We asked: What's the best school in Sheffield?

00:00Could you tell me what you think is the best school in Sheffield?
00:04I'll be biased and I'll say Notre Dame.
00:07Why do you like Notre Dame?
00:09Because I went there.
00:11I'd say the best school in Sheffield is Mercia.
00:14I think they've got a really nice innovative approach to education
00:18and test scores and the happiness of the children's parents for themselves.
00:23I'm slightly biased but I'd say Forge Valley School
00:27because both my children have been there
00:30and it's undergone a lot of improvement over the past 10 years
00:33and it's now oversubscribed.
00:35It's gone from special measures to oversubscribed so that's my opinion.
00:40I am rather biased because I went to this school
00:43but also my children go to this school and I think it's High Stores.
00:46What do you like about High Stores?
00:48I think it's just got a lovely ethos and a real good feel to it
00:51and I think both my children have been very happy there.
00:55I'm not sure what the answer to that is but I'm 74,
00:59I went to Tapton School and I left at 15
01:02and I must have had a decent education
01:04because since then I've had some decent jobs and a good career.
01:08it depends what you want whether you're talking about senior education or junior education
01:18or for people with some sort of educational needs.
01:24so I'm sort of had the experience of a few of them because I've got two autistic grandchildren
01:36so it would be helpful for them to have things available
01:41but also for children who want higher education or further education.
01:50so I think I've not been to school for a long time and I went to grammar school when I was in my teens.
02:03but I think now from what I've heard, schools around Tapton and Bench Green and that area and Girls High School
02:15seem to be better results educationally.
02:20but then as I say, I think it's important to consider children who need extra needs as well.
02:27so I think I could start learning across all these things and I think I've had a very important issue.
02:33it is a good advice so I get into the creative education and I think it's really good.
02:34I think we'll have some ideas with you.
02:36and I'm just going to have some ideas here.
02:39and I'm just looking at this a bit of an interview.
02:41and I guess what I'm talking about is I'm just going to have a little bit of a challenge.
02:46and I think it's as good as I'm a bummer of people to go to the team and people who are within the team,
02:52and I'm just kind of a bit of a challenge.
