During a press briefing on Monday, President Trump was asked about a UN-backed report that officially declared that there is a famine in Gaza.
Transcript
00:00Mr. President, what conversations have you had with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about what is going on in Gaza?
00:06There was a U.N.-backed report that said there was a famine in Gaza.
00:09Based on what you know and what you've been briefed on, do you agree with that?
00:13So, I mean, I deal with Bibi Netanyahu quite a bit.
00:18And we had great success, obviously, in Iran.
00:21We knocked out their nuclear threat.
00:22That would have been a horror show, having them have a nuclear weapon.
00:25They would have used it, too.
00:26We did very well there.
00:27Right now, they're talking about Gaza City.
00:31There's always talking about something.
00:32At some point, it's going to get settled.
00:34And I'm saying you better get it settled soon.
00:36You have to get it settled soon.
00:38And that means, you know, nobody can forget October 7th.
00:41People forget October 7th.
00:43That was one of the most brutal.
00:44I've seen some terrible things, some brutal things.
00:46That was about as bad as it gets.
00:49And nobody can forget that.
00:50With that being said, it's got to get over with.
00:52It's got to get over with because between the hunger and all of the other problems,
00:57worse than hunger, death, pure death, people being killed.
01:01And, you know, I'm the one that brought back the hostages.
01:04And I did it with that gentleman right there, Steve Witkoff, and with Marco.
01:08All of us, the whole team, we worked together.
01:10Even the trade people worked on it with us.
01:12And we brought back a lot of the hostages.
01:14Now we're left with, would you say 20, Steve, or would you say it's less than 20?
01:18I hope it's 20.
01:20He hopes it's 20 because some could be dead.
01:23That's what he means, I assume.
01:25So we have 20, but there's rumors that some could be dead.
01:28It's a terrible situation over there.
01:31Terrible, terrible situation.
01:33But it's coming to a head.
01:35It's coming to an end.
01:36We are sending, you know, we sent $60 million of food over there just recently.
01:43And I don't even know if people know it.
01:46We distributed ourselves.
01:48We're giving a lot of food, spending a lot of money on food, getting it over there.
01:52We have a lot of food.
01:53We have a lot of oil and we have a lot of, we have the greatest farmers in the world.
01:56So we have a lot of food.
01:57But we're sending a lot of it over to Gaza and we're feeding a lot of people.
02:03But with all of that being said, it's a lot of people to feed.
02:06And I think that we will have, I think within the next two to three weeks, you're going to have
02:10a pretty good conclusive, a conclusive ending.
02:16And it's a hard thing to say because they've been fighting for thousands of years, if you
02:20want to know.
02:21That's a, that's been a hotbed forever.
02:23But I think we're doing a very good job.
02:26But it does have to, it does have to end.
02:28But people can't forget October 7th even.
