00:04Everybody, wake up, called Wukong.

00:20The travelers had camped for a night in the woods.

00:23The Tang Monk woke up and stretched.

00:26Wu Jing opened his eyes and yawned.

00:31Bha Jai moaned,

00:32It's too early. Let me sleep just a few more hours.

00:39Bha Jai, don't be lazy, said the Tang Monk.

00:42It's time to get up. Please start making breakfast.

00:47The pig got to his feet.

00:50All we do is work, he said.

00:53Cook food, carry bags, walk, walk, walk.

00:59We're on a noble mission, said Wu Jing.

01:02Because of our difficult journey, the Tang Empire will have the true scriptures.

02:02Two Taoist priests stood nearby.

02:05They were dressed in fine clothes.

02:08Work faster, yelled one of the priests.

02:11The Buddhists looked frightened.

02:14They struggled to move the cart faster.

02:18Why are those monks pushing that cart?

02:20Thought Wukong.

02:22And why are they scared of the Taoists?

02:29The monkey waited for the Taoists to leave.

02:32Then he made himself look like a Buddhist monk.

02:39Hello, said Wukong.

02:41Walking toward the group of monks.

02:43Why are you pushing this cart?

02:46The monks stopped pushing the cart and turned toward Wukong.

02:50They looked surprised.

02:52You must be new here, one monk said.

02:56You should leave before you're discovered.

02:59Why? asked Wukong.

03:02Taoists are in charge here, said another monk.

03:05Wukong shrugged.

03:07People from different religions can still get along.

03:11Not in this kingdom, said the first monk.

03:14Buddhists are treated horribly here.

03:17The Taoists make us do hard work.

03:20Why do the Taoists treat you so badly? asked Wukong.

03:24Years ago this kingdom had a drought, said the monk.

03:27Crops died and people starved.

03:30Buddhist monks prayed to Buddha for rain, but no rain came.

03:36One day a powerful Taoist arrived, said the other monk.

03:40He's called the Tiger Immortal.

03:43He recited prayers and right away rain fell.

03:48Since then, Taoists have been in charge.

03:51They destroyed all the Buddhist monasteries and statues.

03:54That's terrible, said Wukong.

04:00Those Taoists can't get away with this.

04:03The Taoists won't treat us this way forever, said a third monk.

04:07The spirit of the planet Venus visited us in a dream one night.

04:11He said that one day someone would come along to save us.

04:14A fierce monkey spirit, said the monk.

04:24His name is Sun Wukong.

04:27He is so powerful that heaven's entire army couldn't defeat him.

04:32Wukong smiled.
