00:00this is very important when I tell you stop what that means is stop whatever you're doing
00:16give me a clean break protect yourself at all times obey my commands all time both of you
00:23gentlemen are world-class championship caliber pressionals I expect you to act that way
00:28Mr. Pacquiao Mr. Bradley let's do this we're so used to seeing him look physically unimposing
00:39that in this it looks like a fair fight and we're underway he's still to me looks significantly
00:46smaller he has put together Bradley and if this was a bodybuilding competition then it's one thing
00:51but man he has he lives extra lean and very strict on his diet he has always worked hard his entire
01:00life look genetically he's gifted as we're out to a fast pace Pacquiao lunging forward already doubling
01:06up on the jab is Bradley this is a quick pace right out of the gate it is maybe he feels he needs to
01:10warm up a little bit I mean I was really concerned about and I see a band-aid under Pacquiao's right
01:16elbow I don't know what that's about if you notice there's a band-aid there you know I saw that at
01:21the way in two straight right hand lands from Bradley I noticed that at the way and I figured
01:24that'd just be gone as he got back into the ring already we've seen a quick pace here and Bradley
01:30having some effectiveness oh good shot Pacquiao hit a shot on the way in he is going to have to earn his
01:35way in against Bradley we can see that already and already I can see that Timothy Bradley's not being
01:40the aggressor he is choosing to be a little bit more of the counter puncher allowing Pacquiao to be more
01:44of the aggressor I tell you what though you can tell he's done his homework he is throwing out a
01:48double jab every time he wants to get near and he's looking for that counter right hand which
01:52obviously works very well against Southpast crowd is into it already in the opening minute and a half
02:00of round number one as we see crisp action from the get-go no feeling out here they're feeling out
02:05at high speeds and if you're looking for one of these fighters to wear out they're both energizer
02:10bunnies these guys are not going to slow down anytime soon historically great in that regard
02:15you're absolutely right Mario you know I'm really surprised at how composed Bradley looks how he's
02:21changed his style to become more of a counter puncher Pacquiao tries straight up the middle those punches
02:29blocked you're right there he is definitely composed Bradley's composed in the pocket already shooting
02:35out jabs balanced and looking for the attack points because you know Bradley based on his history is a
02:41fighter that likes to put pressure is a fighter who's relentless who's swarms good body shots and
02:46those are scoring blows by the way for Bradley another shot down low I say low I don't mean
02:51illegally load down to the body Bradley doing a great job this first round
02:55said before the fight Pacquiao is a superstar Bradley's just a world champion boxer nothing else matters all
03:06that other nonsense goes out the window when everyone clears out of the ring good counter right by Bradley
03:11he is really making his mark in the first round establishing himself with authority and let's keep in
03:17mind Pacquiao much like Randall Bailey in the fight prior has that one punch equalizer that can change the
03:23fight there it is he just throw it the left hand that is one of the best weapons in the sport the
03:28straight left hand from Pacquiao now he goes to work Pacquiao measuring them and getting the time and a
03:32little bit more and now he's starting to warm up Brian firing again but that one was slipped by
03:38Bradley outstanding first round both in the sense of action and in the sense of Timothy Bradley
03:44establishing himself but no no I'm a champion in here too I was very impressed by Timothy Bradley in that
03:49round okay every time he takes a step forward you slide back he's totally short every time you block in the
03:57neck
03:57speed
03:59speed
04:00good boy
04:10good boy
04:25So much for one voice coming out of the corner.
04:32That's Guboy Fernandez, close friend of his in his second usually when he's training in the Philippines.
04:37Freddie Roach not saying much.
04:38Joel Diaz, intense, asking him to step back and strictly asking him to counter.
04:43Every time Pacquiao goes aggressive, take back and counterpunch and let go of that right hand.
04:48He'll walk into something.
04:49Round number two here, the main event.
04:51Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley, and Timothy Bradley, the junior welterweight champion of the world.
04:56Extremely impressive in the first round because this is a super fight.
05:00This is a big moment.
05:01And normally you'll see some apprehension, some feeling out, some rough work as he catches a straight left hand from Pacquiao.
05:07But he went right past that and got right into a good boxing match.
05:11And I think Bradley has the exact, and that's exactly the hook that I thought Pacquiao is going to clutch him with.
05:16Much like Kendall Hope.
05:18And this is what I was talking about earlier, Brian.
05:20That now the swarming and the rapid punches that Bradley's doing.
05:23And once you get hit, you are who you are.
05:26And essentially, whatever you're made of comes on.
05:28And Robert Byrd, look, I think some of those shots weren't legal.
05:32I agree.
05:32But Robert Byrd, I like the general sensibility he has in fight out of that.
05:37Don't don't look to me.
05:38Fight out of that, fellas.
05:39And I tell you what, Bradley showed he's got the Bushido.
05:42He's got the fighting spirit in that, hey, if I'm close to you, I'm going to try to harm you.
05:46Well, that's the Bradley we're used to seeing.
05:48That's the Bradley who came out once he got hit.
05:50He felt a little of that power.
05:51Showing no respect for Pacquiao as Bradley steps in and ups the work rate.
05:55Yet, he has been caught now and then by something electric by Pacquiao.
05:59Anything can happen here.
06:00Yes, and I firmly believe Pacquiao's right hook is going to be the secret weapon tonight.
06:05It just landed, too, Mario.
06:06You're spot on.
06:07That right hook just lands off the side of the head of Bradley.
06:10But he was not hurt.
06:12Felt it, though.
06:13It's a scoring shot.
06:16Took Pacquiao about two rounds.
06:17This would want to warm up and get into the group of things.
06:20But Bradley's doing a good job of sticking to his game plan.
06:23Still counter-punching.
06:24Which, by the way, I think is his best plan of attack.
06:29What an answer by Timothy Bradley.
06:30As he gets backed up, Bradley then just bulldozed Pacquiao with good, clean punches back to the ropes.
06:36I haven't seen that in a long time.
06:38He's fighting a very, very smart fight.
06:40I don't know if I've seen it ever, actually.
06:42I've seen big guys bulldoze him.
06:44I've seen Delahoy a jab at him.
06:46And I've never seen him go back by a guy throwing strong combinations.
06:50He's a bulldog in there.
06:52He's smaller.
06:53He's able to get into these punches.
06:54Smaller meaning in height.
06:55But he looks smooth, too, right now.
06:57He's throwing out a smooth jab.
06:59He is, and he's taking steps back.
07:00I'm telling you, the blueprint has been set on how to make Pacquiao's life complicated in the ring.
07:06And that's Juan Manuel Marquez.
07:09And that's the page they're turning through now.
07:11Manny Pacquiao going in.
07:12Wants to hit him with his money shot.
07:14Look, Manny Pacquiao has become a superstar by being willing to wade through the fire of Miguel Cotto, of Antonio Margarito.
07:23Here, though, he's facing a very different buzzsaw.
07:26Not a bigger, slower man.
07:28A man who's his size, who seems to be just as strong and just as fluid offensively.
07:32A high-volume output is what Timothy Bradley has.
07:35A high-volume output because he's able to stand and trade with him, then it'll get interesting.
07:40Here's Manny Pacquiao with a big left hand.
07:44Bradley taking that punch rather well.
07:45I tell you what, there was, let's listen in if we can, to the corner of Pacquiao.
07:53Does Manny suddenly need to be translated?
07:57I don't get it.
07:58There's a lot of voices in that corner.
07:59Oh, thank you.
08:00I think they just, they, they, they, they're so passionate about it.
08:04Blue boys coming in.
08:05Joel Diaz in the corner says, you're controlling the fight.
08:08Other words coming in through saying, don't get careless.
08:10Wow, a good body shot there by Bradley, acknowledged by Pacquiao.
08:15Very different challenge here.
08:17Even though with the historic run of Manny Pacquiao, he's facing something very different here.
08:22Again, a champ in his prime who is fluid, relaxed, and has a better offensive arsenal than I've seen before.
08:28And has a great strategy that he seems to be implying.
08:32This is the blueprint to make his life tough inside the ring.
08:36And he's being, he's gotten caught with some leather, and he's being disciplined and sticking with the game plan.
08:42There have been two occasions as Bradley measures Pacquiao, moves in right away.
08:46He's being aggressive.
08:47There's been twice as he catches him with a hook, where he has been hit with something flushed by Pacquiao, and he has not been wobbled.
08:53You've got to be sturdy to be able to take any type of shot from Pacquiao.
08:55Well, he's in tremendous shape, and he's shown some good whiskers in the past, Timothy Bradley.
09:00That was a good uppercut there by Pacquiao.
09:03And Bradley, if he's been guilty of something in the past that has been a weakness, it's he does lean a bit forward.
09:07He can get caught by that.
09:08That was the one thing I was concerned and would hope would not come up, and hope he didn't jinx it.
09:13But headbutts are pretty common in Timothy Bradley fights.
09:16So far, though, what we've seen, oh, and a jab and a quick left hand there by Pacquiao lands.
09:21So he's getting closer.
09:23A good head movement by Bradley there allows him to get out of harm's way.
09:27And you know, Pacquiao, not for all his many combinations or working the body as much as he's used to, going a lot of headhunting.
09:34I don't know if he's got something to prove him.
09:35Beautiful combinations of Pacquiao.
09:39Bradley fires right back.
09:40And those are three punch combinations he's throwing.
09:43And he's throwing them hard.
09:45Fires right back.
09:46We've got a firefight in the third round.
09:48This is an action-packed fight, and Pacquiao is throwing punches with bad intentions.
09:53That is the difference, too.
09:54You're absolutely right, Mauro.
09:55And also, there is no, as Teddy Atlas would always say, guy I've worked with for many years, there's no silent contract between the two.
10:02When he gets in close, it's not, hey, if you don't hit me, I won't hit you.
10:04Bradley's saying, no, no, it's on.
10:06It's all on.
10:07You're exactly right.
10:07I love Teddy Atlas, and you're exactly right, and that's a great reference.
10:10A lot of people were questioning whether his newfound faith softened him.
10:13I firmly believe faith never softens a man.
10:15He looks hungrier than ever.
10:17Pacquiao.
10:18I'm telling you, they're both men of faith.
10:19They both have beliefs now in their family.
10:22Pacquiao, of course, recently coming to a clean life.
10:25I think this is purely an element of what he is facing in the ring as he backs up Bradley now and goes after him.
10:30He's facing a man his size for the first time in a long time, but a man who can really fight, and a guy, as you mentioned, has a real game plan, and I've never seen Bradley look smoother off the jab.
10:41You're exactly the best I've ever seen him.
10:43He's in his prime with a great game plan, and seems to be executing it thus far.
10:48A couple of faints from Pacquiao.
10:50And by the way, living a clean, hard life his whole life.
10:53Yes.
10:53I mean, he has built himself for this moment.
10:56Biggest moment of his life.
10:56Look at the head movement by Bradley.
10:58He got caught with something and moved, but he was just off balance.
11:05Impressed by the defense of Timothy Bradley as well.
11:07Hurt in there at the moment, but he's not having as easy time as he usually does.
11:11You could make a case that Timothy Bradley has won all three rounds here tonight.
11:16Yes.
11:16I gave the first two to Bradley, trying to score, and I know it's not an official score, more so far in the fight, but I'm just pointing out what I'm seeing.
11:23Third round, I think, could have gone either way.
11:24That shot might have been low by Bradley, but when you're looking at a Pacquiao fight, you're thinking, hey, it's possible he's down 3-0.
11:31That's eye-opening.
11:32Caught up with another right hook right there.
11:34I still believe that is going to come into play later on in the fight.
11:39Pacquiao not working the body as much, and I'm very surprised that he is not sticking to usually what appears to be his game plan,
11:49which is to break down the body and to be a little bit more of a counter punch as opposed to the aggressive.
11:54Good body shot there by Bradley.
11:56Left hook to the body, and Pacquiao starts to get riled up.
12:00He is going to have to fight fire with fire here with Bradley.
12:03There's that right hook.
12:10Both landed on that.
12:12Good exchange by both.
12:14Pacquiao now digging in with an uppercut.
12:15We're seeing a high work rate here every round.
12:17High work rate.
12:18Conditioning is going to come into play, and both these guys don't look like they're getting tired anytime soon.
12:23Pacquiao seems to enjoy the combat, so he seems to be enjoying this as he throws a thudding left hand off the head of Bradley.
12:29He's a warrior at heart, and his facial expression, still smiling and enjoying this.
12:35I think he just said to Bradley, keep him up.
12:37He's having fun in there.
12:39He really is.
12:39He knows he's in there with something serious.
12:41I have to say, if I'm in Pacquiao's camp, I'd be concerned about what's happening in the corner.
12:47How many guys are talking to him?
12:49Where's Freddie Roach?
12:50What's going on?
12:51I don't know.
12:52Bradley's doing a great job defensively, bowing down of that old throw to James Toney, tuck and roll.
12:57I'm not getting hit.
13:00He blocked a lot of those shots, but when you're landing all of those, you're putting them out there.
13:05That looks impressive to a judge, and this very well could go to the judges.
13:11And it's not as if he's laying back and being technical.
13:14I'm talking about Bradley.
13:15He's actually firing.
13:17He's throwing harmful shots at Pacquiao.
13:19So if I'm thinking as a judge, like if this goes to the cards, he's impressing the judge.
13:24Good body shot there by Pacquiao.
13:25If you notice, though, other than this moment, he's been...
13:29Pacquiao lands in the left hand.
13:31Lands in the left hand, and Bradley wobbles a little bit.
13:34It didn't look like much at first, but he snapped the head back, and Bradley could be hurt.
13:37Another body shot by Pacquiao.
13:39Bradley moving his head.
13:41Bradley seeing the overwhelming amount of punches that you cannot prepare for when you fight a Manny Pacquiao.
13:47And this is the type of spar, and he is hurt.
13:49He is holding on, and he is hurt.
13:50He is looking to hold on.
13:51And taking advantage, and the ref giving him a nice long time to recuperate.
13:55Let's see if Manny Pacquiao can take advantage.
13:56That's a good professional move by Bradley.
13:58We saw that recently with Green Bay.
14:00Nice body shot against Shane Mosley.
14:02He got hurt.
14:03He held on.
14:04Can Bradley hold on?
14:05Nice body shot and a nice left hook by Pacquiao.
14:07Oh, nice right by Bradley.
14:09Power right by Bradley punctuates what was a very good round by Bradley until he got rocked.
14:15Wow.
14:16Excellent display.
14:18Now, this is a flurry of punches thrown by Manny Pacquiao.
14:21He comes at you at so many different angles.
14:24He keeps you so off balance that when you're getting hit,
14:27it may appear to the judges that they're landing flush.
14:30That one there did land flush.
14:32But he's hitting you.
14:33He'll hit you on the hips, on the angles.
14:35How is Timothy Bradley dizzy from being turned around so much?
14:39A tornado that is Manny Pacquiao.
14:41He throws shots from all different angles.
14:43As we saw when he did dethrone Marco Antonio Barrera.
14:47It's a very unconventional fighter.
14:50And it's the shots that you don't see that really hurt you.
14:52And it looked like Bradley just got his head moved.
14:56And then he spun back.
14:57And to see that moment of weakness was alarming.
14:59And Manny Pacquiao smacking the gloves.
15:01He's warm now, Brian.
15:02He's warm.
15:05I think he knows what he's in for.
15:07And he's ready to engage.
15:09Absolutely right.
15:10He is boxing's great warrior.
15:14And he knows what he's in for tonight.
15:16He knows he has a great challenge ahead of him.
15:18And he seems to be enjoying it.
15:19That doesn't mean it might not be Timothy Bradley's night.
15:23That's still unfolding.
15:24You're right.
15:25And you know what?
15:25Regardless, that's the point.
15:26He is a true warrior.
15:27Doesn't rest on his laurels.
15:29Obviously has all the resources he needs and money that he needs to live very comfortably.
15:33But still cares about finishing the show out strong.
15:36Still wants to knock out his opponent.
15:38Still doesn't do enough to just get by.
15:40Wants to please people.
15:41Tell you what.
15:42He also has...
15:42Look, he's engaged in the fight now.
15:44He's not thinking of winning rounds.
15:45Right.
15:45But if you take a step back, he has to also start winning rounds.
15:48Good jab there by Pacquiao.
15:50Because you could easily give the first three to Bradley.
15:53Fourth round you give to Pacquiao if Bradley got hurt.
15:55As his feet cross again.
15:56He keeps you spinning and he comes at so many different angles.
16:00It's a really hard thing to prepare for.
16:04As the work rate goes down, I think it goes in favor of Pacquiao, Mario.
16:09Because he's got the faster hands.
16:10And the one shot.
16:11Right.
16:11If there's going to be one shot that ends it, it's going to come from Pacquiao and not Bradley.
16:15Can Bradley keep that insane work rate?
16:18Two good shots there that both landed.
16:20Those are scoring shots to the face of Manny Pacquiao.
16:23Pacquiao is still going headhunting a lot.
16:25I'd like to see him go to the body more and I'm sure Freddie would too.
16:27Flicking out a jab is Bradley.
16:37This is the first moment we've had to breathe.
16:39This is the first low.
16:40I'm surprised Pacquiao has given him this opportunity after having him hurt in this last round.
16:46And just, I would say, you know, just a tinge of energy drain on Bradley's part.
16:54Not tired, not coasting, but just stepping off the accelerator a little bit.
17:00It's a murderous pace that they're putting themselves through, both of them.
17:04And I see it affecting Bradley slightly even now.
17:08And this is a guy, when you look at him, looks like he could fight 100 rounds in a row.
17:11Oh, uppercut.
17:12Got to Bradley.
17:13Now, no, he's hurt.
17:14Moves back along the ropes.
17:15Pacquiao hurt him.
17:17Pacquiao is landing that left hand now, it seems, with a lot more aggression, a lot more frequency.
17:23As Bradley bends down too, he's going to be vulnerable to some sort of uppercut hook hybrid that Pacquiao can throw.
17:29The fudding concussive power comes from Pacquiao here.
17:34Bradley moving forward, now lunging forward.
17:36And that does not bode well for Pacquiao uppercut.
17:41Wigging power shots from both fighters.
17:45They're going to war.
17:47Tremendous fight.
17:49Manny Pacquiao coming up with a big left hook.
17:52Really catching Bradley flush.
17:54With no leverage too.
17:55I mean, Mario, he has no leverage throwing that shot, yet it hurts.
17:57He comes at you again.
18:00It's unorthodox to his credit.
18:03Jack, look at me.
18:04It's for your family, man.
18:06Hey, you got to do this.
18:07You got to do this.
18:08You got to do this.
18:09Okay, let's fucking do it, man.
18:10Keep the goddamn defense.
18:11Keep your head up.
18:12Look at your breath.
18:12Bradley with his head hanging low.
18:21Oh, look at Manny's wife, a little chinky, jumping up.
18:25We saw Timothy Bradley's wife, Monica, earlier.
18:29And she was still looking on with trepidation.
18:31She knows what her husband is in for.
18:32And wasn't it a different corner for Bradley that time, Mario?
18:36Wow.
18:36You just saw the body language with Bradley's head down, asking him to not give up, basically.
18:42His father came in, whispered words of encouragement.
18:45His trainer shouting to him to not give up, to do it for his family.
18:49Not getting exactly instructions, now trying to get to his core.
18:52Coming out, pumping a pretty hard jab.
18:55Look, all the while, right, you're absolutely right.
18:57That was the corner of a decided change in tone from you're controlling this fight to
19:01starting to question him.
19:02And they could easily be up three rounds to two.
19:05At worst, down two rounds to three.
19:06Exactly right.
19:07But they know.
19:08Look, you're in for something very special here.
19:11This is not some ordinary human in Manny Pacquiao.
19:14And while he has been, he looks slightly rusty.
19:17He's facing a very different animal this time around.
19:20But Bradley's still with his hands full.
19:22He has come out now.
19:22That's one minute of this round where it has been all Bradley.
19:25If you're a judge, you cannot forget that one minute where the jabs have been coming from Bradley.
19:29And Pacquiao has chosen, and I don't know if it's out of respect for his power or just to time him like that,
19:35but he's chosen to fight in spurts.
19:38Bradley has been better when he's been on the attack constantly.
19:42Yeah.
19:42Pacquiao, if he's being attacked, cannot unleash the fury on you.
19:47And that's what we saw, I think, in the opening two rounds at the very least.
19:50Bradley was so busy.
19:52He was so sharp, so fluid.
19:55Pacquiao was just kind of looking back going, what do I do with this guy?
19:58If you look at the past few fights, too, whether it was Nicole Cotto or even Margarita,
20:03Pacquiao always takes like a round or two to kind of get the timing, to kind of get the distance,
20:06to really kind of figure it out.
20:08And it seems to be the case here.
20:09It maybe even took him a little longer because of the delay and the warming up.
20:13Not to take anything away from Timothy Bradley, who's been executing a great game plan.
20:16Well, that's it.
20:16I know, even you mentioned that Cotto was a complete fighter coming in,
20:19and I thought Cotto came in, was the bigger man, was a good boxer,
20:22and Pacquiao had to just wade through the fire to take him out.
20:25But Cotto and Margarita both don't have the tight hand speed that Bradley has.
20:30Correct.
20:30Short, tight, compact punches.
20:33Very compact punches.
20:35And, you know, he's done a really good job, Ryan, I think, of his defense
20:38with that sort of bob and weave style.
20:40This has been a quieter round now, but this is a round that has also scored
20:44and means just as much as the other ones.
20:45And he's catching him a lot with those uppercuts, and he's got him in the corner.
20:49Oh, that's a beautiful body shot.
20:51Two good shots from Pacquiao.
20:52Now Bradley in the corner.
20:53And here's where the round could be stolen away from him.
20:56Pacquiao is looking for that explosive 15 seconds that could win him the round.
21:00It certainly does in the court of public opinion here at the MGM Grand.
21:07Oh, beautiful uppercut.
21:09Beautiful.
21:10Oh, and that's that elusive bobbing head movement that they clearly worked on in camp,
21:14and it's turning out really, really well.
21:16Bradley has slowed down just a bit.
21:18And I think if Pacquiao attacked the body, Brian, at this point, he might stop him.
21:22Mario, who won that round?
21:24Now here's that flurry I was talking about.
21:26Got him in the corner, and there was a big uppercut right there that landed.
21:29We can't see on that angle.
21:30Another great body work here.
21:32It was a hard right he gave him right to the body.
21:34There it is right there.
21:35Another shot to the body.
21:36That flurry and a couple of the hard shots in the bidding, I think, was enough to win that round.
21:40That's it.
21:41I would say, as we get ready for round seven, it's been a terrific fight.
21:44Brian Kenney and Mario Lopez here at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
21:48We've seen great action, but that is the classic case of do you go for the greater punishment in a short spurt
21:54or a full two minutes where it was only Bradley doing the work?
21:59I don't have an exact answer, but I'm saying you could give that round to Bradley.
22:03I'm pointing that out.
22:03No, no, no.
22:04Yes, yes.
22:04Of course you could.
22:05I personally, the way I look at scoring, I always look at who would I rather be in that round.
22:10Yeah, at the end of that, certainly, you'd rather be Manny Pacquiao as another uppercut Lance.
22:16We had a member of Bradley's team come crashing down on the side of our table here.
22:20That was his father.
22:20That was his dad.
22:21He was a big guy.
22:22He was okay.
22:22He just slipped.
22:23There's just a lot of people in the corner, right?
22:25And you can see in both corners now.
22:27Everyone wants to get into the ear of their man.
22:31A lot of concern and dangerously close to head-butting right in front of us here.
22:35Bradley turned around quickly, just fought a little orthodox there for a quick exchange.
22:39Very versatile fighter.
22:41There's just a...
22:42I would say there's just a little bit of a wane in the energy of Timothy Bradley.
22:48I don't know if he could have kept up that pace.
22:50He's famously in great shape.
22:53But he has sensed just a little weakening in him.
22:55That's a bad word, but you know what I'm saying.
22:56No, and I don't think it's due to fatigue.
22:58I think it's due to those hard left hands that he caught and a couple of those hard body shots.
23:03And you know what, Mario?
23:04He has landed his most effective shots where he hasn't had full impact or leverage.
23:07He's just thrown these grazing wild shots.
23:09But any time Pacquiao catches you with those heavy hands of his, he does damage.
23:14Yeah, he's a heavy, he's one of those guys, as you can see him, and you see him up close and personal right now.
23:18I know you hadn't called a fight of his before.
23:20He's a small guy.
23:22He's small by frame.
23:24And when you stand next to him, it's just amazing the power that he carries.
23:27He is one of the most physically unimposing champions I've ever seen.
23:33And yet, he's one of the greatest champions this sport has ever had.
23:35Yes.
23:37Fighting off the ropes now.
23:39Pacquiao spinning and throwing a right uppercut.
23:42He likes this.
23:44Pacquiao likes this.
23:45And this is not the type of exchange that Timothy Bradley wants to get into.
23:52Yeah, he wants it smooth.
23:53He wants to stick out the jab.
23:55He wants to double up on the jab.
23:56By the way, doubling up on the jab has kind of gone away.
23:58It has, and that's what was so effective.
24:00That's a good combination right there.
24:01Scored with the body shot.
24:03And an uppercut.
24:03Nice right hand.
24:04Answering with the left hand is Pacquiao.
24:08Any of these shots can put someone down.
24:11Pacquiao is brilliant at, if you connect on him, retaliating quickly.
24:18What we don't see right now, as we get to the final 30 seconds of round 7, Mario,
24:23is that frenetic energy that we saw when he was fighting, say, Marco Antonio Barrera.
24:28The constant head movement and the dancing and the moving up and down
24:31that made him impossible to fight.
24:32He is more in front of a man now.
24:34Well, I think that's, again, due to age and the fact that he's in his 30s now.
24:39He's been in so many wars, Brian.
24:40We were talking about it.
24:41I mean, forget the number of fights that he's had.
24:44They've been physical wars.
24:46And it's bound to take its toll.
24:50There's an exchange where they're in the corner where I'm really surprised.
24:53Manny, that's where Timothy Bradley usually does some of his best work,
24:56but Manny's got such fast hands.
24:58And we've come so close to having headbutts,
25:00but fortunately they haven't happened, Brian.
25:02And that would be such a bummer on this fight.
25:04So let's hope it still continues.
25:06Yeah, he has fought more fluidly, more balanced on his feet,
25:09sitting down on his punches.
25:11We're through 7.
25:13Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley.
25:15Manny Pacquiao, a three-time fighter of the year.
25:18The only other men to have done so, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard,
25:21Joe Frazier, and Muhammad Ali.
25:23That's good company.
25:25Excellent company.
25:26Deserves to be there.
25:27Right now, through 7.
25:32And again, we're scoring it here as we're calling the fight.
25:34But I think, depending on how you scored round 6, Mario,
25:37I have it 4-3 either way.
25:39I could easily have it 4-3 Bradley.
25:40Even though it seems like it's becoming Pacquiao's night,
25:43you could.
25:43I would not question the judge who had it 4-3 Bradley right now.
25:47Conceivably, I agree.
25:48However, I think the most important thing right now
25:50is the momentum seems to be with Manny Pacquiao
25:53as we go down the stretch.
25:56And they asked in the corner for Timothy Bradley,
25:59they asked him,
25:59can you give me 5 more of these?
26:01Because he needs to be at such a high work rate
26:03to beat this man.
26:04Yes, he does.
26:05Good body shots by Bradley.
26:07Now he tries to fire off a double jab, but misses.
26:09Coming in with the head, and now Bradley seems hurt.
26:17It was Bradley that ducked in, if I'm not mistaken.
26:22Now maybe Pacquiao pulled him in.
26:25We'll take another look at that if we get a chance.
26:28But Bradley again, against Devin Alexander,
26:31seemed to be jumping in with his head the whole night.
26:33And good shot there.
26:35Right hook again by Pacquiao.
26:37Bradley answers back.
26:40Look at the knockouts after round 7.
26:42Look, Pacquiao's a machine.
26:43Bradley's a guy who will box and beat you
26:45and physically impose his will.
26:47Rarely, though, will he just drop you with a shot.
26:51Pacquiao is smiling as he gets off the ropes.
26:54Pacquiao's used to being against the ropes
26:55against some strong, big guys.
26:57He's had Clotty, Margarito, Cotto all tee off on him,
27:00sort of against the ropes,
27:01so he's very comfortable there.
27:04Right, it must be different for him
27:06fighting someone who's basically his size.
27:07I can't remember the last time Pacquiao fought somebody.
27:10He's actually taller than him.
27:11Yeah.
27:12A little shorter than him.
27:12Maybe Barrera?
27:13Maybe Marco Antonio Barrera?
27:14Those guys, I think, were even still taller.
27:16At least as tall, not shorter.
27:21Morales is his size.
27:23I mean, Marquez, excuse me, is his size.
27:24Yeah, Eric Morales was his size.
27:26That was a long time ago.
27:27Eric Morales is taller, though.
27:29Yeah, that's true.
27:29You want to look at the weight, look at the calves, right?
27:35They were mentioning before.
27:36It's like Prince Nassim Ahmed.
27:37All the sizes in the calves.
27:38All the sizes.
27:39The punching power can come from there.
27:40Well, that's why he's got to stretch those guys out.
27:42It's going to take a second.
27:43A lot of excitement in this fight.
27:52Difficult to keep that intensity up through every single round.
27:56And they have it here in round eight.
27:59It's not a round off, but they just went from, I don't know, seventh to sixth gear.
28:03I'm not even talking five and four anymore.
28:05This is at a higher level.
28:06Hey, Pacquiao usually likes to close out rounds strong, so let's see.
28:09And Bradley trying to move his head, tries to answer as well.
28:15Let's take a look at what appears to be an unintentional head, but yeah.
28:19No, no, he brought his head right into him.
28:20That's on Bradley.
28:22You know, Bradley is hurt.
28:22That's on him.
28:23Yeah, here's another look.
28:24And Bradley has a history of doing that.
28:26And by all means, I don't, yeah, ooh.
28:29And I'm so glad there's not a cut out of that.
28:30Yeah.
28:31Not a dirty fighter, just a sort of an ugly style with that head.
28:35Look, Evander Holyfield was trying, and he was a clean fighter, the ultimate warrior.
28:39But he would come in, and his head was there.
28:41And his basic feeling was, if my head's there and our head's me, you know, I'm sorry, but too bad.
28:47And that's the way it was.
28:48That's the way it was when he fought Mike Tyson.
28:49Tyson said he got rattled in the first fight.
28:51Right.
28:51Getting head-butted, and he was never the same.
28:53And that's why he got dirty.
28:54Doesn't excuse what he did.
28:56Right.
28:56But that just shows you a lot of fighters do have trouble with guys who come in with their heads.
28:59By the way, both of these guys have large heads.
29:02Yes, they do.
29:02They do.
29:02That's a really good thing to point out.
29:04They have helmets for heads.
29:05I don't have scientific data to back that up.
29:07However, just looking at them, Mario, they have large heads.
29:10And I think they'll tell you.
29:11They'll tell you.
29:16Round nine, as things start to slow up a little bit.
29:19And again, I would say that would favor Manny and Pacquiao.
29:22Did you agree with that, Mario?
29:23I do agree with that.
29:23And he just landed a pretty strong left hand.
29:27And Pacquiao seemed to slow down a little in his work rate.
29:29There's no way you could keep that pace.
29:31Right from the get-go, both guys came out, firing and throwing combinations.
29:36Murderous combinations.
29:38Bradley loses his balance there.
29:40You better regain it quickly because Pacquiao did not waste any time pouncing.
29:44Pacquiao has such amazing balance and quick feet.
29:47You're right.
29:48You rarely see him out of balance, out of sorts.
29:50You see quick hands often.
29:52But it's rare when you see a combination of quick hands and quick feet.
29:55Bradley, you could tell, went to the ropes and thought,
29:57I'm okay, I'm far away from him.
29:58And then within a millisecond, oh, he's not far away anymore.
30:02He's like Velcro.
30:03Right, most guys you fight will not close you.
30:05He's got great closing speed.
30:06Oh, beautiful combination.
30:07Oh, and a beautiful uppercut.
30:08That was a dazzling combination by Manny Pacquiao.
30:11And now they start to trade.
30:12A lot of time left in this round.
30:15Plenty of time to get it on.
30:17Beautiful work by Pacquiao.
30:19Oh, and the ref breaking it up right when it gets interesting.
30:22Oh, and another beautiful uppercut.
30:25Another uppercut.
30:27Beautiful left hand by Pacquiao.
30:28Bradley is wading right into the fire.
30:30This could be very dangerous.
30:33He's taking chances.
30:34He's going for it.
30:36Robert Byrd wanted them both to not have the clash of heads that we are concerned about.
30:41Straping hook from Bradley as they exchange.
30:45Good body shot.
30:47And another by Bradley.
30:48He's just scoring blows.
30:50Look, you might go in thinking, hey, Pacquiao should be winning this fight.
30:53Bradley doesn't have the same work rate.
30:55But I'm not sure if you're actually scoring this fight who has the lead in this round.
31:01That's a scoring shot.
31:03Bradley's been answering really well in this round.
31:06Pacquiao's not had some hard shots, but he's been retaliating.
31:10Bradley does not have the same snap on his punches.
31:13That went straight up the middle by Pacquiao.
31:15And a body shot he follows up.
31:17Maybe Pacquiao does wait, as you said.
31:19He likes to close out.
31:20Maybe he waits for those final 30 seconds.
31:22Good digging body shot by Bradley.
31:22That was a beautiful body shot.
31:24Bradley's scoring here.
31:25Again, don't look at body liners.
31:30Look at the body shots.
31:32And that was a nice left hand by Pacquiao.
31:34And that right hit just missed.
31:39Bradley seems to be sucking a little wind here.
31:41And he's standing a little close to Pacquiao.
31:43Now he moves in.
31:44You cannot just stand up in front of any Pacquiao.
31:46No.
31:47Cannot do it.
31:47If you think you're going to overwhelm him with punches, you've got something else coming.
31:50I tell you what, that was quietly.
31:55Lots of exchanges right here.
31:56Big uppercut from Pacquiao landing right there.
31:59Another uppercut, I believe, is coming.
32:01Another left hand.
32:03Started off with a big eye.
32:04Bradley has taken those punches really well.
32:06You know, I would say round by round, Pacquiao, if I'm trying to characterize it here, Mario,
32:12he has sexier work in there, right?
32:14It's more exciting.
32:15But when Bradley is there, throwing a shot.
32:17That's what I'm trying to point it out.
32:18I'm not pro-Bradley.
32:19I'm not pro-I'm pro both guys.
32:21But I'm trying to point out, that's a scoring shot.
32:23That's a scoring shot.
32:24Bradley is still scoring in this round.
32:26He looks tired.
32:27He looks like one shot could drop him.
32:29But it hasn't happened yet.
32:31And this will be interesting when it goes to the cards.
32:33If it goes to the cards.
32:35Championship rounds.
32:36Round 10 now.
32:37Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley.
32:40What did we hear in the corner that time, Mario?
32:41What did you think?
32:42He was asking.
32:43He's still a little pleading with it.
32:45There wasn't as much of a sense of frustration in the corner.
32:47He actually worked really well and was pleased with his work.
32:49He wants him to do a little bit more of the same.
32:51And continue to go to the bottom, which he just did.
32:53Cutting shots.
32:54That's a three-punch combination.
32:56Two of them landed by Bradley.
32:57Another shot lands.
32:58Bradley landing with the hooks.
33:00Bradley, a lot of respect I'm giving him.
33:02Hanging in there tough.
33:03He looked like he was on the downward spiral.
33:06But coming back.
33:07He looks terrific.
33:07This is a gutty performance.
33:09Gutty performance, yeah.
33:10He's in top, top shape.
33:12And yet, going those rounds at that level of intensity against...
33:16Right.
33:16A legendary, energetic fighter has taken its toll.
33:20It's slowed him down.
33:21Countering right hand by Bradley as he moves away.
33:39Bradley's face still looks clean.
33:40It does look very clean.
33:41He's gotten a lot of clean shots, too.
33:43He's got a fighter-friendly face, meaning his features...
33:47He doesn't have the Eric Morales nose, if you will.
33:50He's got a nice, big head.
33:51You know what?
33:52He's been doing the beatdowns.
33:53He hasn't been absorbing them all through his career.
33:56And it's a long and decorated career that he's had as an amateur.
34:01And as a pro.
34:01Wow, big right hand.
34:02Just slapped it on the side of the head.
34:04Pacquiao as if to say, yeah, that was good.
34:06I'll give you that.
34:07Acknowledging.
34:09Straight up the middle comes Bradley.
34:11I have to say, Bradley is throwing so many scoring shots.
34:14You're scoring this fight.
34:15I'll go back to it.
34:15He's winning this round.
34:16Yeah, this round, two minutes in, and it's a Bradley round so far.
34:21Just good, solid boxing work.
34:23Right?
34:23Throwing double jams up the middle.
34:25Throwing winging hard shots.
34:27He keeps moving away from Pacquiao in his power left hand.
34:30This is world-class fighting right here.
34:31These two guys, world-class athletes.
34:34One's in his prime, and one we are about to find out if he still is in his prime.
34:37And, you know, maybe a little's been gone.
34:42A couple miles of left of the curveball.
34:44The fastball, I should say.
34:45But it's still enough to take on the best in the world.
34:48We just saw Floyd Mayweather fight Miguel Cotto and fight straight in front of him.
34:53Suddenly, he's not on his toes dancing anymore.
34:55That happens when you reach your mid-30s.
34:56And the irony, it makes for much more entertaining fights.
34:58Yep.
34:58When you slow down, suddenly it gets exciting.
35:02Final 15 seconds here of round 10.
35:04Take a look sometime if you want.
35:05I know, Mario, you will.
35:07At De La Hoya Mosley 1, De La Hoya Mosley 2.
35:10The dancing went away for round 2.
35:11Fast hands.
35:12The hands are just as fast in the second fight.
35:14But the feet were both gone for the second fight as opposed to the first time they met.
35:18Here, they've slowed down, and it brings good action.
35:21Freddie Roach admitting that he gave that round away.
35:25He let that round go.
35:25Yeah, he wasn't active in that round enough for him to win that round.
35:29And the basic tenor of the conversation in the corner after round 10 for Timothy Bradley was,
35:35time to be a warrior.
35:37You have six minutes left to achieve your lifetime goal and win a mega fight.
35:42Not just look great and win respect.
35:45He's done that already.
35:46But to actually win a mega fight against a great fighter, and that was a good shot.
35:50And Brian, in this close fight, the fate could very well be in these last six minutes.
35:55Yep.
35:57Look, I could be out of my mind, Mario, and maybe I'm talking myself into it,
36:00but I could easily give the last two rounds to Bradley.
36:02The tenth, definitely, maybe even the ninth.
36:05It's not far-fetched at all.
36:07Keep the round up, James.
36:09Keep it up right there.
36:10Keep it up right there.
36:11Ready to count, right there you go.
36:12consistent work by Timothy Bradley, and has kept the explosive champion and number one fighter in the sport at bay.
36:22Just good, solid work, which is exactly what we expected.
36:26This is a man strong physically, strong mentally.
36:30I'll go back to my good friend Teddy Atlas, who often talks about a fighter who goes in and crumbles.
36:36And he says later, they were fractured.
36:38There's no fracture.
36:40There's no any type of dent in Timothy Bradley.
36:42There was never a question in my mind that I think he would wilt under any sort of psychological pressure or dealing with any sort of adversity.
36:49He's a tough guy, raised by a tough man.
36:52He had some tough circumstances going up.
36:54You know, and he dealt with the tornado that is Pacquiao early on.
36:58And he seems to have made a nice adjustment in counter-punching and letting his jabs go a little bit more and worked himself back in this fight.
37:05You're absolutely right.
37:06Because mid-rounds, it looked as though the momentum had indeed shifted and it was about to become Pacquiao time.
37:13That has not happened.
37:14Not the way we see it.
37:15We could be wrong.
37:16Well, you can tell by the crowd, who is really pro-Pacquiao here, hasn't been as vocal as they've been in the middle rounds.
37:22That's an excellent point.
37:23They've been lulled to sleep by a man just with a good sharp jab and a lifetime of work and dedication.
37:30We could be seeing a tremendous upset.
37:39Bradley moving away.
37:49And those hooks clearly missing.
37:50Very important.
37:51The most thing I'm impressed by tonight is Bradley's defense.
37:54I didn't realize he had that sort of elusive defense for Manny Pacquiao.
38:00The Bobby and Weavey.
38:01He's a cagey guy.
38:02He has only been hit with a few things on the side of his head that has wobbled him.
38:06He has never been pummeled.
38:07He has never accepted punishment to the corner as he spins out right now.
38:10Look at the footwork by Bradley.
38:12Blood coming from Pacquiao's nose or mouth.
38:14Juan, I saw some stream of blood coming.
38:16We're in the final seconds here of the 11th round.
38:22This fight has flown by.
38:25One round to go in Las Vegas.
38:30Final round.
38:32And it's been terrific.
38:33Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley.
38:35These have been very difficult rounds to score.
38:38All I know is that Timothy Bradley has made a great account of himself, and he's extremely competitive here.
38:44Could he be on the verge of an upset?
38:46It's possible.
38:47Could we just be on the verge of another great Pacquiao effort, and he gets the win?
38:52That's possible as well.
38:53What we know for sure is Bradley can hold his head up high.
38:58He fought with a lot of courage, showed a lot of heart, and people are going to respect this performance.
39:02He came here to win.
39:04And look, win or lose, he's in the mix.
39:06And the mix includes Pacquiao rematch that he was trumpeting.
39:09Of course, he would figure that he would have won to have to get that.
39:12Or possibly Mayweather.
39:14Mayweather in jail right now, but he gets out in three months.
39:16Who knows?
39:18But he's in the mix for big fights, there's no question.
39:21This fight is definitely in question.
39:26You wonder if Pacquiao is going to try to close the show, if he'll try to do something superhuman.
39:30I was just going to lead to that.
39:33Pacquiao would be nice if he picked up a little of the activity, tried to finish strong, not to leave any doubts.
39:42I think they just used most of their ammo in the first six rounds, Mario.
39:45I think that they exhausted each other.
39:48Good work by Bradley inside.
39:52And more from Bradley.
39:54Bradley caught him with a good hard shot, then.
39:55They told Timothy Bradley in his corner, this is the most important round of the fight.
40:00Important round of his life.
40:07Look, I'm not someone who believes that you need to knock out the champ to take his title.
40:12I think you win it on rounds, if you win, you win.
40:15I agree, 100%.
40:16If you cross that finish line, once you cross the race, whether it's by an inch or by a mile, a win's a win.
40:22Final minute of the fight.
40:23Let's see if either fighter can put the accelerator down to the floor.
40:27They jump into each other there, awkwardly.
40:39Boy, the crowd, you can hear the buzz.
40:40They're waiting for something big, and Bradley with a good answer.
40:44It was Bradley who was catching Pacquiao.
40:46Bradley really got reinvigorated this second half of this, or I should say the last 20% of the fight, last couple rounds.
40:52He's been fighting very smart the last three rounds.
40:54It's like he caught a second win.
40:55Yeah, now he's jumping.
40:56He's given it everything he has.
40:57He's worked his whole life for this moment to fight the best fighter in the world.
41:0130 seconds left.
41:02He's been right there every single round.
41:05No matter how it's judged, he's done something to Ripick here tonight.
41:11The crowd going for Manny Pacquiao.
41:13The chance going up.
41:15Final seconds.
41:15Pacquiao jumps in with a straight left, tries to go with a lead left hand.
41:30You know what?
41:31I'd like to see three more rounds.
41:32That was a great fight.
41:33I really would.
41:34That was a terrific fight.
41:35Go back to prior action.
41:36Big shot landed there by Pacquiao.
41:42Pacquiao was effective.
41:43Look, the only man that was actually hurt tonight in this fight was Bradley.
41:47As Mario Lopez pointed out.
41:49You see Mark Wahlberg, the film star, with an aghast look on his face at the action and thrilled to see what he was seeing.
41:57Mario Lopez mentioned, who would you rather be at the end of that round?
42:00A lot of those rounds, you would rather have been Manny Pacquiao.
42:04Jerry Ross scores the bout.
42:05115-113 for Pacquiao.
42:08C.J. Ross scores it.
42:12115-113 for Bradley.
42:17And Dwayne Ford scores it.
42:19115-113 to the winner by split decision.
42:24And new WBO Welderweight Champion of the World, the Desert Storm, Timothy Bradley!
42:38He did it.
42:44He absolutely did it.
42:45And don't be shocked.
42:477-5 was the score on all three judges' cards.
42:51I can't argue with any one of the three cards.
42:53They had it 7-5.
42:55Two of them, Dwayne Ford and C.J. Ross had it 7-5.
42:58Timothy Bradley.
42:59And there were rounds there that Manny Pacquiao took off.
43:04We go back and look.
43:05And this was an extreme work rate in the first two rounds.
43:08Look at the speed and look at the acceleration of the punches from both fighters in the opening rounds.
43:15Bradley flew it offensively.
43:17But then, in the middle rounds, Manny Pacquiao started to march back, throwing hard shots.
43:24Even when he didn't land at optimum distance and land with full leverage,
43:30anything he threw had the possibility of wobbling Timothy Bradley.
43:34But then Bradley came back.
43:35And in the late rounds...
43:37I'm with the new champion of the world, Timothy Bradley.
43:39Timothy, I've got to imagine that's music to your ears.
43:42You said you were going to come out here and do it, and all the hard work seemed to pay off.
43:47And if it was a story, is it safe to say that in the early rounds, you came out strong?
43:52Maybe in the middle rounds, Manny seemed to get into a groove,
43:55but then you made the adjustments to make a strong push at the end.
43:59What was it that factored in to make you have that final push?
44:03You know, it was just my corner.
44:04I caught my second ring about in the sixth round.
44:06You know, I just move in, move in on angles.
44:09Just allow Manny to come to me and try to make mistakes
44:11and just use my jab and just kept sticking and moving, sticking and moving,
44:15and just catch me with cleaning shots.
44:16Were you hurt at any point in this fight?
44:19Oh, yeah.
44:19Manny's a beast.
44:20He has fast hands.
44:21That left hand is very, very fast and hard.
44:25He hurt me a couple times in a fight, but I held up.
44:27You know, I had strong legs, and, you know, my will to win, man, just came over.
44:31At the end of the fight, were you confident that you were the victor walking away?
44:35Well, my corner felt like we were winning the fight.
44:37They told me I had to go out and fight hard, win the last round, and I was going to win the fight.
44:40You can hear my trainer.
44:41You can go back and review the tape.
44:43You said that win this round, we win the fight.
44:45Well, it was a gutty performance.
44:46You came off great on the 24-7, your class act both in and out of the ring with the team.
44:50You've been mentioning November as a possible rematch.
44:53Is that what you would like to see happen?
44:55Oh, absolutely.
44:56I've got to give Manny a rematch.
44:57The fans are not satisfied with this victory.
45:00Absolutely.
45:01You know, I've got to definitely give him a shot to earn his title back from me.
45:04And, you know, this is boxing.
45:05It's the way it is, but, you know, we're going to do it again.
45:08Excellent performance tonight.
45:08Congratulations, champ.
45:10Manny, it seemed that, what, can you explain in the beginning, were you not warmed up properly
45:17or were you waiting for the basketball game to finish?
45:19There was a lot of rumors floating around as far as what happened to get you prepared.
45:23Were you as prepared as you wanted to be entering the ring?
45:25No, I was very warm up before I go up to the ring.
45:31And I thought the fight, the fight, it's good.
45:33I mean, he's not his opponent.
45:35And he's very strong.
45:37And he moves around.
45:39And he's undefeated.
45:41You know, I mean, I respect that, but I believe that I won the fight.
45:46Manny, you appeared to land the majority of the cleaner, harder punches.
45:51He admits that you hurt him a couple times.
45:54Did you get tired at all towards the end?
45:57Or was he just so elusive that he refused to sort of engage to want to fight with you,
46:02therefore made it harder for you to want to fight?
46:05No, I thought, I've been watching his whole fight and he's a lot of fights.
46:09And then he's a crazy fighter.
46:12And now he's just running, running and keep back off, back off.
46:17And, you know, I thought he's going to fight totally with me.
46:21Did he hurt you at all during this fight?
46:22No, no, no.
46:23You didn't seem to take any steps backwards.
46:25As you can see, the crowd was not agreeing with that decision.
46:28It was not a popular decision.
46:30Exactly, exactly.
46:30Most of his punches hit my arms.
46:33And I don't know what happened.
46:36You blocked the majority of those punches.
46:38You were hurt him.
46:39And yet the decision didn't seem to go your way.
46:42Will you be up for the rematch to vindicate this performance in November?
46:48No problem, no problem.
46:50I'm willing to rematch.
46:51And, you know, that decision is already done.
46:54And I give the credit for him.
46:56Would there be anything on the heels of this performance that you would do different from
46:59the next time out?
47:00Well, I know what I'm doing the next time.
47:03And it's, you know, I'm not going to think that.
47:09I will think a good fight again.
47:12Congratulations, champ, on a wonderful performance.
47:14You were awesome tonight.
47:17Back to you.
47:18Mario, you're absolutely right.
47:19Look, he was marvelous, even in defeat.
47:22And if you look at the scoring, because there seems to be a wide discrepancy in a lot of
47:25the scores.
