So I'm here at Arkelwood on GCSE results day with Davida, Rizandi and our head
00:08
teacher. Girls first of all, how have you got on with your results and have you got
00:15
what you need to move on to the next stage? Yeah, I did all right. How did you get on then Davida?
00:21
I got on pretty well. I got 6's, 7's, 8's and 9's and I'm really proud of my
00:26
results. I'm really happy. Brilliant. And what are you going on to do next? Psychology,
00:31
art and business. Brilliant. How did it feel then to come along to school today and pick up the
00:38
envelope? Well, I'm ecstatic now but the nerves were definitely hitting, especially the night
00:44
before when I had to actually realise that, oh my gosh, I'm picking up my results today. But I feel
00:48
ecstatic. I'm really happy. Brilliant. And Rizandi, how did you get on? I think I did well. I think I got
00:55
nine, eight, seven, done like one, six. I think it went very well. Good stuff. And so you're going
01:03
off to do your A-levels on you? Yeah, I'm going to do English literature, sociology and economics.
01:09
Brilliant stuff. And have you got any plans to celebrate today?
01:13
Honestly, no. I'm just going to go home and sleep.
01:15
Yeah, I'm well-deserved sleeping with no stress for the first time.
01:19
Well, it sounds like it's well-earned. And headteacher, talk to me. How proud are you of the
01:26
girls and all your students here? Yeah, we're incredibly proud. It's been another tremendous
01:32
year. And, you know, I just said to one of my colleagues inside, these are the moments
01:36
to savour, you know, to see the cheers and the elation and the big smiles on their faces.
01:41
This is why we do it as staff in education. And, you know, Davide and Missandei, the girls
01:46
here, should be incredibly proud of themselves. It's a testament to all their hard work and
01:50
effort. You know, I think they've been very humble. I think they've been very modest.
01:54
The girls have done incredibly well. And that just doesn't happen. That happens because
01:58
of their dedication and their effort. And it doesn't just happen over a short period
02:02
of time. It's that sustained effort. And for us, we're incredibly proud of the girls.
02:06
We're incredibly proud of all the children at Arkerwood Academy. It's been a fantastic year.
02:11
It's always nice as well, isn't it, to sort of bring the chapter to an end that, you know,
02:16
several years together and, you know, going through all the trouble and strife of education
02:22
and then having that special moment to celebrate and, you know, a nice way to say goodbye to
02:27
that. 100%. And I think, you know, what you've referenced there is, yes, year 11 is a vitally
02:33
important year, but it's a five-year journey. And to see these, you know, to see the students
02:38
grow and to flourish and to develop as these, these wonderful young adults. For us, what
02:43
we say is, is it's really important that they go on and get positive post-16 destinations.
02:48
So yes, their time at Arkerwood has, has come to an end. But for us now, it's about them
02:52
going on and being really successful and having those doors open. And, you know, we're always
02:56
bonded now. You know, these are children of Arkerwood. They're part of our community.
03:00
They're part of our family. And we're so proud to go and see them achieve all they've, all
03:05
the potential that they have. So yeah, no, it's a, it's a lovely way to, to bring the
03:08
chapter to a close.
03:09
I'm here with twins, Sam and Jack Turner, who look pretty pleased with their results
03:17
today. How have you got on, boys?
03:18
I'm very pleased. I'm very pleased. I'm very pleased.
03:21
Brilliant stuff. So, what are you going on to do next? Where are you off to?
03:25
Well, I'm going to college. I want to be a musician. I want to be in that field of stuff.
03:31
Have you got a particular genre of music that you're into now?
03:35
Just rock. Just rock. It made me just rock.
03:38
You're a rocker. I probably should have guessed with my hair, shouldn't I?
03:41
And what about you, Jack?
03:43
I'm going to college to do a creative media course. I want to become a film director.
03:47
I want to make movies, you know, thrillers.
03:50
Brilliant stuff. And how did it feel to receive the results today amongst, well, with your twin
03:59
brother? And amongst all your friends and family?
04:01
I'm relieved. I'm very relieved. I passed everything. I'm so happy. I'm so happy I passed everything.
04:06
Well, congratulations, lads. How are you going to celebrate?
04:09
Play Xbox.
04:11
I know. Just be happy.
04:15
Brilliant stuff. Well done, boys.
04:17
Thanks.
04:18
Cheers.
04:19
Holly, how have you got on today? Is it good news?
04:25
Yeah.
04:26
What have you managed to bag all your results and is it enough to go on to the next stage
04:31
of what you want to do?
04:33
Yeah, I've got the past and everything I needed.
04:36
Sorry?
04:37
I've got the past and everything I needed.
04:39
Brilliant. And what's next then for you?
04:42
Childcare and violence.
04:44
Brilliant stuff. And Alison, how do you feel today hearing Holly's results and hearing what she's going to be able to next?
04:54
How are you going to celebrate Holly?
05:03
Erm, packing my holiday off a bit.
05:06
Oh, nice. Where are you off to?
05:07
I love this.
05:09
Well, it sounds like it's well earned. So, er, congratulations.
05:15
So, we're here with Phoebe. Hello, Phoebes. You okay?
05:18
Yeah, I'm fine, thanks.
05:19
So, there's smiles. I'm presuming you've got what you wanted, yeah?
05:23
I've definitely got what I wanted, yeah.
05:24
So, what is it you want to go on and do once you leave here?
05:27
So, I'm going to go to TCAT and do BTEC Creative Media.
05:30
Ah.
05:31
So, most of it involves, like, erm, like, the TV, photography.
05:36
Yeah, yeah.
05:37
Most of that stuff and I just really enjoy those.
05:40
Yeah, yeah.
05:41
And I got the things I wanted to pass most of the subjects that I liked.
05:43
So, you needed four passes, didn't you?
05:45
I needed four passes.
05:46
Yeah, yeah.
05:47
So, have you, you've kind of, have you done, were you, have you got the results you were
05:51
expecting or, you know, were you confident going into today?
05:55
I wasn't confident but, you know, I got, I was actually really surprised at my results.
05:59
Yeah, yeah.
06:00
Erm, a little bit disappointed of some but, you know, they do really matter.
06:03
Yeah, you've got what you need.
06:04
I got what I needed.
06:05
Yeah, yeah.
06:06
Awesome.
06:07
Well, well done and we wish you all the success in your future career.
