00:00Leeds United have certainly had a busy transfer window as they look to adapt to life in the Premier League.
00:07But is their business finished yet for the summer?
00:11With the deadline fast approaching, myself and Lee Soba discussed what more business Leeds could do
00:17before the window slams shut on the 1st of September.
00:22Leeds still looking for more than just Calvert-Lewin to come in at the moment.
00:27There's been rumours about El Canoose at Leicester, if I'm right, amongst others.
00:32So I think the question is, Lee, who and what do Leeds need before the window slams shut in a couple of weeks' time?
00:40Well, I think to say simply, I'd say a winger and a striker.
00:43That's the way I'd look at it, to be honest.
00:45I mean, if you can get two wingers in, great.
00:46But I don't think anybody thinks they're going to get two wingers in and another striker,
00:50obviously on top of Calvert-Lewin, this is what I'm talking.
00:52But, you know, I think I've said all summer, really, the thing that would worry me a little bit
00:57with this Leeds team on the Premier League return is goals and creativity in the final third.
01:02I always thought it'd be quite solid.
01:04And I think that even more so now when you look at some of the team, the building,
01:08people like Anton Stack coming in, he looks a very, very good sign-in.
01:11And Jakubi all at the back and stuff.
01:13And, you know, as I say, apart from like when you're playing your massive big guns,
01:17like your Liverpools and your Arsenals and stuff, you never know in games like that.
01:20I think they'll be quite hard to beat.
01:22But it's just the final third that I worry about a little bit and stuff.
01:25And it'll be fascinating to see what happens on the striker situation.
01:27Obviously, Calvert-Lewin coming in, you know, I think some people might feel,
01:31well, is that it?
01:32But I don't think Leeds will be looking at it and thinking that that's enough.
01:35I think they'll go for another one.
01:36And I think getting a striker in that you know is going to come in and get your goals,
01:42you know, I think that's like pretty essential, really.
01:44But that said, that's going to cost money.
01:46You know, obviously, even Rodrigo Meniz, I mean, there'd have been a few question marks
01:49even about him to a degree, you know.
01:50But, I mean, even he would have been massive bucks, massive money.
01:53You know, obviously, you never know with him.
01:54It might still happen, something like that.
01:56It looks like he's going elsewhere.
01:57But out wide is the other thing as well.
01:59I just think like, especially if you're going to be like a physical team
02:02and obviously try and offer a big threat at set pieces and crosses and stuff like that,
02:05then I think obviously getting another star winger in is absolutely massive.
02:09And I harp on about it all the time, about how, you know,
02:11Leeds went and got Rafinha last time.
02:13And, you know, no one's expecting him to go and get another Rafinha.
02:16I mean, you'd be doing well if you did.
02:18But, you know, like someone exciting like that.
02:20And obviously, you've got Pashao was the one they looked at.
02:22And I think if they'd have got someone like Pashao in,
02:25I think people would have looked at it differently and thought,
02:27yeah, you know, we've got a star there who can be a right threat as well out wide and stuff.
02:30So, I mean, there's talks of other people like, you know,
02:32I've noticed that the Greek striker at the moment,
02:35Noah Roquefort is another name that's come up today.
02:37You know, AC Milan, obviously, Swiss international.
02:40And names will continue to be brought up.
02:41But I just think, I think they've definitely got to do that.
02:43Well, I don't think they're oblivious to it.
02:45You know, it's not like they're not, it's not like they don't know that.
02:47And Daniel Farker, fair play to him, has already said a few times this summer,
02:50the bottom line is you can't say that we've got stronger as an attacking unit from the championship.
02:56In other words, basically, they've probably got weaker, really.
02:59And they have.
02:59And that's the reality because I've lost Manor Solomon, you know.
03:02So, that's the thing.
03:03And Daniel Farker knows it.
03:05He's a good manager.
03:06He knows what he's doing.
03:07He's always said he'd be very, very keen if and when Leeds go up to avoid what happened at Norwich,
03:12you know, and like not going up with the right tools and stuff.
03:14And he doesn't want that to happen again.
03:15He'll also know that when the window closes at the start of September, that's it.
03:19And if Leeds haven't got anybody else in the final third at the moment,
03:23then I think everybody probably, even him, would be a bit worried about that.
03:26But I think they'll get other people in.
03:28But I think they need to.
03:29And it might go right onto the wire.
03:30And as we all know, sometimes, although it's not ideal, sometimes the best deals can happen
03:35right at the end of the window when players come up that you don't expect to at the moment
03:38because obviously it's like a sort of, you know, moving parts and stuff.
03:41But to summarise it, I just think a winger and a star winger, an exciting winger,
03:47you know, a sort of like, sort of statement signing, if you like,
03:51an expensive one who everybody knows is going to be good to get the blood pumping out wide.
03:55I think that's a must.
03:56And I still think another striker, you know, because of the question marks about the ones
04:00that we've got at the moment.
04:01If one of those players can play as a number 10 as well, then great,
04:03because that's a never-ending question mark at Leeds, obviously, ever since the Pablo Hernandez days.
04:08That said, it looks like Farka's going more of three in the middle at the moment.
04:11But yeah, I just, I mean, I've said it a few times in these,
04:14I think that what they do in the window will make the difference between staying up or not.
04:18And that's still how I feel.
04:19I still feel that, you know, they probably need to get a couple more attackers in
04:23if they're going to stay up.
04:24But I suspect they will do, but it might go right down to the wire.
04:27So as ever, it won't be dull.
04:29No, never is with Leeds United, never is.
04:33And I think, would supporters probably change that?
04:36Well, I suppose if they wanted a club that was consistently winning, yes.
04:39But I think a lot of people actually enjoy the adventure they get with Leeds at the same time as well.
