Malaysian Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has lambasted the decision by social media platform TikTok to appoint a former Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) soldier as its hate content manager in New York.
He said the move was insensitive and lacked integrity on the part of the platform, raising concerns about the use of algorithms to control the type of content for users in Malaysia.
00:00This is one action that is not sensitive and the result of the free work in countries and countries has shown that the cash that is given to staff is very high.
00:22And that is why we are concerned that the TikTok is also in the process of taking care of workers.
00:37as a moderator,
00:38and they will be hoping to AI,
00:40meaning that we will have a situation
00:44in which some of them may be pro-pro
00:48to Zionists,
00:52it will not be able to come into our algorithm.
00:59This is the reason why I gave the first part.
01:03So, the first part is the reason why I talked to the CEO of the team.
01:09So, if it happens, if it happens in the world,
01:11if it happens in the world,
01:14if it happens in the world,
01:16what is the action?
01:18If we take a action that is very clear,
01:21because TikTok has been listened to,
01:23then we will take a action.
01:26We can take a action.
01:28But we will start with a conversation.
01:31So, in the next part, I will call.
01:35Not only from TikTok,
01:37but from other social media platforms
01:42to make a conversation
01:44with the PDRM,
01:48the Jabatan Peguai Negara
01:50about some of the things.
01:52And especially for TikTok,
01:53this is also what we want to talk about.
01:55They may say that it is separate.
01:58But I don't see it as a thing that is separate.
