00:00We are not losing sight of this big story that we are tracking, 79 years since our nation gained
00:06independence. Yet even after so many decades, seven decades in many places, people with absolutely
00:13outdated and criminal mindsets have not evolved. On your screen right now, you see four victims of
00:19one of the most horrifying problems in our country. Dowry. All these women were assaulted
00:25by their husbands and in-laws for dowry. Some of them ran to save their lives. Others died
00:30trying to fix things. Let's take a look at these stories one by one.
00:37A brutal case of alleged torture in Telangana has sent shockwaves across the nation. In a shocking
00:43case of alleged domestic violence, a 33-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances
00:49in Kota Gudem district in Telangana. The victim, identified as Lakshmi Prasanna, was reported
00:55subjected to starvation, physical assault, prolonged confinement by her husband, Naresh Babu,
01:01and in-laws before being declared dead at the Raja Mahindra Varnam Government Hospital in
01:07East Godawari district on Saturday. Well, at the time of her marriage, her family claims
01:12to have given two acres of mango orchards, half an acre of farmland, 10 lakh rupees in cash,
01:19gold ornaments worth 10 lakh. All of this as dowry, which by the way is criminal. To even give
01:25this, is criminal. The victim, Lakshmi's grieving parents, alleged that for the past two years,
01:30their daughter was kept under house arrest, denied contact with them, even prevented from speaking
01:35over the phone, further alleging that her husband and in-laws starved her and killed her for additional
01:41dowry. I'm going to go straight across to Apoorva, getting in more details. Apoorva, we've seen
01:47pictures, horrific ones really, you know, sending a, you know, chill down our spines of that victim
01:54there. Of course, we can't put that out, but it just speaks volumes of how this victim endured just
02:00so much before finally she was killed. You know, my question is, the parents are saying that this was
02:06happening for two long years. Why is that they didn't find it necessary to reach out to the police,
02:12to the authorities, to save their child at the end of the day, to save their daughter?
02:20Well, what we are getting to learn, Sneha, from her parents is that unfortunately the victim there,
02:26they had tried to get in contact with her. They weren't even able to see her. She was forced to
02:31be locked inside the room is what the parents have alleged. In fact, they were, they've also said
02:36that there were multiple attempts that they had made from their side, you know, to try and bring
02:41her back, which had turned futile. And unfortunately, this is the end result of what we are seeing of
02:46the tragic case that took place there as well. In fact, police officials do state that they are trying
02:52to get into record what all has happened over, say, the past two years that the parents alleged that
02:58she had been allegedly tortured and made to starve, in fact, at her own house as well. In fact,
03:04the victim there is survived by her child and her husband there. In fact, what we are getting to
03:10learn is that police officials do say a case has been registered. They have taken several people,
03:16including the husband, the mother-in-law and several others that have been named there by the
03:22parents. They have taken them into custody. They are examining all kinds of angles relating to
03:28this incident as well. However, from the victims, from the husband and the in-laws' side, in fact,
03:35they allege saying that there hasn't been any kind of misdoings from their side. In fact,
03:40the brother-in-law there has also gone ahead and denied these allegations, claiming that
03:46Lakshmi Prasanna, in fact, was suffering from anemia and thyroid-related issues, which is why,
03:51you know, when she had died, you know, that had caused her to lose weight is what is the allegations
03:58that is coming in from the husband's family side. So, we are seeing allegations rising up on both
04:04sides. But unfortunately, in whatever allegations come across, a life has been lost and the government
04:10and the police here are trying to see, you know, at best what can be the speedy measures that can be
04:17taken to ensure justice prevails for a life that is lost. Sneha. Be with us.
04:22Apoorva Jai Chandran getting asked those details is a horrific story from Telangana. Unfortunately,
04:27we can't put those pictures out, but it just, in fact, is so disturbing. We'd like to tell our viewers,
04:33just giving an idea about what this young woman went through. Physically assaulted, a body was found
04:38completely starved. It just gave an idea about how probably she was denied food for days and weeks
04:46together is what is evident right here. From Telangana to Rajasthan, in Jodhpur, a woman named Sanju and
04:54her three-year-old daughter were found in a suspicious burnt condition at their home in Rajasthan. The cause
05:01of her death was assault by her husband over dowry demands. The woman is alleged to have set herself and
05:07her daughter on fire. When taken to hospital, both Sanju and her daughter succumbed to injuries.
05:13Sanju Bishnoy was a government school lecturer. According to the cops, Sanju returned from school
05:18on Friday, later locked herself inside the house. She allegedly poured petrol on a dining table chair
05:24in the lobby, doused herself and her daughter with petrol and set them on fire. A petrol can was also
05:31recovered from the scene. In another dowry-related abuse case, this time in Madhya Pradesh, a 20-year-old,
05:3823-year-old Khushbu, escaped just in time after her husband allegedly tied her up, tortured her,
05:45inserted a heated knife into her mouth when she cried out in pain. The accused's husband,
05:51Hia Adilip, was reportedly intoxicated, burnt her with a hot knife across the torso, arms, legs,
05:57leaving multiple severe burn marks. They were married in February. The husband said he did not
06:03like his wife, but still demanded dowry. I'm getting you two cases. Details of two cases.
06:11One from Madhya Pradesh, the second one from Rajasthan.
06:16Cases of abuse and dowry demands that have led to these horrific cases that we're reporting on.
06:37One from Madhya Pradesh, the other one from Rajasthan. We also told you about the case
06:42in Telangana. In Jodhpur, a woman set herself and a child on fire, frustrated and also, in fact,
06:51completely cornered after repeated torture and dowry demands from her husband. She decided to
06:57take her life and her child's life as well, her daughter's life as well. In Madhya Pradesh,
07:03a 23-year-old woman by the name of Khushbu was also tortured by her husband who was intoxicated.
07:10He tied her up, tortured her, inserted a heated knife into her mouth when she cried out in pain.
07:17The accused husband here, Dilip, was reportedly intoxicated, burnt her with a hot knife
07:22across her torso, arms and legs, leaving multiple severe burn marks. They were married in the month
07:29of February earlier this year. The husband said he did not like his wife, but he chose to demand
07:35dowry. If that was not forthcoming, he decided to torture her the way he did.
07:40The images on your screen are from the victims, really. You can see those assault marks on
07:49the young woman there.
07:51More news coming in, and this has got to do with the Nikki murder case. When Nikki was
08:04taken, in fact, to Fortes Hospital, this is what we are learning. It's a big revelation.
08:10In-laws then went on to claim that a cylinder blast killed Nikki. Cops found no cylinder blast
08:15at the crime scene. They found flammable liquid and lighter at the site of the crime. Cops
08:22to grill who floated the cylinder blast. The theory is what we are learning. Essentially,
08:27they try to brush this under the carpet.
08:28it's been tracking those details. Arvind, he said that the cylinder blast was killed. And the police
08:38said that there was no cylinder in crime scene. And the video shows that this story is a
08:45thing. It's very different. It's very different. Okay, I'll tell you, while Nikki was taking
08:52the urnj of the 40th hospital, in the report, there was a means that the cylinder blast was
08:58lit. In the crime scene, the police had reached the cylinder blast. There was nothing that was
09:04available. The bottle of the thinner, the lighter, the lighter and the rest were taken. The police
09:08The police are now trying to figure out the details of the doctor's report.
09:13Who told the police about the eye of the cylinder?
09:18Who was the case? Who was the case?
09:21The police were in the case of the Noda police.
09:25Besides, the report is that the Vipin has been past criminal history.
09:32In October of 2014, in Noda's police station, Vipin, for a girl, a girl and a social worker had a fight against her.
09:42She was a victim of that girl, which was the victim of Niki and Kanchan, which was the victim of that girl, and she was the victim of that girl, so she had a fight against her.
09:54So, there was two important developments in Niki.

20:11to start the beauty parlor.
20:12But the in-laws began harassing Kanchan and Nikki for more money.

23:39in the
23:59This is what is happening today? Why is it being killed in Saurabhwaratwaj's house?
24:06Because there is a change in the news. There is a change in the news.
24:10The government of the party's full-time government had a lip in the government.
24:16There was an outbreak in which case.
24:20The construction of the hospital has become a lot of dhandling.
24:24It is not going to be working on the ground, and it is going to be a bill on the bill.
24:30The hospital is not starting to start the bill.
24:34This is a lot of the cases related to this hospital.
24:38But the question is that every case of the case, which is the case,
24:45and the court cases are running,
24:48that there is no wrongdoing that Arvind Khejriwaan has done.
25:18The fact is that while they're so scared of investigation,
25:22and then if there's a vendetta, there's a court where they can go to.
25:25The fact is they won't go to court.
25:27They know that they won't get any relief in the court.
25:30Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Sasodia, sorry,
25:33have not got any relief in any of the cases.
25:36So let the investigation happen.
25:38There's a case where there's a bungling of almost 50000 rupees.
25:45Right.
25:47Let's see, how do they turn up?
25:50Why are they crying now?
25:52Why are they making so much noise now?
25:54Let the investigation happen.
25:56If there's anything wrong, they can go to court and get it cursed.
26:00Alright, I'm going to leave it at that.
26:02Our president of the Bharatiya Janta Party saying that the investigations follow in fact,
26:07and this is a matter of procedure.
26:10They can in fact seek reprieve if they feel they aren't guilty.
26:14This is called to do with a scam.
26:16Sreya has more details.
26:17Sreya, talk to us about the alleged wrongdoing right here,
26:21as far as the ED investigations and the hospital scam,
26:25hospital infrastructure scam matter is concerned.
26:27Well, Sneha, you know this entire investigation pertains to the timeline of 2018 to 2019,
26:37where 24 hospital projects were actually sanctioned to the tune of 5,590 crores that included 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield projects.
26:46which essentially means some of the projects were new projects while others were that which had to be renewed is what we do understand.
26:54The complaint initially came in from then leader of the opposition Vijayinder Gupta and thereafter we saw a case being registered by the Anti Corruption Bureau of Delhi in the month of June this year.
27:08Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate opened an ECIR and under Section 17A we are seeing of PMLA this entire raid that is being carried out.
27:16In total, 13 locations including where I am right now which is the residence of Saurav Bharadwaj.
27:21Rains are currently under its way by the Enforcement Directorate.
27:25The Amadmi Party continues to suggest this is a witch hunt but so far as the ED is concerned this is about why despite the sanction to the tune of 5,590 crores there are 50% of projects which were not done.
27:36What happened to the amount?
27:38That is the reason we see this entire investigation that is right now being done by the ED.
27:43Important to point out when the present Delhi government came to power the health report that actually the CAG report that highlighted this entire scam was also one of the first reports that was stable in the Delhi Assembly.
27:54Alright, I am going to leave it at that for the moment.
27:56Getting in those details from Saurav Bharadwaj's residence in the national capital is my colleague Shreya Chatterjee.
28:01Alright, we have more news coming in.
28:06The BJP's posted a video of the DMK THUG attack.
28:10On camera, a man brutally attacked over banner.
28:13BJP says DMK Neta goons attacked the citizens.
28:19On camera, brutal assault was seen over a political banner.
28:25The man objected to the banner in front of his home and hence this controversy, hence this attack with physical assault that took place because of the same.
28:35BJP's Anna Malai says DMK thrives on thagari.
28:41BJP says gundaism is DMK's political culture.
28:48I am going straight across to Anaga for more details.
28:55Anaga, who are these people? Are they workers of the DMK?
28:58And talk to us about the kind of action that has been taken against them.
29:02Well, in fact, the BJP has claimed that they are men who belong to the DMK party.
29:08In particular, DMK's Sirwarur councillor Purushottaman.
29:11That's what Anna Malai has alleged.
29:13He has also gone on to allege that Purushottaman and his gang went on to beat up this poor man
29:19because he didn't allow his poster, the Purushottaman's poster to be placed in front of his residence.
29:24And as you can see in the visual over there, the poor man is getting beaten up black and blue by a bunch of men.
29:29In fact, we are officially awaiting aversion from Sirwarur police on the fame as to what exactly transpired.
29:35In fact, as elections are nearing Sneha, law and order seems to be one important issue
29:40that all the opposition parties are picking up against the DMK government.
29:44The ADMK has always been raising the law and order issue against the DMK government.
29:49And now BJP's Anna Malai has also picked this up and saying that the DMK thrives on thagari,
29:55it thrives on rowdism. But at the moment, we are still awaiting a confirmation from the police officers
30:00as to who exactly these men are. Do they really belong to DMK?
30:04And what really triggered them to beat up a man like this black and blue in broad daylight?
30:09We are picking anything at all from the leadership there on what, you know, sort of action is going to be taken against
30:16these so-called party workers who beat up this man.
30:21Well, in fact, the DMK maintains that, be it anyone in the party, if they really endanger the lives of citizens,
30:28if they engage in thagari, if they engage in rowdism, the party will take strict action,
30:33no matter who they are, is what the DMK has been maintaining.
30:36And if indeed found that these men are actually men from the DMK councillor Purushottaman's party,
30:42then the DMK says that very strict action will be taken.
30:45In fact, the DMK is also probing as to, you know, what exactly DMK's councillor Purushottaman's role was.
30:51Was he the one who asked these men to beat them up? Was he involved in this particular rowdism act?
30:56The DMK on its own is probing this particular incident.
30:59And if indeed the councillor Purushottaman is found guilty,
31:02then the party says that they will take action against this particular councillor.
31:06Alright, Anuka getting in those details at this point in time.
31:10Charges being made by the BGP.
31:12They say that the DMK thrives there on thagari is what is being said.
31:17Obviously giving ample opportunity to the opposition there to go after the ruling DMK in the state of Tamil Nadu.
31:25On camera, a man was brutally attacked over a banner that was put out.
31:29He objected to it.
31:30But workers of the DMK allegedly, as alleged by the BGP,
31:34attacked those people there.
31:36These visuals have since gone viral.
31:38More news coming in again on camera.
31:54Big betrayal of farmers in Telangana.
31:56Mega queue for fertilizer in Telangana.
31:59A one kilometre long queue.
32:01Kisan's wait for hours together.
32:03Officials indicate just 300 bags of yuria are available.
32:07India's Anadatta let down is what it looks like at this point in time.
32:12Pictures are from Medak in Telangana
32:14where hundreds of farmers are standing in queue.
32:17In a mammoth queue there.
32:19Waiting for what is their due in a sense.
32:24What fertilizer is what these farmers require is what they were promised.
32:27But in fact there wasn't enough for just so many farmers who turned up
32:30and they waited in a long queue.
32:32Pictures are from Medak in Telangana.
32:35Just 300 bags of yuria are available.
32:38Abdul has more.
32:39Abdul what really happened here?
32:40Well the yuria shortage in the state of Telangana still continues with farmers,
32:49several farmers, thousands of farmers awaiting the yuria supply.
32:53So their agricultural activities in this district is continuing where the long queues have been witnessed at the Raito Vedika centers.
33:02And now we have seen that in Medak and Vanaparthi several farmers have queued at the Raito Vedika centers to collect a bag of yuria.
33:12Now here, what the officials are saying is that there is a shortage of yuria and whatever supplies they are getting they are handing it over to the farmers.
33:21Now here, what we see is that several farmers use their Aadhar card to place it in the queue and wait for long hours.
33:31And they collect a bag of yuria.
33:33However, the government, the chief minister Draven Thredi has stated that it is the central government which supplies yuria.
33:41The manufacture and the import of yuria is done by the central government and the state government can only supply it.
33:50So it is the central government who has to supply yuria.
33:52However, the BJP in the state claims that they have supplied ample amount of yuria.
33:57And it is the black marketing that is being benefited by the state government leading to this shortage is what the BJP has said.
34:04What is the solution? What do the authorities, the government says, you know, about this problem?
34:11Well, the government here says that the shortage of yuria, whatever yuria they are being supplied, is being distributed to the farmers.
34:19But through the business of the farmers, that enough amount of yuria is not being supplied,
34:25where huge and long queues have been witnessed at yuria centers just to collect a bag of yuria.
34:31And the shortage of yuria is the reason that this situation in the Telangana is still continuing.
34:40Abdul Bashir getting in those details.
34:43300 bags of yuria available farmers in dire straits is what is evident right now.
34:49So many people gathered, there are hundreds of them, to collect their bags of yuria, but this was in shortage.
34:56The government also has responded.
34:58In fact, clearly a big betrayal of farmers, what is being seen in the state of Telangana.
35:03Pictures are from Medak in Telangana, which has since got viral speaking.
35:09Volumes of the kind of spot that the farmers themselves really have found themselves in and shortage of yuria there.
35:17In fact, this has been an ongoing problem.
35:20They have been protesting in the past as well because of shortage of yuria.
35:25The BJP has, in fact, also accused the Congress government of mishandling this entire situation.
35:34Frustration growing as queues get longer there in Telangana.
35:41This has been happening for days together.
35:43In Sidipet and Medak, districts where farmers sat on the crossroads here, leading to heated exchanges with police.
35:51And this has been happening for days together.
35:53The shortage of yuria leading to farmers complain of being forced into long queues, overcharging black marketing.
36:01Farmers say that private fertilizer dealers are creating artificial scarcity and that's what is leading to this problem.
36:08Black marketing is rampant is what they've been complaining.
36:11They have been waiting outside societies and shops from early morning until closing time, with some even collapsing in queues.
36:20The problem has been reported in several areas in the Varangar district.
36:25Right now, pictures on your screens are from Medak.
36:28Scores of farmers previously blocked the highway as well, demanding immediate supplies.
36:34Moving on, a political controversy has erupted in Karnataka over Banu Mushtaq being invited to inaugurate a Dasara festival in Mysuru.
36:48The Congress government's decision to invite a well-known writer and activist is part of BJP backlash
36:54because of Mushtaq's religious beliefs but also of past comments.
36:58More on this report.
37:04A polarizing fight over the annual Mysuru Dasara festivities.
37:11The Congress government's invite to award-winning author, the Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq,
37:17to inaugurate the Dasara festival has led to a political firestorm.
37:22While the Congress has lauded the author's contribution, the BJP has lashed out.
37:50Why?
37:51Because of statements like these, made by the author previously, about the Kannada language and the state flag.
37:57I believe we're going to give him a famous sign for the歌.
38:12Thes are made of banu Mushtaq, theARs are made of Manu Mushtaq, the other one.
38:16BJP leaders have also raised questions over whether the author even believes in the Chamundeswari deity who is worshipped in Mysuru during the Dasara festival.
38:24during the 10th festival.
38:54The Karnataka government, however, has stood their ground, maintaining that this isn't
39:13just about religion.
39:14The Karnataka government, the Karnataka government, has been a part of the Karnataka government.
39:44The Karnataka government, the Karnataka government, has been a part of the Karnataka government.
39:59Banu Mushtaq has reacted to the controversy, saying that while the matter can be seen from
40:04different perspectives, the Dasara festival is a part of a culture and she is truly happy
40:09to have received the invite.
40:11A joyous cultural fest has been reduced to a political turf war, this time in Mysuru.
40:36In an exclusive interview, BJP MP and Mysore royal sign Yadavir Wadiar has told India today
40:48that while Banu Mushtaq has many accolades to her name, the BJP is unsure about whether she
40:53shares the same sentiment for the Dasara festival.
40:55What is your take on Banu Mushtaq being chosen as a chief guest?
41:06Well, her literary accolades nobody is in doubt about and furthermore, as I have mentioned
41:14before, she has helped the lot of Muslim women by allowing or rather advocating for them to
41:21be allowed entry into mosques.
41:23And she has also, of course, you know, advocated for equal rights for them amongst all other
41:29Bharatiya women as well, which has all laudable initiatives.
41:33But we also have to, if one side, these are laudable initiatives of hers, we have to weigh it
41:39against also some of her sayings, which in 2023 have come to light recently.
41:43Of her, you know, essentially insulting our Kannada flag by saying that it is, you know, part
41:50Arshana and part Skesri, part that is yellow and orange, and then saying that there is a
41:55photo of Thay Bhuneshwari on the stage, and so she feels unwelcome.
42:00So these are all, you know, aspects which have come to light, which have obviously not been
42:07in line with our sentiments, given the fact that this is a Dharmic festival at its core,
42:12and is, originates from the 10-day Dharmic festivities that have been conducted for over
42:20400 years by my own family, and then extending, you know, many centuries, if you take the other
42:25rulers of our state from which we've inherited it as well.
42:28So giving all of these light and these new videos of her coming to light, obviously we've
42:34had to retake our stance, and furthermore, I think she should make it abundantly clear
42:40that she honors this tradition, and that she is very much not going to hurt anybody's sentiments
42:47in participating in the Dasara festival.
42:50I'm going straight across to Nagar Jundwarkanath for more details on that story.
42:56Nagar, this is really about who really is going to blink first.
43:00Now, of course, the criticism from BJP is expected, but even online there's been a fair amount of
43:05chatter that this choice perhaps was not correct.
43:08What are you picking up from your sources within the government?
43:11In fact, within the social media also, it's completely divided 50-50 when people are questioning
43:15Banu Mustag's religious beliefs and how she doesn't believe with Chamundeshwari goddess,
43:19which is the state goddess on the ambari, on the chariot.
43:23The goddess is put and then the chariot is moved on the elephant.
43:27So that's the last year of the Dasara festival in Mysore.
43:30And it's a huge, huge gathering that crowd comes into Mysore to witness this festival as well.
43:35And now the government is quite adamant saying that earlier people of other communities
43:39have inaugurated Mysore Dasara festival.
43:41That is Nisar Ahmed, the big poet, Kannada poet, Abdul Kalam has inaugurated.
43:46And earlier also, sir, Diwan Mirza Ismail was a Diwan of the Mysore kingdom.
43:51And he had contributed a lot to the development of Mysore kingdom back then.
43:54So these are the ones from different communities.
43:56And yet we have respected people from different cultures, is what the Karnataka government is saying.
44:01The home minister has clarified that, yes, it is Banu Mustag will go ahead and inaugurate Dasara.
44:05But however, the opposition, BJP, is asking Banu Mustag to clear or come clear the air on her religious beliefs.
44:12And does she agree with Chamundeshwari, the goddess, and follow the principles of Hindu Sanat and Dharna?
44:18Leave it at that for the moment.
44:19Nagar Chand Varkhanath getting in those details.
44:22What's clear at this point in time at least is that the BJP is adamant on pressurizing the Congress government on the state.
44:28And the Congress government here clearly looks, it looks very unlikely that they'll blink as far as this controversy is concerned.
44:38Now with two weeks left for the vice presidential polls, the politics here is eating up.
44:42Home Minister Amit Shah has targeted the opposition candidate, former judge, Sridhar Shandredi, over the 2011 Supreme Court verdict that outlawed Salva Jodham.
44:51The high court launching a sharp attack said banning Salva Jodham said bagged the anti-Mao was fired by years.
44:57Claiming insurgency could have been crushed by 2020, if not for that particular ruling.
45:02A claim that has been echoed by a Nagsal-turned-farmer from Buster.
45:07In a letter penned to MPs, the locals said the 2011 Supreme Court ban on Salva Jodham tripled the fight against Nagsalism.
45:14An appeal that MPs do not bag Justice Sudarshan ready for vice president.
45:19As as ready as downplayed Shah's charge.
45:21Meanwhile, 11-18 Rahad Farmer judges have issued a statement, calling Shah's remarks unfortunate and warning against political misinterpretation of the Supreme Court's verdicts.
45:32India Alliance's candidates.
45:56foreign
46:24in the school of the school, the CRPF and the Surakshabal had been sat in the morning,
46:31and sat in the evening, during the evening, order all over the place.
46:34There were some places in the Surakshabal.
46:37Two judgments, this is the answer from the Surakshabal.
46:43Rahul Gandhi should give us.
46:45Why did you pick them?
46:48Yes, I think this is the criteria.
46:51to support Naxal for the support of Naxal?
46:54No, no, it's a vampanthi vicharadhar.
46:56And this judgment and the Naxal protect from this judgment.
