bit longer than is comfortable,
12:29we might just win this big too.
12:31So this video is really to you and to your future private flights.
12:40This is what they do, right?
12:41I think this is what V.I.P.s do.
12:43I'm a V.I.P.
