00:00Humans can be twisted, and this case was a chilling reminder.
00:04Kirstie had just returned from work and was texting her colleague Richard when, all of a sudden, he stopped responding.
00:10All of her messages and calls went unanswered for more than 20 hours, which was highly unusual, because Richard had always been very responsive.
00:19Her concern grew even more, because Richard and his roommate Nicholas hadn't been on good terms, as he had recently found a gun on him and asked him to leave.
00:28The next day, Kirstie called 911 for a welfare check on Richard, but when police arrived, nobody answered the door.
00:37Later, Richard's family members arrived at his residence along with Kirstie to check on him, but none of them were prepared for what they were about to find.
00:45Yeah, we're going to just call.
00:47Yeah, that's my assumption.
00:49The whole family here, huh?
00:51Yeah, brother-in-law, mother.
00:53Sister?
00:54Yeah, my sister.
00:55So are you going to go and see?
00:56No, you guys are going to go and see.
00:57He just has to stay, they don't have to.
00:59Okay, not you.
01:01Not you.
01:03So what's the story here?
01:05Besides what I got was, you guys don't like the roommate, or there's some problems with the roommate, because he has mental health issues, and you haven't heard from your brother in a day?
01:15Last I heard from him was last night, and the only reason that's a concern is because his roommate is currently mentally unstable, and brought an unregistered firearm with him a few days ago.
01:24Okay.
01:25And they had some kind of conflicts over the weekend, because he was trying to get him to move out.
01:32I've never heard from him since last night.
01:34We're not going to make this any of you.
01:35And no call, no show to work.
01:37Cool.
01:38So you got the key?
01:40What's her name?
01:41Kristen.
01:41Kristen.
01:42Uh, no, I haven't really seen him, but he said that he was going to be doing some camping and stuff, and he just wanted to get away for a while.
01:51So, yeah.
01:52Oh, that's super weird.
01:54He told me he was going to be home today.
01:56He might be sleeping.
01:57You mind if I check his bedroom?
01:58Actually, if you want to check his bedroom, I suppose you should, you could, but...
02:03Yeah, you'd be sleeping, you know.
02:06Yeah, so, please, um, come on in.
02:09Great.
02:09I was really hoping to, uh, get some sleep just now, but that is not what's going on, so...
02:15I will be out of here shortly.
02:17Oh.
02:17Appreciate it, man.
02:18Yeah, this is all their family.
02:19They're just worried about them.
02:20Yeah.
02:21Do you want to come out and give you the details?
02:23Actually, that's probably okay.
02:25I could probably...
02:26Uh...
02:29This is probably not a good idea.
02:33Well, they're just going to go check his room.
02:34It's all good.
02:34Yeah, that's what I was trying to...
02:36I appreciate it, yeah.
02:37...not do.
02:38I think maybe, if we could just come outside and talk for a minute here, I would appreciate that.
02:42Mm-hmm.
02:42If we could just do that.
02:46Do you guys happen to have a smoke on you?
02:49Because I haven't had a cigarette.
02:50I can go check my car, but...
02:51I appreciate that, yeah.
02:52According to Richard's family and neighbors, Nicholas had been struggling with a mental
02:57health issue for quite some time.
02:59A year ago, Richard had invited him to move in, hoping to help him get back on his feet
03:05and find a job.
03:06But now, it seemed Nicholas was doing everything he could to keep everyone from seeing Richard.
03:12I know, um...
03:13Yeah, come on here.
03:14I'll check my...
03:14Come over here.
03:15Oh, it's okay.
03:15I'm right here.
03:16Well, just let him go check the room so we can get out of your hair.
03:19I was really trying to, uh, talk with everybody out here for a second.
03:24The one girl, girlfriend, um...
03:28Kay.
03:29Yeah, Kay Marie, yeah.
03:30Yeah.
03:31So, um...
03:33Kay called and she says, Richie is not here.
03:37I says, oh, well, he actually did mention that he wanted to do some camping or something
03:43without her cell phone and stuff.
03:45So, he just left, like, two nights ago, and I'm not sure even where he is.
03:52So, uh...
03:53Did you say he had a cigarette, though?
03:55I might have a cigarette, but I gotta go check my car.
03:57Okay, please.
03:58Please, you go check your car.
03:59Well, you can come with me, because they're going to go inside and look for their brother,
04:02their family member.
04:03They have a key to get in, so...
04:06Yeah, that's probably not the best idea.
04:09No, that's a good idea.
04:10I'm going to check on the cat, too.
04:11Oh, yes.
04:12Actually, the cat does need her medication and stuff.
04:15Are you familiar with her medication?
04:17Yeah, Richie, Richie, just...
04:19Okay, yeah, let's go ahead and do that real quick.
04:22Come on in.
04:23Yes, the cat is not open here.
04:30Hey, sir, what's your name?
04:46Nicholas Van Cleef.
04:47Yeah, don't go in there.
04:49That's really not a good idea.
04:51Don't go in where?
04:52Nowhere.
04:53Nowhere.
04:54Can we go ahead and...
04:55Oh, yes, that's...
04:57Wow.
04:58Yeah, that's crazy.
04:59Hey, can we...
05:00What's the thing that...
05:01Jesus.
05:03Don't go up there.
05:04No, no.
05:05They're going to go check on their family member.
05:08Oh, yeah.
05:09So...
05:10So, here, let's go get you and see if we can find you a cigarette.
05:12Yeah, let's go get a smoke, but...
05:14You and I are going to go get a smoke.
05:17Come on, let's go, man.
05:18Actually, I would actually like three smokes and stuff.
05:21Well, if I find some, I'll give you some.
05:22Yeah.
05:23I'm telling you right now...
05:24Come on, dude.
05:25Come on.
05:26Come on.
05:26I need to not.
05:27Come on, bro.
05:28Yeah, let's go, man.
05:31After you.
05:31No, but listen.
05:32I'm trying to...
05:33We're going to get a smoke, guys.
05:34Well, no.
05:35I'm going to see if I got one.
05:37You and I are not going with that.
05:39What?
05:39It's not a good idea.
05:40Well, let's get some smoke, though.
05:42Well, you're not listening.
05:44She's going to cut me.
05:45Oh, my God.
05:46Why is she going to hurt herself?
05:48I can't warn you.
05:50Why can't you tell me?
05:51Please stop.
05:52What's going on, man?
05:54I don't exactly know what's going on.
05:57But, like, do you see any smoke?
06:01I'm going to go look for one, yeah.
06:02Oh, that would be swell.
06:03I haven't had a smoke for...
06:06Sometimes I have him in my car.
06:08Five days or so.
06:10Dang.
06:10It was a long time.
06:11It was...
06:12Well, let's go check his car out, man.
06:14He said he might have one.
06:16I know what you're having at that moment, but I'm trying to smoke a cigarette real quick.
06:20Let me sit down.
06:21Yeah, yeah, take a seat right there.
06:22I had a very long and waiting, though.
06:29No, man, there's...
06:30I don't have any.
06:31Sometimes I have them spares lying around in the side of the door, but they're...
06:35You don't understand.
06:36Off camera, Richard's family searched the house but couldn't find him anywhere.
06:40However, when they checked Nicholas's bathroom, they discovered a heavy trash bag with patches of blood on it.
06:47Meanwhile, Nicholas was speaking to the officer.
06:50But much of what he said sounded suspicious.
06:52You're right.
06:53I don't deserve a smoke.
06:55No, I didn't say that.
06:56I just don't have one.
06:57No, I completely understand.
07:00But I'm trying to...
07:05I really don't think it's a good idea for...
07:08What am I talking about?
07:10They're going to do whatever they want because they're a family.
07:13And so, yeah.
07:15Officer, we need you in here, please.
07:17Well, what's going on?
07:18Why don't you come out here and tell me?
07:20Why do you...
07:21Wait, I didn't tell you.
07:22I'm not saying nothing.
07:23No, I'm talking to her.
07:24No, but it's not...
07:26I was trying to...
07:27We found a bag in the bathtub upstairs with bloody...
07:35I'm not sure.
07:37Something...
07:38Okay.
07:40Did you find your family member?
07:43Yeah.
07:44Okay, all right.
07:45Okay.
07:46You say nothing, you go this way.
07:50Two in sixteen.
07:51No.
07:52No.
07:53You go.
07:54I'm in a second.
07:55I'm probably going to supervise him.
07:56You go left.
07:58No.
07:58Yeah, go...
08:07Here, go sit down.
08:08Go sit down.
08:10Hey, can you guys go pull the car up so that she can sit down?
08:12We're going to do something.
08:14We are going to do something.
08:15What I need you to do right now is I need you to go sit in your car.
08:18All right?
08:18We're going to do something.
08:20Can I get another officer here besides a supervisor?
08:22Sir, can I just start...
08:23Can I get your name, please?
08:24Oh, yes.
08:26My name is Nicholas.
08:28He went camping?
08:29Yes, sir.
08:30Did he go by himself?
08:31I suppose.
08:32He went with a couple people.
08:33I don't know who he went.
08:34He just said he wanted to go camping.
08:36He's been known to go camping for a few days.
08:40He used to do that with his parents and stuff.
08:42I don't know.
08:43And you guys have been getting along?
08:44Any problems with the two of you?
08:46No, that seems fine.
08:47Yeah.
08:47He just went camping.
08:50And you said he was with a girl or something?
08:52I don't know who he went.
08:53Oh, okay.
08:54He just left.
08:54He has a girlfriend?
08:55No.
08:56Oh, okay.
08:57All right.
08:58All right.
08:59So where all of you guys go inside the house?
09:02Go ahead.
09:02I got to let you go.
09:04So me and my mom went upstairs, and she's both in the bedroom, so I checked all the other
09:11rooms, and there's a thing in the other rooms, so she went for his bathroom, and then I
09:17followed her in there.
09:18Is there a bathroom, a common bathroom, or just for him?
09:20Just for him.
09:21So there is a common bathroom upstairs, but there's nothing in that one?
09:25In the master bathroom bath, there's two white trash bags coated in what I would assume
09:32is blood.
09:33Heavier, I just picked it up by the edge with this hand, but heavier than, I'd say, 25 pounds
09:38of sugar, and one of the bags had, what I would, uh...
09:41Did you open them up?
09:42I tried to, but there's, like, bags within the bags, so I, I'll just, there was more red
09:47blood on those, but one of the bags was kind of protruding out, something red out, which
09:52I would assume is, well.
09:54And then there's a lot of Robert living in the floor, sneered, dried, like, 10 pounds.
09:59And then did you guys go in the garage and look at his car?
10:01The car's there, but I didn't see it.
10:03I opened the door.
10:04You didn't go inside and look, like, look inside the garage?
10:05No, I didn't.
10:06The truth was, Nicholas had shot Richard in the back of the head, causing him to collapse
10:11to the ground, still alive.
10:13Panicking over the consequences, Nicholas fired four more shots to his head, then dismembered
10:18his body and hid the remains throughout the house.
10:21Nicholas, I got a question for you, man.
10:22So they're, they're, they're, they're obviously worried about their family member, right?
10:25Yes, sir.
10:26Um, and when they, when they went up into his room, they're telling me that they found,
10:29uh, a couple of garbage bags that are really heavy that have blood on them.
10:34Yeah, I don't even know what that's about.
10:36but I haven't seen them.
10:36Another question.
10:37Uh, you don't have a firearm or anything in the house, do you?
10:40I do.
10:41You do?
10:41Where is it?
10:42Um, loaded, but it's not loaded or anything.
10:46Um, yeah.
10:48It's in your room?
10:49It's not loaded.
10:50Where is it in your room?
10:51On my bed?
10:52On your bed?
10:53Yeah.
10:53Like, just sitting there?
10:55Yes, sir.
10:56Okay, and you said it's not loaded.
10:57Where's, where's the ammunition?
10:59In the, whatever, the magazine, maybe, it's called?
11:03Where's the magazine?
11:04In the gun?
11:04No.
11:05I think, you know, I think I carried it out, you know?
11:08You think you carried it out?
11:09I think so, yeah.
11:11But, yeah, like I said, I don't, I don't know.
11:14If insanity was something, I don't know.
11:17I plead the fist.
11:19I don't, I don't know anymore.
11:20Why are you worried about pleading the fist?
11:22Like, why are you bringing that up?
11:24I don't know.
11:25Isn't that how that works?
11:26How what works?
11:28Temporary insanity, I guess.
11:30Temporary insanity.
11:31Why are you talking about temporary insanity?
11:33I don't know what you're talking about.
11:35Well, I'm just, I'm asking you why you're asking, why you said those things.
11:38I have no idea.
11:39You don't know why you said, I plead the fifth in temporary insanity.
11:43I don't know.
11:44I don't know.
11:44I don't know.
11:45I don't know.
11:46Okay, do you have any, uh, you don't have your gun on you right now, do you?
11:49Absolutely not.
11:50I see you, I see you have a knife in your pocket.
11:52Do I have a knife?
11:53Yeah, you have a knife.
11:54Oh, it's just a little carry knife.
11:56Oh, no, this is, this is just one of those.
11:58For my safety, can I take that for you for a little bit?
12:00A lot of my knife.
12:01Yep.
12:02Yes, I don't.
12:03You got anything in here either?
12:04What's all this?
12:05That I know.
12:06Keys?
12:06I don't think so.
12:08Do you mind if I look at me if you're just feeling the outside of this and tap it, too?
12:10Is that cool?
12:11Sure.
12:12Yeah.
12:12That's just your wallet?
12:13That's my wallet.
12:14Yeah.
12:14All right.
12:15Look, I'm just doing this on this, right over here.
12:18Yep.
12:19He came back and you found him where?
12:21Here.
12:22Like what?
12:22So you found him like that?
12:23What does that mean?
12:24I have no idea.
12:25Just, I didn't even find him, you know?
12:27He was just, uh, he just came back and then he's here.
12:32Like, I didn't find him any which way.
12:34It's okay.
12:35I guess I don't need to smoke anymore, ever, actually.
12:38I don't deserve to be able to smoke cigarettes.
12:41Like, why don't you deserve to smoke a cigarette?
12:42He said I don't have the money for it.
12:44I don't have, I can't afford him, so I'll buy him.
12:48Got it.
12:48Try to smoke him, you know?
12:51It would be nice.
12:52You know what?
12:52I'm going to shut the f*** up.
12:54Well, I mean, you're not under arrest or anything.
12:56We're just here to check on the roommate.
12:57And they found some things that make them worry.
13:00And because of that, now we're just going to go inside and check.
13:03That's it.
13:04So any information that you have to help, you know.
13:06Richie wasn't my good friend.
13:08He's still my good friend.
13:09Why?
13:10What do you want to smoke me?
13:12Oh my gosh.
13:13What's going on?
13:14Okay.
13:15Listen, I wish, and it's okay, I don't need a cigarette.
13:19I don't deserve it.
13:21I would like to smoke.
13:23That's not important.
13:24I think I'm just going to sit here.
13:26Officers needed to take a look at the bags in the other rooms for their investigation.
13:30But Nicholas was adamant that it wasn't a good idea for them to go inside.
13:35This thing moving along so we can get out of your hair, right?
13:38The family's obviously gone upstairs to check on their loved one.
13:41Yeah.
13:42Right?
13:42And they found some stuff that made them a little afraid.
13:45Yeah, like I said, I don't know.
13:47Because he isn't here and you live here, right?
13:50We want to ask you, right, if it's cool if we go inside and check on his things.
13:55I mean, I don't know.
13:58I have not been up here.
14:00I have not been here lately.
14:02I've been out and about trying to do DoorDash and stuff like that, you know.
14:06We'll end up here.
14:08But yeah, I live here.
14:10Yeah.
14:11We want to go upstairs, right, and look in the master bedroom where it's your roommate's bedroom for him.
14:18Just to check on him and see what's in there, all right?
14:21Yeah, if that's what, yeah.
14:24I mean, wait, you want to go upstairs and do what?
14:28We'll check to make sure everybody's okay.
14:32We'll go in by all means.
14:34Like, make sure everybody's okay.
14:36Yeah?
14:36I mean, uh...
14:38Yeah, I just heard a lot of, like, movement.
14:41I thought something was happening over there.
14:44I was just like, okay, whatever.
14:45It sounded like something was hitting the wall.
14:47What time was that?
14:48I want to say it was, like, probably midnight.
14:50Midnight?
14:50Yeah.
14:51We'll just have you sign something real quick, and then we'll...
14:53I'm not so sure, uh, going in right now would be a good idea, actually.
14:58What do you mean?
14:58Well, he's just, uh, let him, let him stay, uh, he's gone somewhere, is he not?
15:05I mean...
15:06I'm sorry, what?
15:07Is he, he's gone somewhere, is he not?
15:09Your roommate?
15:10Yes.
15:10Yes.
15:11Well, I don't know, where did he go?
15:13He went camping.
15:14How did he get there?
15:15I don't know.
15:16He's got some friends and stuff.
15:17Oh, okay.
15:18Yeah, I, last time I talked to him, I mean, I, I'm his friend, but I don't, I don't talk.
15:23Well, his family said he talked to him last night, and he wasn't camping.
15:27He wasn't camping?
15:28No.
15:28I have no idea.
15:29And you're saying he went camping two days ago and took his phone.
15:31A couple of days, well, I don't, I don't know.
15:33He didn't, he didn't tell them last night.
15:34He, he mentioned he wanted to not take his phone and stuff.
15:37Yeah, that's fine, but he, they talked to him last night.
15:39He talked to them last night?
15:40Who talked to him last?
15:41The family said they talked to him last night at 7 p.m.
15:43I don't know.
15:44I don't have, he didn't tell me about it, but.
15:46Okay.
15:47Yeah, I think it would be best not to go and.
15:50Oh, you don't want us to go in there?
15:51No, I don't think it would be a good idea.
15:53Is there a reason for that?
15:54I, no, there's no reason.
15:55It's just, I still gotta probably go back to work and stuff.
15:59So, I didn't do nothing, I'm not under arrest or anything like that.
16:02Nope, nope, you're not under arrest.
16:03I'm concerned with her family, which makes sense to me too.
16:06Yeah, I mean, they're, they're concerned that.
16:08Hey, Dietrich.
16:09Yeah.
16:09He changed his mind.
16:10He said no.
16:11Yeah, they saw some stuff inside that's concerning.
16:14Okay, so we want to go inside and make sure that everybody's okay.
16:17They saw some blood and stuff like that, so they're concerned that their family member could be hurt.
16:22But, uh, what I'm, what I'm thinking is, um, I'm not gonna think of anything.
16:29Yeah.
16:29But you don't want us going in there?
16:31No.
16:31You're not gonna give us consent?
16:32I don't think, there's no reason to.
16:34Okay.
16:34All right.
16:35Hang tight.
16:36Wait, uh, we're hanging tight?
16:40The only way to gain access to the house was to get a warrant for Nicholas.
16:44How long have you been living here, Nick?
16:45Five, six months or so.
16:48Oh, that's it?
16:49Where were you at before?
16:50Are you still here in Federal Way or were you in a different city?
16:52Yeah, something.
16:53I don't really recall where I was exactly.
16:55It was, uh, 702.
16:58You work at, uh, Jimmy John's?
16:59Jimmy John's?
17:00Yeah, but JJ had, I thought that was Jimmy John's.
17:02Oh, yeah, no.
17:03Is that just, uh?
17:04That's just a show hat, like.
17:05Oh, okay.
17:06Yeah, yeah.
17:06I do Door Dash.
17:08Oh, okay.
17:08You like it?
17:09Do I like it?
17:10Good days and bad days.
17:12It's like every job, man.
17:13Yes.
17:13But it's you that can determine if it is a good day.
17:16Don't let other people determine if it's gonna be a bad day.
17:19Yes and no.
17:20There's, I can't, I'm gonna get a coat.
17:22I'm gonna go get a coat on.
17:24Is that, can I, can I do that?
17:25You're gonna get a coat on?
17:26Yeah.
17:27I would prefer no.
17:28Fine, why do I not?
17:29I don't want you to go back inside right now until we figure out what's going on out here.
17:32We have some sort of suspicion of something going on.
17:36Of course.
17:36Now, because we didn't find, or you guys didn't find, you know, a human being, um, and that
17:42removes kind of our authority to go in for a wealth, a welfare check, right?
17:48If we, if we, if we, if we, the law says that if we have reason to believe that somebody's
17:53that life is an imminent risk of, you know, of death or bodily harm, that kind of stuff,
17:57then we can go in right away and make sure that everybody's safe, okay?
18:01Because that doesn't exist right now.
18:04What we're doing is we have to follow the law, right?
18:06He's asking, you know, he's said some, some suspicious things to you.
18:10You mind if I go in with you?
18:11Sure, come on.
18:12Yeah, you can stand at the door.
18:16Where's the coat at?
18:18FYI, there is a gun on his back at his room.
18:21Oh, this is the coat.
18:23Oh, never mind.
18:24Don't go back in yet.
18:25I'm not.
18:27I can't walk in with you to get the coat, right?
18:30No, I didn't look at the coat.
18:31No, I was trying to.
18:33The reason why I don't want you inside right now is because supposedly there's a gun inside.
18:37Yeah, it's upstairs, but it's fine.
18:39And we appreciate that, that you're letting us know,
18:41but for everybody's safety, 100% of the time,
18:44we're going to just keep people away from guns, right?
18:47Even if they're their own guns right now.
18:48So we just want you to just, that's one of the reasons why we're going to ask you to stop outside.
18:51So I should have, oh my goodness.
18:54So.
18:55He's not allowed in there.
18:56You're not allowed in there.
18:57Cool.
18:58You know what, you know what, never mind.
18:59I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't need it.
19:01I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine.
19:03I know you guys are already in the prosecutor's ward, but if it helps not, I'll go back in.
19:07Yeah, well, at this time, you know, because, you know, because.
19:09He's the suspicion that, you know.
19:10Well, you know, our hope, obviously, is that everything is fine, and who knows what, that is no crime.
19:17I'd rather be really, really wrong.
19:18That's our hope.
19:19But, in the event that that's not the case, we want to make sure that any evidence that we collect,
19:24anything that we find out, is done according to the law.
19:28She's his co-worker and best friend.
19:29She's the one that originally called for the first welfare check, and she's charged with him last night.
19:34Okay, I'll get your information, too.
19:35He seemed desperate to go in and finish the job, but wasn't clever enough to pull it off.
19:42Well, I'd like to go get my utility knife, so I can.
19:45No, we're going to leave that right there.
19:47But, it's my knife.
19:48Yeah, and you'll get it back.
19:49Do you need to cut something right now?
19:51Because I don't, there's nothing, I don't think you have a need for it.
19:53You're not in any danger.
19:53You've got three police officers protecting you.
19:55Wait a minute.
19:56I should go take a pee in my bathroom real quick.
20:00You guys mind if I.
20:01No, you've got to go back inside.
20:02But, I'd like to go just pee.
20:04Well, you can't go pee inside.
20:05You just can't.
20:06We're not letting you back inside right now.
20:07So, I can pee out here.
20:09I'm not going to stop you.
20:11That's pretty neat.
20:13But, I can go back inside.
20:15But, that's okay.
20:16I don't need to go back inside.
20:17Yeah, I'll just pee by the tree.
20:21Can't hold it?
20:23What?
20:23You want me to hold it?
20:25Huh?
20:26You want me to hold what?
20:27I mean, you can't hold it like a big boy?
20:29Oh, yes.
20:31Right here, I can go pee.
20:32By the tree, right?
20:34You guys don't want me to go pee?
20:36I don't understand.
20:36Well, we don't want you to pee out.
20:37In public, you can hold it.
20:40But, I understand the frustration.
20:41I was just going to go pee right on the tree.
20:45That way, it's out of the way.
20:47And, nobody's in looking, right?
20:49Isn't that how people can pee?
20:53Yeah.
20:54And, that's how people pee outside.
20:55Yeah, because that's what I have to do.
20:57I'm going to pee outside.
20:58You're saying, hold it.
20:59I don't know.
20:59I'm going to try to just pee real quick.
21:04Fellas, he's going to take a pee real quick.
21:07I think he can't hold it.
21:09Is that okay?
21:09Yep.
21:10Yep.
21:10Yep.
21:14I don't quite understand why we're...
21:16I don't quite know what they're doing.
21:22Amen.
21:22Yeah, I can hold it.
21:26Me good.
21:27Yep.
21:27I can hold it.
21:28Yep.
21:29Me good.
21:30I don't understand what you guys are doing.
21:32We're trying to figure that out, too, my friend.
21:34But, it's not, because you're a good guy.
21:36You've been talking to us.
21:37So, I appreciate that.
21:38You know, I don't need to talk to you guys.
21:40I mean, I just...
21:40I do.
21:41I haven't seen him at all lately, but I need to go...
21:46Go here.
21:48What do you need to do?
21:49There's something going on.
21:50Nothing's going on, man.
21:52Nothing's going on.
21:53What are you guys doing?
21:54I'm good.
21:59You want us to both stand right here?
22:01Uh, absolutely not.
22:03I'd like you over on that side,
22:05and maybe him just standing right there,
22:07and then I was going to go pee right there,
22:10and then I got to have peripheral vision over here on this one,
22:14and then peripheral vision over there on that one.
22:16Who knows, you know?
22:17But, um, I'm going to sit down.
22:19Hey, so, uh, I don't know if they kind of told you what's going on right now.
22:22Uh, I got some detectives that want to come out and talk to you real quick.
22:26Right now, it sounds like we're probably going to get a search warrant for your residence.
22:29I don't think that we don't need a search warrant, actually.
22:32I don't need a search warrant.
22:33Feel free.
22:34We do, though.
22:34Why would you need a search warrant?
22:38That's just nice as possible.
22:38Well, like I said, we're concerned about the well-being of your room.
22:42It took a while to process the search warrant,
22:45but based on what the witnesses and Richard's family members told the police,
22:49Nicholas was now to be placed under arrest.
22:51Hey, Nicholas.
22:52Uh, you are under arrest.
22:53Just stay seated.
22:54Okay, we're going to grab your hands and put them behind your back.
22:56I'd rather you just, I'd rather,
22:59I'd rather,
23:00Oh, I'd rather,
23:00Oh, God.
23:01Come on, man.
23:02I'm back to this.
23:04Okay, you not, wait.
23:06I know.
23:07Time, time.
23:09What is?
23:10What?
23:11We're going to have you talk to our detectives?
23:13Why are we, why are we, why are we have so many people around me?
23:18How many people we got here right now?
23:19So we're going to take you back to our station,
23:20have you talk to detectives.
23:22We're going to advise you to write real quick.
23:23Okay?
23:23Okay.
23:25I can't move.
23:27Are you supposed to know?
23:28Nope, not right now.
23:29I'm not really doing so good.
23:31Uh, Nicholas, you have the right to remain silent.
23:33Anything that you say,
23:33can,
23:33will be used against you in a court of law.
23:35You have the right at this time to talk to a lawyer
23:37and have him present with you while you're being questioned.
23:40If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer,
23:42one will be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish.
23:45You can decide at any time to exercise these rights
23:47and not answer any questions or make any statements.
23:50Uh, do you understand each of these rights
23:52as I've explained them to you?
23:55Nicholas, do you understand these rights
23:56as I've explained them to you?
23:58All right, we're going to walk to a car over here, Nicholas.
23:59Upon entering the property,
24:07the detectives found trash bags
24:08containing Richard's body parts in his room,
24:11as well as in several closets and the bathroom.
24:14In one room,
24:15they discovered a 9mm pistol,
24:17a large kitchen knife,
24:19Richard's phone,
24:20bloody socks,
24:21and a machete.
24:23They even found a bloody hatchet
24:25hidden beneath a pillow,
24:26along with bullet fragments in the living room.
24:28There were apparent bloodstains
24:30throughout the living room floor, as well.
24:35All right, but here,
24:36I'll lean back so I can get this seatbelt
24:38a little loose for you.
24:39Good.
24:40I would like these cuffs off.
24:41Yeah, we're going to get you
24:42just in just a little bit.
24:43We're going to walk inside.
24:44But, like, these cuffs are not beneficial for me.
24:48One, two, three, you're going nice in there.
24:50Step aside right here
24:51so I can close the door.
24:54I'm not ready to go right to that door right there.
24:56We'll get you out of them in just a second.
24:57I don't know if I can leave you anymore.
25:00That's what you keep saying to me.
25:02Okay, how about this?
25:02A few minutes.
25:04Well, I would like to
25:05just get out of them right now,
25:07and then,
25:08but I don't have a choice, do I?
25:10I'm trying to...
25:11I wonder why, though.
25:13I'm a good person.
25:14Why have I seen you before?
25:16I've seen you before, and...
25:18We've been hanging out and talking
25:20for, like, the last moments, two hours.
25:23If that's what you mean.
25:24Although your name does kind of ring a bell.
25:25Okay, here we go.
25:28Here we go.
25:29I don't have to stop you here.
25:30It's fine.
25:32I don't need to...
25:33I'm out of the way you're taking me.
25:35Do you look like I'm a bad guy?
25:38We're going to go out that way.
25:39You need to stop.
25:40I'm not a bad guy.
25:41I'm actually...
25:42Oh, yes.
25:44Please take these clubs off.
25:46Yeah, we're not going to do that.
25:47How am I supposed to sit down?
25:49Put your seat in?
25:50We can't do this anymore.
25:51This has to stop.
25:54I cannot keep having this happen.
25:57Especially when I didn't do anything.
25:59Even though...
26:00Listen to me.
26:01Okay, other foot...
26:02Listen to me.
26:02I'm listening.
26:03You can do it all the time.
26:03Even...
26:04I cannot get in with these handcuffs.
26:06Listen to me.
26:07Okay, look at that way for me.
26:08You're not listening.
26:09Look at that way for me.
26:10I'm going to put this...
26:10Look, stop.
26:12You're not listening.
26:13I am listening.
26:14I did not do anything.
26:16But that's...
26:17They're blaming me that I did something.
26:19Can you scoot back?
26:20No, how am I supposed to...
26:21No, these things are...
26:22Okay, look that way again.
26:23I can't...
26:25Listen, listen.
26:26You're not...
26:27Why are you not listening?
26:28I am listening.
26:29Because you are not...
26:30I'm not important anymore.
26:31I forgot.
26:31That's not true.
26:32I'm listening to you, sir.
26:33Listen, these...
26:34These cuffs on my fingers...
26:36I checked them and...
26:36I cannot get...
26:38This is how they're supposed to be.
26:39Nicholas was charged with first-degree murder,
26:42and his bail was set at $2 million.
26:44His court hearing was scheduled for May 5th.
26:47We don't have any information
26:49regarding the court's decision as of now.
26:51But this case makes one wonder.
26:53Who can you trust,
26:54if not a friend of many years?
26:56The world is just becoming
