Rival studios estimated that “KPop Demon Hunters” topped the weekend box office with $16–18 million in ticket sales. Executives shared the figures anonymously since Netflix does not report sales data. The film debuted on Netflix in June and became its most-watched animated original before the streamer moved it into 1,750 theaters for sing-along screenings. David A. Gross described the release as a unique two-day musical event and noted ticket sales could rise as theaters add capacity to meet demand. The limited theatrical release marks a rare move for Netflix, whose June debut of “KPop Demon Hunters” has become its most-watched animated original film. The film follows a KPop superstar trio who secretly hunt demons while battling a rival boy band revealed to be demons in disguise.
