00:00It's November 28th in Yakutia and the temperature is already minus 40 degrees.

00:07Vasily is waking up in the early morning when it's dark and cold and slowly getting ready for his day.

00:16Just like everyone else, first thing in the morning he has to take care of his daily necessities.

00:22He has to put on many layers of clothes to prepare himself to go to the toilet.

00:30In the small village there are no toilet facilities because the pipes freeze easily.

00:42Just make sure to go to the toilet at the last minute to make sure to get your business done fast.

00:49Next up, a very important part of his daily routine is to chop the wood to heat his house.

01:00In his traditional Russian stove.

01:14After heating his home, he tidies up his garden and sweeps away in the snow.

01:18There is no running tub water. He will get the drinking water from blocks of ice which was cut from rivers on a daily basis.

02:25His wife is preparing delicious traditional Yakutian fried pancakes.

02:46Now it's time to take their kids to the school and they have to make sure to dress them well with lots of layers of clothes.

03:06He prepared hay during the summer so he can feed his cows during the long and cold winters.

03:12And now he is leading the cows to the nearest lake to drink.

03:40It's time to take the cows home.

03:42The winter is quite cold for them, so they will stay inside.
