North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had nine fire appliances at the scene, as well as more specialist vehicles and the assistance of partner agencies.

The major fire on the dried out North York Moors started earlier this month.

00:00Here we are at the A171 Scarborough-Whitby Road.
00:12The plan up here was going to try a back burn off a controlled burn.
00:17Basically the fire beat everybody to it.

00:37As you can see there the fire crews and everyone concerned couldn't work in the smoke.
00:42There was a tractor that nearly went off the road.
00:46So everyone's just got to be careful.

00:51It hasn't breached the road thankfully.
