00:00Yo, what's going on? This is Teva and I'm here for Rolling Stones in my room.
00:07This video of us performing is taken from a rehearsal that me and Kuya Neal were doing for our headline show in NARM
00:16and our Golden Plains appearance in March.
00:20I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. No magazine. I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo.
00:29This first track is called Zoo. We made this after a show one day, I think.
00:36Or maybe it was just on a day off, but it came together very quickly.
00:42And we filmed the music video around the corner from where we did the rehearsal.
00:47Shout out to Brunswick, a very important place for me, maybe for us.
01:17We're trying to add it. I'll send it to them tomorrow.
01:19Gas fuming, tank empty. Made it rain in the server.
01:23The sun's out, my ice heavy. Long walk to freedom though.
01:26I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. No magazine. I'm in the zoo with animals. I took my leaves sabbatical.
01:32I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo. I'm in the zoo.
01:41I'm in the zoo. No magazine. I'm in the zoo with animals. I took my leaves sabbatical.
01:45This was our first time playing together in, I think, seven months, eight months since I moved, so, yeah, this rehearsal was our very first, I think it was our very first rehearsal at all, so, yeah, felt good.
02:12It didn't feel, like, that long though, it was strange, like, I picked you up in Footscray after we got your hair done, and it felt like you'd just gone to Sydney or something, it didn't feel like you'd been on the other side of the world, so, we got straight back into things that week.
02:30But, yeah, surprisingly easy, and, like, just kind of made a lot more sense this time, I think, especially with the guitar.
02:42This next song is called Scratch the Flea Point.
03:01We made this with Nerdy, shoutout to Nerdy, if you might know it, from 1-300.
03:09This was another track that came together quite quickly.
03:13We had a session at Neil's studio at the time in Carlton, and we were just jamming on guitar.
03:20Then we made two tracks, actually, but then we just decided to keep the one that we thought was better.
03:25The other one stopped, too, though, maybe it'll come out at some point, but, yeah, these two, I think Nerdy was playing the guitar, Neil added the drums and that, and I just started writing, we recorded it mad quick, came together very quickly.
03:43It just felt right to start the album with this song.
03:46We'll see you next time.
04:16Seek and Destroy, she's on my corpse, Cannibal, shoutout to Cannibal Coors, there's a lot of, um, you can tell the 90s and 80s metal was on my mind making this, and you can hear it, too, I think.
04:33Who's strong in the van, uh, I'm at risk of, yet another cooked cunt, hiding from the vitro, who programmed the lights were?
04:43That's a picture, when I wrote that song, I had never seen a TikTok.
04:48Who's strong in the van, uh, I'm at risk of, yet another cooked cunt, hiding from the vitro.
04:56This one is my favorite song to play live.
05:15just like a big riff
05:19I feel
05:21I feel very powerful
05:22playing this one
05:42this next track
05:43called Chanel
05:44we made this song
05:46down by the beach
05:47on the peninsula
05:49I think I played
05:53this guitar part
05:55thinking it would be
05:56like a black metal riff
05:57and then
05:59the drum influence
06:01was from
06:0280s shredder shit
06:04like Steve Vai
06:05but then the
06:07overall thing
06:08kind of reminded me
06:09of like
06:10or I might
06:11us both
06:12I should say

08:43This song is called Blush, we made this down on the peninsula as well, just a love song,
09:12you know, trying to appreciate life, and we do appreciate life, after all.
09:22This is definitely our happiest song, I think. Still kind of bleak, but yeah, it's like poppy, and it's definitely really fun to play.
09:42Cool me out of my blue, moisture under my waist, angel, guardian, so for you.
09:51With your love, feel the tension with my music, angel, guardian, so for you.
10:02Oh, I ain't been about to go here with you, I ain't been about to go here with you.
10:09Man, you got to get your seat together.
10:13I said, girl, you know, for you, I'll do anything.
10:19She said, baby, you got the word for me, I swear it.
10:25I said, girl, I ain't been about to go here with you.
10:32Originally, we had a second part to this song.
10:37It continued after this, but, you know, it was a good time for all of that.
10:43We had to cut it down, keep it moving, you know.
10:46Yeah, as I was saying before, this was literally the first time we played together in the room since, yeah, since I left.
11:11Like, probably start of July of 2024.
11:15So it was really nice.
11:17I think there's some parts in my performance that was a bit rusty, but I think it was important to capture this and keep the first, the first take sometimes.
11:27There's a special energy to it.
11:32I think we're having so much fun.
11:33I think it's nice to be playing again.
11:36And I'm enjoying myself so much as well.
11:38Like, it's so fun playing guitar live to these songs.
11:41Yeah.
11:42I know.
11:45Ehh...
11:56This song is called Sea Legs.
12:05Yeah, also from the sessions on the Peninsula, the day that this one came out, that was a
12:12really fun day, one of my favorite days.
12:14But we woke up and were just reminiscing on like early 2010s, mid 2010s SoundCloud rap
12:22and just YouTube videos, like music videos that we really fucked with, so we were reminiscing
12:30and putting each other onto shit that we might have missed at the time.
12:34On our own internet journeys, but we spent that whole time reminiscing and we started
12:41making some music, I was like, yo, this sounds like then, this sounds like the song I was
12:47trying to make when I was 21, I feel like we finally made it and it wasn't even on purpose.
12:59Yeah, midway through making this song, I remember feeling a bit confused about, you know, where
13:07to take it.
13:08The verse I was writing, even the shape of it on like notepad, it was the same shape
13:14as the verses I was writing back when I was younger.
13:18So I knew we were onto something special, but I just didn't know where to take it.
13:21So we went down to the beach, stared at the water, reflected, yearned into the distance, and
13:30then we came back, and it all made sense.
13:37So
13:42that's it.
13:47Thank you so much for joining us for Rolling Stones in my room.
14:10Shout out to Rolling Stone, shout out to Trap The Music, shout out to Kaya Neil.
