Transcript
00:00We're here in Shrewsbury at C21 and we're here with Lee. Hello Lee.
00:04How are you doing?
00:05Cool, and Andy.
00:06Are you okay?
00:07Cool, yeah good thank you. So tell us about C21. It's a work in progress at the minute
00:13but it's soon to have its doors open to the public, yeah?
00:16That's it. We've got two more days.
00:19Seven o'clock Friday we are going to open for public.
00:22Now you're no stranger to C21 are you? Have you been here before?
00:27I have, yes. A little bird told me it's a popular reunion to bring Lee back to C21.
00:36So what is C21 all about then? If people haven't been here before there's quite a few different
00:41elements to it isn't it? It's almost like different zones within you know.
00:45Tell us, talk us about C21 and what it is.
00:48We've basically got three different areas which is basically what it used to have.
00:54So if you go back about 10 years we're trying to take C21 back to its heyday where it actually was.
01:01Which is why we've maintained the brand.
01:04We've got the main C21 bar and next phase is going to be a live music venue.
01:12Yeah through that lion's mouth that'll be a live yeah.
01:14That's it. That's phase two. And then we've obviously got the other club area as well.
01:22So that's kind of like a VIP section almost when you go through the doors there.
01:26Yeah almost. We've sort of got two different
01:29music genres on the go at one time.
01:33So what sort of music then?
01:35Well we'd like to attract some of the older generation back out because you don't feel
01:39there's anywhere in town for for them to go at the moment.
01:43Yeah.
01:43So we're definitely sort of 80s, 90s and noughties in one of the rooms.
01:48Whereas we might be something a bit more modern.
01:51Maybe some house music in the other.
01:53But I feel that we're playing two totally different genres of music.
01:58We can sort of pull everyone in really.
02:01And what's happening? We've got the peach tree restaurant space at the front.
02:05What's happening there? Is that going to be opening as a restaurant again?
02:07It is yeah. We was planning to open 30th August end of this month.
02:13The Momo used to be that's gone and we're going to bring the Turkish restaurant as well.
02:19Yeah. So yeah I've learned something new.
02:22So that's kind of like the Man Atlas like barbecue.
02:24I've got like a barbecue.
02:25Yeah. Yeah. Great. So yeah.
02:27That's the one.
02:28Sounds good. My lips, my mouth's watering.
02:33So Andy we're in a space here. This was at one point a noodle bar.
02:37Yeah.
02:38But this is where Lee's going to be bringing back his Turkish kind of barbecuey grill area up here.
02:43That's it. Correct.
02:44So he's basically opening the peach tree back as the peach tree used to be.
02:49Yeah.
02:49I'm keeping the name. But what was the noodle bar is going to be Turkish barbecue.
02:56Awesome. I mean it's obviously we join you at the point of it being a building site.
03:02But great features in there. I mean all these beams and that.
03:06You know you can't kind of buy those can you. You know what I mean.
03:14That is cool.
03:18And then you've got a lovely little section here in the middle.
03:21Your little terrace area we call it.
03:23And then the hopes for the future. Not quite set in place. There's a few boxes to take paperwork.
03:30But you're hoping to bring like a bit of a shisha lounge area as well.
03:32That's right sir. Yes. That's our plan to bring the shisha lounge and then see how it's going sir.
03:38So what's your backgrounds then. So Lee what's what's your background. Is it all is it bars and clubs. Is that your world.
03:44No. To be honest little coffees restaurants. Oh okay. Yeah. In the town here in Shrewsbury.
03:50In town centre. I own Peaberry coffee. Yeah. And the Daily Brew. Okay yeah.
03:56And I've got food bits as well like takeaways. Yeah yeah. And Andy what about yourself.
04:02So I basically run an electrical contracting company. Yeah. And she's been selling electrical.
04:11But myself and Lee have known each other for over 20 years now. Yeah. And I've worked together on
04:17quite a lot of these premises. Obviously this one's very big. So he's asked if I'll come on board and
04:24help him sort of manage and run it. Well I mean I know it's all systems go at the minute but you can
04:31you can get a flavour of what it's going to be you know. I mean just the same here looks very chilled
04:35doesn't it. We don't have a lot of work in four weeks. Yeah. And there's nothing like when we walked in.
04:40Yeah. We spent about two weeks of that undoing. Just yeah. Yeah. Well we wish you all the best guys and
04:50you know if the glimpse of what we're getting today is anything to go by it's going to look absolutely
04:54stunning. So yeah good luck guys. Cheers. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you.
