00:09Judge Frank Caprio, aka America's nicest judge,
00:12passed away on 20th August 2025 at the age of 88.
00:16He was a municipal judge in Providence, Rhode Island,
00:18and was also the host of Court in Providence, a reality TV show.
00:21Caprio was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago,
00:24something he made public on Facebook at the time.
00:26Despite several challenges, he underwent six months of chemotherapy
00:29and five cycles of radiation therapy.
00:31His treatment closed in May 2024.
00:33However, hours before his death, Caprio revealed in a video message
00:36that he had faced a setback and was back in the hospital.
00:39He also asked his followers to remember me in your prayers once more.
00:43Unfortunately, I've had a setback.
00:45I'm back in the hospital.
00:47Caprio was known for his empathetic approach towards defaulters in his court
00:50with minor infractions.
00:52He often dismissed minor cases with grace,
00:54like when he dismissed a red light violation for a bartender
00:56who was making $3.84 per hour,
00:58or when he dismissed a woman's tickets worth $400 whose son was killed.
01:02Other similar acts of kindness earned him the moniker America's nicest judge.
