Is Boston the best sports city? If so, what makes it the best? Any cities close? Let's hear from Boston legends Pierce and Edelman!
Transcript
00:00Well, Paul Pierce was on Julian Edelman's podcast.
00:04Was it Names with Games?
00:06Games with Names?
00:06Yes.
00:07Games with Names.
00:08And they talked about how Boston, or what makes Boston, the best sports city.
00:13Here was Pierce and Edelman.
00:15I think just Boston sports is like a brotherhood when you think about it.
00:18Because it's like every franchise out there is legendary.
00:21Yeah.
00:22You know what I'm saying?
00:23I tell people that Boston is the best sports town in all of America.
00:27Not even close.
00:27It's not even close.
00:28It's not in the span that we got to play in.
00:30Yeah.
00:30That era, like everybody won a championship in that decade.
00:34You know what I'm saying?
00:35So it's different.
00:36Yeah.
00:37You know what I'm saying?
00:37You understand it.
00:38I understand it.
00:39You lived it.
00:40You was out there.
00:40I tried to explain to people that it was almost like a competition with the other sport teams
00:45too, because everyone was winning so much.
00:48You see the Red Sox won something.
00:50You're like, oh man, well, we got to go get something.
00:51The Celtics win something.
00:53And you're like, oh, and then the Bruins go out and win.
00:55And then we would go.
00:56You know what I mean?
00:57That is a 20-year gap that is going to be remembered forever.
01:04The good old days.
01:05We were so lucky.
01:06Remember those?
01:07Yep.
01:07There's nobody in my lifetime that is like Pierce in that he weathered so many storms, personally,
01:16off the court, getting stabbed, nearly dying.
01:19But on the court, you know, dealing with the roster turnover and all the years of mediocrity,
01:25getting to one conference final.
01:26Dude was able to get out of a wheelchair and keep playing.
01:31I mean, he could have asked for a trade.
01:33He would have been moved.
01:33The most famous bubble guts ever, you think?
01:35Maybe.
01:36It's just, he is just, everything about him embodies, like, if you stay here and you persevere
01:42and you win, you are a legend for life.
01:44What is currently the best sports city in the country?
01:47It pains me to suggest it might be Philadelphia.
01:51I don't know.
01:51The Sixers really suck.
01:53Yeah.
01:54Yeah.
01:55Phillies, they got half of it.
01:57Let's see.
01:58I mean, who else would you?
02:00LA?
02:00No.
02:01Not really.
02:02LA is not a sports town.
02:03You got the Dodgers, but.
02:05I mean, Florida with hockey and when they had the Bucs going, that was a good run for them.
02:13That was not a run.
02:14Well.
02:14I mean.
02:15That was Tom.
02:16I mean, he gets to a place and they win.
02:18I mean.
02:18And the Heat were kind of good during that.
02:20I don't, I mean.
02:21Well, to be fair, the Bucs will still be a playoff team again this year.
02:24Yeah.
02:25I mean, so you have Kansas City, but they only have the Chiefs.
02:27I'm going over the titles.
02:28Yeah.
02:29No.
02:29Royals suck.
02:30Yeah.
02:31Who is, so basketball was the Oklahoma City.
02:35That's not a sports town.
02:36No.
02:37Baseball was the Dodgers.
02:38I think maybe right now it's Philadelphia.
02:41Is Detroit making a push with the Tigers being so good, the Lions being so lovable?
