Swindon 2 Shrewsbury 1 - Ollie Westbury reaction
Transcript
00:00When it goes against you, it goes against you, and that is what's happened for Shrewsbury Town today
00:06here at the county ground against Swindon Town.
00:09Salop looked as if they had pinched a late point when Callum Stewart scored his first Football League goal
00:15in the 89th minute. Will Boyle made first contact from a set piece, and it went in off Callum Stewart's back.
00:22His first goal, probably one of the most scrappiest he will score in his career,
00:26but it looked to have earned Shrewsbury a point here.
00:28But unfortunately, four minutes later, in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the game,
00:34Salop were undone with a late sucker punch as Billy Bowden struck one from the edge of the box,
00:38kind of at Eli Harrison, got a hand on it, and it nestled into the corner of the net.
00:43Shrewsbury have been pretty poor at times this season, but on this occasion,
00:47I thought that they played pretty well here at the county ground.
00:50They didn't start the game that well, and obviously they trailed inside six minutes,
00:55but as the game wore on, they came into it more and more.
00:57They probably had as many opportunities in that half, in that 90 minutes of football
01:01as they've had in the entirety of the season combined, and they did look like scoring,
01:05and they were good value for that 1-1 draw, but it looked like it was going to
01:10until they switched off at the back, right at the death.
01:14Can it be considered as progress? Ultimately, they still lost,
01:17but there are some positives to take from that this afternoon.
01:23A lot of the games that we've been, and we've watched so far, this campaign,
01:26there's not been an awful lot that you can take from them,
01:28but I think there's some glimpses there that Shrewsbury can offer a threat,
01:31that they can create opportunities, and the problem is that they often need them
01:36to fall to their captain, John Marquis.
01:38He looks like their most likely avenue and most likely route to goal.
01:41It looks like they need the ball to fall for him if they are to score.
01:47Disappointing, nonetheless, and Michael Appleton saying in his post-match press conference
01:51that it's the travelling fans that he feels sorry for after Shrewsbury
01:55have only managed to take one point from their first five League Two games.
