00:00Hi everybody, welcome to Cricket on 5 and I'll look at the second NatWest T20 in the National
00:29between England and South Africa. We're at the county ground in Taunton, a terrific cricket ground.
00:35In a recent county match here, both sides, Somerset and Knott, made 400, so it's a very high scoring ground.
00:42A quick outfield, some smallish boundaries and a beautiful pitch with some pace in it.
00:47England haven't been here since the 1983 World Cup. A convincing performance that day and David Gower to the fore for England against Sri Lanka.
00:56No international cricket here since the 1999 World Cup. India to the fore that day.
01:02So, in short, it's great to be back. Remember, England won up in the series having trounced the South Africans at the Aegeus Bowl.
01:09Now the toss has been won by Owen Morgan and true to form, he's put the South Africans into bat.
01:15No surprise that England have decided to have a ball on this small venue. It's always a good pitch.
01:20Two changes for the England side and it's two debutantes. It's Liam Limiston of Lancashire who's in for Alex Hales and Tom Curran of Surrey who replaces Mason Crane.
01:29South Africa, the same top order with the bat, but they've injected some pace with the ball.
01:34Chris Morris at number seven comes in and no lookout particularly apart from Mourney Morkle for Dane Patterson,
01:40a quick bowler who terrorised Hampshire recently with seven for 27.
01:44and that could be the first boundary. Smash through extra cover. The first runs of the series for John John Smuts.
02:00First six of the day. Real power from John John Smuts. You're going to have to have your eyes on the game in the stands here at Taunton because there's going to be plenty of balls arriving.
02:23This was just in the slot really. Quite a length pull, not quite a Yorker and dropped. Well deep long off by a man in a white shirt. Hit with plenty of venom by JJ Smuts.
02:38Well this is exciting. Tom Curran to bowl his first ball in international cricket. And he could get a wicket, no it's high.
02:46Now well done from Liam Dawson. Just for a split second there, looked like he was going to get a wicket with his first ball.
02:59Which is quite sort of Botham-esque really. If you look back to Botham's career, he often took a wicket with his first ball.
03:06That was just a bit quicker than Hendricks expected. On him a touch sharper and as a result the top edge, but lucky that it fell safe.
03:13He's got a decent amount of pace Tom Curran. That was 84 miles an hour.
03:18Got him! Second ball! What a start to your international career!
03:26What fantastic. And he deserved it too because that was venomous that delivery. Just raced off the surface and the batsmen looking to be maybe a bit over ambitious.
03:36Perhaps trying to dictate terms to the young bowler. But it was too good a ball.
03:41Bit of extra bounce and pace and zip. And okay, it might look lucky but the bowler earned that by the extra bit of pace he gave it.
03:49Yeah, pace does for Risa Hendricks. He goes for seven. What wonderful pictures. South Africa 25 for one.
04:02Oh, that's what the ball has gone.
04:04Oh, that's what the ball has gone.
04:05Oh, that's what the ball has gone.
04:07Tom Curran earned a second over with that excellent start. And belted pass. And that nearly cleaned up the umpire.
04:14Never mind the stumps. That was very powerfully struck by J.J. Smuts, who's clearly got his eye on anything titched up.
04:21Mangalisa Morselli on strike.
04:31That is severe. Over deep mid wicket. Actually not a very long boundary but hit flat. Good shot. And he's broken his back I think.
04:41He has. That's exactly the shot that he's, well not specifically that shot but he's a very strong bottom handed player.
04:50Lovely cutter and puller of the ball. And there was considerable power in that. And frankly, that's the sort of stroke play South Africa need in this early stage of the game.
05:11Yeah. I hope he took him three balls and he's put it into the side of the ball. And that really would have probably counted eight on if he had a different scoring system. That went a long way.
05:32Very difficult place to bowl. It's as simple as that.
05:36Now he'd probably be expecting it short here. Lots of space on the leg side. Nobody back mid on or mid off.
05:47And he's gloved it down the leg side and walks. I think that was the slower bouncer from Liam Plunkett. So even though the batsman was expecting it, he couldn't do anything about it.
05:56Yes, it was. It was 15 MPH slower than the short ball that hit the splice of Marceli's back.
06:07Having hit a few impressive boundaries, he's got to go. And probably again, he's just misread the pace of the ball.
06:14That's why changes of pace in one day cricket is so important. Don't want batsman to get set. And particularly on a deck like this, you've got to have a lot of variety.
06:23Good, important breakthrough by Plunkett. 57 for two now. Marceli's gone for 50.
06:29AB de Villiers comes in well. One plays lower than you might have thought. Really?
06:38He's still got 12 overs to bat though, so plenty of time to recap it.
06:41There's a man out there. Can he get round? No, hit too well. Just a little bit too square maybe.
06:57And that's probably the shortest boundary on the ground. Must be barely more than 60 metres.
07:02And that's another four in completely the opposite direction to where he was intending.
07:18I'll show there's not much margin for the bottlers here.
07:20He picked his spot. Clever shot actually. That was the slower ball from Plunkett which just overdid the length a bit.
07:35Three men on the leg side boundary but Villiers pinpointed his shot wide of the man at deep mid-wicket.
07:41England's slower balls, the ones, the ones picture full haven't worked at all today.
07:51Jordan bowled a couple of wides, that one was shelled for four by Villiers.
07:57Only the slower bounce all worked, got the cricket of Marceli.
08:02Packed over, deep extra cover and just makes it over the ropes.
08:08Probably not quite off the middle of the back but good enough.
08:13It's a good stroke. It's flat and hard and beats the man out of deep mid-off.
08:29Oh gosh. There's times when you're going to fear for the crowd if someone's got a fight in their hand and they're not looking.
08:47Oh yeah, you've got to keep your eyes on it. This is brutal.
08:55Unless they're not a bad ball from Liam Dawson because he sees him coming, just drops it a bit shorter.
08:59We just go through with it. Such a good pitch. Goes flat.
09:03Oh well, that should be out. Amazing game cricket can be, isn't it?
09:20Luke Pultos and the big fella Smuts chips it up in the air, meek and mild as you like.
09:26Liam Dawson's not going to complain but I think as soon as it left the hand he would have thought,
09:32oh no, that's going to go in the stands. Look at this for a delivery.
09:37Attempted arm ball. Should have gone mild back into that stand.
09:41Simple catch for Liam Plunkett. And enterprising innings comes to an end for Smuts.
09:46He goes for 45, 96 for 3.
10:00Welcome back to the cricket in Taunton. England pleased of a wicket.
10:04JJ Smuts has just gone, having threatened to shake the England attack about a bit.
10:08Avi de Villiers is out there with David Miller. It's 96 for 3 from 11 overs.
10:16Oh, nice little pick up. Avi de Villiers finds these boundaries.
10:26Pretty simple to deal with. This is a real threat for England.
10:31It'd be a real threat for any bowling attack anywhere in the world.
10:34Well, he's moved himself onto 33 from just 14 deliveries. 3-4s, 2-6s.
10:39Magnificent stroke.
10:44Very well bowled, Dawson.
10:56Back there come for a second.
11:00A lot of energy in the cricket.
11:03That's another terrific performance from Liam Dawson. He finishes his four overs.
11:15On this ground with these boundaries and on this pitch going for just 38 and taking a wicket against players of this quality.
11:22Splendid effort.
11:28Out! Little edge! Another change of pace from Plunkett. Picks up an important wicket. David Miller this time.
11:38Yeah, he just couldn't get it going, Miller. 8 off 10 deliveries.
11:43Coming a very clever bowler for England, Liam Plunkett. Used to just run in a bowl as fast as he could.
11:48He's now got these kind of deliveries. A cut-up.
11:52Which you so require in T20 cricket.
11:55Miller goes for eight. He's 113 for four.
12:07No stopping that. Williards finds the gap.
12:19And the pond of Iliards, I think, hangs South Africa's chances in this game.
12:23Absolutely. Just watch him here. He just goes deep in the crease.
12:26Opens up that front side. That left foot goes to the onside.
12:30This allows the bat to come through.
12:33And the placement is perfect.
12:43Oh, that's amazing.
12:46Absolutely amazing.
12:49Watch the replay and see where he hits it from. The line he hits it from.
12:52Well, it's also landed where the old dressing rooms used to be.
12:57Yeah, he gets down so early. Look at that. Look how far he's going to cross.
13:03Down early, just using the pace.
13:05Just gets underneath the ball and just sends it on its way.
13:09Beautiful play.
13:10Yeah, it's where Viv Richards and he and both of them used to change.
13:13They never played any shots like that, not even then.
13:16Oh, this must be caught. Oh, it'll be a beating heart. No problem.
13:29Big, big wicket. The England captain takes the catch.
13:45Full credit to David Willey. Held his nerve.
13:50Bold and cut up.
13:52Knowing Morgan is a cool chap.
13:56Put your right mark. His heart would have been beating for this one.
13:59Just loses his shape slightly, A.B. de Villiers.
14:03Look at the concentration from the skipper.
14:07Straight in the buckets.
14:09The Villiers goes for 46, 127 for five.
14:23Dardino strike.
14:25Oh, inside edge.
14:28No feet, as Jeffrey would say.
14:39This is really good from Tom Curran.
14:42Unfortunate there, the inside tickle just goes slowly into that outfield for allowing the two runs.
14:52Plenty of slower balls being bowled. Now a Yorker.
14:57David Willey so far has been changing his pace.
15:00Having plenty of slower balls.
15:02He's deceiving the batsman. This time Chris Morris.
15:19Yeah, that's a good shot.
15:22Nice to timed over extra cover. It's right in the slot to play the stroke.
15:25I think the way Burhad Eden would have wanted the ball just outside of off stump on a good land.
15:40I think the key is to keep your shape.
15:42Not try and hit the ball too hard.
15:44That was a bit more controlled that shot.
15:46More effective as a result.
15:48The security guard doesn't look too good in the outfield though.
15:51Oh, you don't see that often.
15:56Now that is a collector's piece.
15:58Chris Jordan dropping a chance.
16:04And I think it's gone and clobbered him straight in the face.
16:06I suppose it does show how hard these guys hit the ball that even a fielder as superb as Jordan can misjudge it and then take a blow in the face at the same time.
16:24Just sliced it off the thickish edge and just got into a bad position.
16:37Well, he's better now. Chris Jordan's got to bowl.
16:41There's another chance.
16:45A little bit more tricky than the one that he's just drawn, but it's a shake of the head from the South African batsman.
16:50There's a good reason not to pitch the ball up at the end of the innings and that's bowler's self-preservation.
16:58If you pitch it up, it's going to go back past you.
17:08Well, that's high.
17:10I think it's just going to be safe.
17:11Yeah, it's a good chance and try from David Willey.
17:17You can see it often on grounds like this where it's so short straight and behind the keeper.
17:28Chris Morris is a big leg side player, looks to try and belter everything over deep mid wicket.
17:32And this one just went off the top edge.
17:36He's a bit lucky to get four out of it, really.
17:44Well, there's not time now. It's gone straight to the fielder.
17:47Oh, another drop catch.
17:49Too casual.
17:51Liam Livingstone on his debut.
17:53Again, he's a good fielder.
17:54He just looked at this and thought, yep, I'll take that.
17:59He must have just taken his eye off the ball right at the last second.
18:04You're absolutely right.
18:06He was far too casual.
18:08Hardly really moved into position and didn't watch it into his hands.
18:13There was a complete lack of precision about that.
18:17It's embarrassing.
18:19And another one goes down.
18:24Chris Jordan has balled three overs, nought for 28.
18:30Dropped a couple of chances.
18:34At least he can still smile about it.
18:36Well, that would have been out as well.
18:59That's got to be taken, surely.
19:01Jason Roy.
19:02Yes.
19:03That's the way to do it.
19:05Second wicket for Tom Curran.
19:11Oh, lots of delight on English faces.
19:14Put a couple of catches down, but...
19:16Jason Roy, one of the best fielder, and...
19:19A second wicket for Tom Curran there, with a...
19:22What looks like a back-over-hand slower ball.
19:24Completely deceiving Chris Morris.
19:26No real wood in that shot at all, and...
19:29A bit of agile catching by Jason Roy.
19:32Two for 26 for Curran now.
19:35And...
19:37Morris out for 12.
19:3957 for 6.
19:49Brilliant.
19:51Magnificent Yorker.
19:53Good celebration to match as well for Tom Curran.
19:55Ah, Dealey Vilaqueo goes first ball.
19:57Yeah, they should put a speed gun on that celebration.
20:00Certainly it's...
20:02It's up there with some of the best sprinters, and this is up there with some of the best Yorkers.
20:08Look at that curve away, as well as the perfect length.
20:11The man who played here for many years, Joel Garner, wouldn't be able to vote a better one than that.
20:17And...
20:18He shot him out.
20:19First ball.
20:20Pelequeo.
20:22A duck.
20:23And 164 to 7 now, South Africa.
20:31Last ball of Tom Curran's first fell international cricket.
20:34Three for 33.
20:35Three for 33.
20:38Really good start.
20:40Think of the ground, he's bowling on the pitch.
20:43Some of the players he's bowled against.
20:45He will be absolutely delighted with that start.
20:49He looks the part.
20:50First of the three runners, and three riggers.
21:04Six.
21:06Not going to miss out on that opportunity.
21:09Think that's gone straight into the pub.
21:13It's gone straight into the town centre.
21:15Nothing's quite happening right for Chris Jordan.
21:21The ones that he has got perfectly pitched, haven't been hit, but everything else has disappeared.
21:39That's straight.
21:41Very simple for Michael Goth, the umpire to raise his finger.
21:45And finally a bit of joy for Chris Jordan.
21:49That's almost third time lucky, really.
21:52The high full toss and went for six.
21:54The one outside off stump, which was missed, missed completely.
21:57And then the one just honing into leg stump.
22:01As Bahadine saw another big hit over the leg side.
22:04One for 34 for Jordan now.
22:06170 for eight, South Africa.
22:07Well, the last ball of the South African innings, it's Dane Patterson to face it.
22:19170 for eight.
22:20And make that 174 for eight.
22:23And make that 174 for eight.
22:26You have to say, that's a real poor delivery from Chris Jordan.
22:29It's right in the slot.
22:31Pattinson's not going to miss out on it.
22:33174.
22:35Really good debut for Tom Curran.
22:38You have to think that 174 on this pitch, on this small outfield.
22:42It's just slightly under par for South Africa.
22:44Yes, I think Michael Vaughan's right.
22:47Well, as even A.B. de Villiers played, even he wasn't quite as fluent as we've seen him at his very best.
22:55It was Smuts, de Villiers and de Bahadine that made up the best efforts in that 174 for eight by the South Africans.
23:03England Bolt very well.
23:05David Willey exceptional.
23:07Tom Curran very good.
23:09Liam Plankett very good.
23:10Chris Jordan perhaps a little off colour today.
23:13In fact, he had a difficult day all round in the field.
23:16But 175 to win the game on a pitch as good as this, with an outfield as quick as this and small boundaries.
23:23Yep, I think we're making them favourites.
23:24Here's your chance to win a day to remember at the fourth England versus South Africa in Vestec Test Match in Manchester.
23:41The competition winner will be handed a pair of Three Lions hospitality tickets to the Saturday of the Emirates Old Trafford Test in August.

24:35For rules go to channel5.com slash win and good luck.
24:42And now a reminder that South Africa made 174 for eight in their 20 overs but it is a fast scoring ground.
24:49Here come England's opening batsman Jason Roy with Sam Billings.
24:52Well it's quite hard to take liberties with a bloke of six foot seven inches even if you're as good as Jason Roy.
25:09Just with a brand new ball as well.
25:12I think it's just kick up off the surface.
25:14It's the thick edge for four.
25:15I think he was trying to hit that over mid on.
25:18But in the end skewed it square of the wicket.
25:19Up in the air.
25:20And is it a catch?
25:21It is in the end.
25:22And is it a catch?
25:23It is in the end.
25:24And that's a rather sad departure for Sam Billings.
25:27And maybe he was just trying to get going too soon.
25:30He hasn't batted actually in the middle.
25:32For over a month.
25:33Last game was for Kent in the middle of May.
25:34And you can feel it like he is still in the middle of May.
25:35And you can feel it.
25:36It's just a little bit of a bong.
25:37But in the end skewed it square of the wicket.
25:39Up in the air.
25:42And is it a catch?
25:47It is in the end.
25:48And that's a rather sad departure for Sam Billings.
25:52And maybe he was just trying to get going too soon.
25:55He hasn't batted actually in the middle for over a month.
25:58The last game was for Kent in the middle of May.
26:01you can feel his pain you certainly see it etched on his face you know it's
26:06difficult the ball bounces here you come in against blokes who've got some wheels
26:10and they bang it in we've seen it all day Plunkett did it with the ball for
26:13England it's easy to come out time the ball sweetly from the off if you
26:18haven't had a lot of cricket 15 for one it leases the man who's gone for just
26:22three that's four as well that's an even thinner edge than the one before the
26:33is skewed to square legs time beats a short fighting and that is four guys I
26:47think probably no maybe just got a bit of battle it even thinner edge
26:52it's a remarkable shot the Jason Royce perfected here
27:01so one pass leg stuff one over off stump
27:06that's a serious ball and very well taken actually look at that take off from
27:12nowhere it's 89 mph and with serious bounce
27:22it's beautifully timed and why was he trying to pitch it up you wonder really when Roy was having such trouble with the short ball
27:31that's the Roy trademark timing through mid wicket or bottom hand
27:36well that'll put Morgall off pitching it up
27:38three fours off this over so far it's been a pretty good over and that might be a four
27:47so four fours from the over two authentic shots and two very lucky ones
27:52perhaps the tide is turning for Jason Roy
28:01that's a good ball how do you hit that anywhere really from barely short of a length
28:14it just takes off that's a proper ball that okay who you are that's a hard ball hit zips away off the seam
28:23that was class
28:34yes it was a strange ball given success he had had from bowling back of a length
28:40just over the head of short fine leg short arm jab from Johnny Bairstow the line from
28:59Patterson just a little bit two leg side and you just don't need to give Bairstow any scope at all in the form that he's in at the moment
29:07there's enormous power in that I'm brilliant fielding the magic that's what
29:23they pay the bucks for
29:26Chris Hendricks the man out of deep mid wicket
29:37they've that plenty of hammer short that's been the tactic banging into the
29:41middle of this bouncy pitch Jason Roy is set up now
29:53glorious great driving
29:56the man in good form
29:58who can really play will be able to trade drive on this creek that is perfect for it
30:04full of clouds getting this totally wrong maybe the village has got mid on the
30:08mid off in the 30-yard circle
30:11he's got deep mid wicket out on the boundary square leg on the boundary if we want
30:14his bullet to hit the pitch hard not float a nice little juice one up like that
30:20this is it on the up difficult stroke at the top of the ball bounce thunder it back past the bowler
30:35whoa go girl go girl
30:38the best there's a ball play played hockey played squash that's a mixture of a bit of tennis as well in that shot
30:46you
30:47the
30:48the
30:49the
30:53the
30:54the
30:57the
30:59the
31:00placement's very good from best over time and a perfect the run rate is impressive
31:03The run rate is impressive.
31:07Well, the snowman like that one.
31:13Now he finds the gap wide of mid-on, so he's taking the mickey here.
31:18This is a cameo, and maybe more than that too. He's already 28.
31:25Well, he's toying with long gone, because ball before went straight to this side.
31:29He just gets a bit more on the offside, and just works in that space, wide of long gone.
31:41Bairsto has picked it, and smashed it flat.
31:46Incredible power.
31:49Well, that's just premeditating the short ball.
31:5285 bars an hour, and met with a baseball-style swing, look at that.
32:00Halfway through England's run chase, and very handily placed.
32:0792 for one.
32:09At this stage, the South African's 84 for two, so there doesn't seem to be a lot in it.
32:13You feel that with Roy and Bairstow playing as well as they are, it's a hugely strong position.
32:17Look at that, still 60 balls left, and just 83 to win.
32:20Welcome back to Taunton. England in pursuit of South Africa's 174 for eight, and going very nicely.
32:33Jason Roy's unbeaten on 45.
32:35Johnny Bairstow continuing where he left off from the Aegeus Bowl the other night, has 35.
32:40Ten overs remain, 83 runs are needed.
32:45Well, Tobias Yams is into the attack.
32:48Left-arm Chinaman.
32:49South Africa desperately need wickets, and quickly.
32:54Oh, fortune again for Jason Roy's, fancied that shot today, the Chinese cut.
32:59And he's mastering it beautifully, because so far he's played it three times, and he's yet to get out.
33:04Maybe his bat's a bit wider than everyone else's.
33:17Oh, that's big, that's big.
33:20That is big.
33:25Real nice swing at the back from Jason Roy, and it brings up his 50.
33:2933 balls, seven fours, one six.
33:34England the control in this match.
33:40Oh, that's crunched.
33:43David Miller on the boundary, South Africa's fielding has been very good.
33:58And it's, well it's a tremendous strike, because it's a good ball.
34:02It's probably an inch out of being in the block, and Berto just crashed in through the offside.
34:06Oh, that's a nice glance from Jason Roy, the awareness of the field, third man up in the circle.
34:18Plies Bashamzi, another boundary.
34:22Yeah, that was good thinking actually.
34:24A lot of the time in this innings he's been committed to try and just mow it over deep mid wicket, and give the dancer something to dance and jig around about.
34:34But there he's just thought cleverly about the field and where he could get the ball.
34:38As he pierce the gap, yes he has, there's two fielders out there on the boundary.
34:50Probably only 30 yards between them, and that's gone right in the middle of them.
34:54And you just have to feel for the bowlers a little bit, that's a hundred partnership between Roy and Bairstow, but
35:02Morecalls bowled four overs, quite fearsome deliveries, some of them anyway.
35:07He's gone for 43, so over 10 and over.
35:15That's going to be out.
35:18That's very soft from Jonny Bairstow.
35:21Soft dismissal which South Africa desperately required.
35:26Chris Morris is the bowler, he's got two for 15 already from his 2.4.
35:30It's the first time that Bairstow's miscued anything, and the first one that's gone anywhere near the fielders as well from his back.
35:40Simple catch really to mid on.
35:42And England only lost one wicket in that run chase at the Aegeus bowl.
35:46They've lost their second today in the 14th over, they now only 50 from 38 balls.
35:51Bairstow's gone for a very brisk, bludgeoning 47.
35:55Well here we go, Liam Leverston on his debut.
35:59Done so well for the English Lions, Lancashire.
36:06This is a different proposition when you, yeah, Chris Morris is going to get stuck into him.
36:11Just let him know he's in the international stage now.
36:19That's a nice way to get off your mark in international cricket.
36:22There's a little bit of fire out there, Chris Morris is throwing the ball into the keeper, he's saying plenty.
36:32Look at him staring at Liam Leverston, there's something gone on here.
36:36He's still going off, it's heated out there.
36:39Just run has come a long way down and actually in the way, he got out in the way of the throw and the, I think the South Africans are asking there for obstructing the field.
37:00That's a tricky one for umpire Bailey.
37:03Yeah, this is really unusual and immediately the Taunton crowd boo, but Morris and the Villiers are together there with Smuts and they seem comfortable with the appeal.
37:14How can the umpires be certain the batsmen deliberately got in the way of the throw?
37:20Now they're going to look at it, but what are they going to see?
37:24They're giving it a soft nod out.
37:26It's actually really Roy's call and Livingston said no immediately, Roy come a long way back.
37:33See he's gone straight across the pitch and sort of blocked the throw from hitting the stumps.
37:38Whether that was really deliberate or not is very hard to say.
37:42But it could have been.
37:43You see there he changed his direction to go down the other side of the pitch, partly so that he might be able to block the throw.
37:49Very unusual.
37:53Well, and a huge chorus of booing around the ground here at Taunton.
38:05The decision taken by the third umpire that Roy deliberately crossed the pitch and got in the way of the throw.
38:11Even if he can't be sure the ball would have hit the stumps.
38:13A most unusual, doubtless controversial and hugely frustrating moment as far as England are concerned.
38:20Roy was in, he's out.
38:22The game is very much alive.
38:29Last ball of Morris' spell.
38:34And he's got a wicket with it, I think, unless it was off the shoulder.
38:37Morris thinks it's out, but neither does the batsman or the umpire.
38:44The ultra edge is saying that possibly Livingston got a fine edge on the bat before he hit his shoulder.
38:51Exactly.
39:00It might be four actually.
39:02If he can get there and he can't.
39:04Josh Butler just striding across his stumps and glancing it deathly for four.
39:14Right, 29 from three overs.
39:16Livingston on strike.
39:19Hits it well and that could be four.
39:21It's a shortish boundary down there.
39:24Yes, he's found one of those gaps that wasn't patrolled.
39:27Well done, brilliant.
39:28What a great Yorker, isn't it?
39:29Under pressure.
39:302020 game like this, people paying for South African blood.
39:33Fela Cuellar pulls out of beauty.
39:34Back in his crease, almost made of the Yorker.
39:35It's dark out there.
39:36You see no flood lights.
39:37A cloudy night.
39:38Quarter past eight in the evening.
39:39This is not easy at all.
39:40Suddenly England aren't favourites.
39:411.53 from four with Josh Butler gone for 10.
39:42It's not easy.
39:43It's not easy at all.
39:44Suddenly England aren't favourites.
39:451.53 from four with Josh Butler gone for 10.
39:46What a great Yorker.
39:47What a great Yorker, isn't it?
39:48Under pressure.
39:4920-20 game like this.
39:50People paying for South African blood.
39:51And Fela Cuellar pulls out of beauty.
39:52Back in his crease, almost made of the Yorker.
39:55It's dark out there.
39:56You see no flood lights.
39:57A cloudy night.
39:58Quarter past eight in the evening.
39:59This is not easy at all.
40:00Suddenly England aren't favourites.
40:011.53 from four with Josh Butler gone for 10.
40:05And the bats gone flying and the shows the ball.
40:21The result of that is one run and a broken bat.
40:26Might be a few broken hearts in Taunton at the moment.
40:29I don't think England supporters will believe that the game could be lost
40:32with the partnership of Roy and Bairstow seemingly taking the game away from South Africa.
40:41Pretty gloomy light as Morgan faces up to Pattinson and belts it for four.
40:45Great shot.
40:46He did well to pick that up.
40:5213 from eight.
40:54And it might be out.
40:55It's out.
40:57Morgan just hits one straight to short mid on.
41:00The Villiers who didn't seem that.
41:03Didn't look as if he saw that too well.
41:05But he clung on.
41:06Native instinct from AB.
41:08The natural games player.
41:10Morgan nailed it.
41:11He's furious with himself.
41:14What a game we have here.
41:161.62 to five.
41:18in again.
41:19No.
41:20Mo paragox.
41:24Liam Livingstone.
41:26And Deley.
41:27Pelle KOPEO the keymen.
41:28As we've reached the final over.
41:29The thrilling match here.
41:32Here we go pelaKO.
41:33Dawson gets enough on it for a single
41:39people can't watch
41:47that's what they pay their money for surely
41:49and the quail
41:51will be the Yorker or the slower ball here
41:55it's wide Yorker
41:56and only one again
41:58Livingston
41:59a little bit too inclined to try and hit it to leg I think
42:02Dawson down the wicket skews it down to deep cover but that'll only be one
42:12what a brilliantly set field how unusual is that
42:16backing your bowler to get it wide and full of off stump
42:19and having three men square cover
42:21deep backward cover and third man on the fence
42:25nine from three goes for the
42:32that doesn't really get much on it and in fact there was a man covering that shot
42:37anyway so it was ill thought out he's thinking about a second
42:40there's two men at the wrong end and that
42:42really is appalling running by England that's embarrassing
42:46total mix-up
42:48livingston trying to make two out of one when it just wasn't there and Dawson wasn't interested
42:55so it's two fours required now or a six and a two
43:05and that could be the six it is the six
43:09what a shot oh it's just short
43:11just short
43:13about a foot short of being six
43:16superb execution though by Liam Dawson calmly slotting that one over the mid off fielder
43:24oh I feel for the bowler there he's only out isn't he by what three inches
43:37holds a nice firm base that's what gives him the best chance to strike it cleanly now mid off is going back
43:4312,000 people who can barely see watch as Pellequeo bowls and South Africa have won and they deserve to really that's an excellent final over from Pellequeo
43:57Pellequeo Liam Dawson with a valiant effort to try and in fall off the last ball but South Africa have won by three runs and leveled the series one all
44:07no one more delighted than A.B. de Villiers indeed they were all pumped up England messed around with the batting order trying to give opportunities to people
44:15Morgan who's in such prime form came in late and it's cost England today in a partnership between Jason Roy and Johnny Bairstow they had the game in their palm of their hand
44:26but nope it's been thrown away or should we say that to South Africa have earned it back with some courageous cricket
44:33the margin of victory three runs and the celebrations out there considerable
44:39look at that England card we repeat to Roy and Bairstow had it they weren't able to finish it off and neither were those who followed
44:50171 for six in reply to South Africa's 174 for eight score that we felt it was a tad short of power
45:00I think they're not up to it today on a good pitch here at Taunton
45:04South Africans played with plenty of verve plenty of belief actually particularly after they got rid of Bairstow and then Roy
45:11Roy Roy in controversial and unusual circumstances Chris Morris the the star there four overs two for 18 but hats off to
45:19Andile Pellecoeo for holding his nerve at the end so having a winning by three and leveling the series
45:25Whoa you looked happy at the end there OB
45:29I was very needed very much needed to get out on top there for the team
45:35yeah very happy to be one all I don't know how we did it
45:39but we were just stuck in there and we never gave up and that's probably why we came out on top
45:43uh controversial run out to some degree your thoughts
45:47I was the first man to get out like that ever
45:49um they had been only not too long ago I was quite unhappy as well but to be fair when I walked off I
45:53thought to myself I was a little bit guilty there
45:55um it was probably like Morg said there are in the post-match presser
45:59uh probably 50 50 it's not an easy call those but it's got to be made
46:03I think we were in the right to ask the question
46:05um and unfortunately for Jason it didn't work out for him
46:09uh it's the umpire's call at the end of the day
46:11what about your bowlers under pressure
46:13yes I spoke to um Andy Andile and um also Paddo there before the game before the innings
46:19and I told them I'm going to throw the two of you into a deep end tonight
46:21um which was the last four overs um they didn't know it at the time
46:25but um they were prepared for it
46:27and I think they delivered exceptionally well
46:29so we go to Cardiff All Square
46:31that's exciting for you with so many new faces
46:33that's exactly what I want as a captain
46:35to to go and take my team into a final
46:38where it's big pressure moments
46:40um and we get an opportunity to to see some of the talent coming through under pressure
46:44um those are the kind of players you want to
46:46you want to take forward in in South African cricket
46:48um so we'll have a great opportunity to to have a look at that
46:50great thanks for your time
46:52uh AB we enjoyed today very much
46:54it's Cardiff on Sunday
46:56join us for that until then from Taunton
46:58bye bye
47:00you
