00:00There's no one in the kitchen at this German hospital's canteen, but the food is still getting
00:04made. That's because the Tübingen University Hospital Canteen has installed a robotic kitchen.
00:10It's made by the company Good Bites. Co-founder Kevin Deutmark says the robot can prepare 120
00:15different meals, including meatballs, spetzel, ramen, and pasta. The robot has been in use since
00:21May and does require human assistance to stock it with ingredients. Hospital commercial director
00:26Daniela Harsh says its function is, quote, not about replacing employees, but that it is difficult
00:31to find qualified workers, especially for hospitals' odd hours. According to Reuters, the German
00:36unemployment rate is currently around 6% and has been rising in recent months. Canteen guest Regina
00:41Schomburger praised the robotic kitchen's pasta, but said, quote, today it was a bit too much of the
00:46chickpeas.
