00:08A 18.54 on Tuesday 29th July, Stéphane Jentz's Bottin 56 Black Pearl crossed the finish line in Sherbrooke.
00:20The first Admiral's Cup yacht to complete the Rolex Fastnet race.
00:24A strong offshore showing placed her sixth out of 15 in the Admiral's Cup Class 1, a commendable finish to a demanding campaign.
00:34The Rolex Fastnet race provided a fitting climax to the Admiral's Cup Series with standout victories in both classes.
00:54In Class 1, Van Uden, skipper by Gerd Jan Portman, crossed the line at 21.54 on Tuesday 29th July.
01:12With a corrected time of 4 days, 9 hours and 44 minutes, she secured a decisive class win.
01:18A powerful result from a former Admiral's Cup champion.
01:25I'm speechless, to be honest. You know, we've got this project going now for 10 years and this team has been sailing with me for the last three years.
01:33The young kids, average age of 23, only two persons have done a Fastnet before, myself and one other girl.
01:40The weather gods have been with us very well, but we still had to call the right lanes and do the right technical calls.
01:46And we sailed the boat fast, it was just spotless. And the team was just fantastic.
01:50Man, it's amazing. It's unbelievable actually. We came into this race as for sure the underdog.
02:00Amazing feeling to finish the Fastnet in first place.
02:04Gerd Jan Portman, I mean, he's the man, you know, he's been our coach, he's been our savior at times.
02:12So yeah, the biggest shout out goes to him.
02:15You know, 99, I was a nipper. I was their age pretty much to do winning the Admiral's Cup with the Dutch team.
02:26And then I went on to do three Volvo Ocean races, had a 26 year career.
02:31I mean, this circle is close, right? You gave back what you got and very thankful that I can be the skipper of this fantastic team.
02:39From the start in Cowes to the finish in Cherbourg, Jolt 6 and Callisto were locked in a gripping match race.
03:00After 695 miles, just 23 seconds separated them at the line.
03:06After IRC time correction, it was Jolt 6 that took the Class 2 win.
03:11Coming in with Callisto, we lost them at one point. We could see on the tracker that they had managed to stretch.
03:20We managed to come back and having all these jibes with Callisto around the island there, such a beautiful scenery.
03:27And they're just, they were so perfect in all their maneuvers. It was just, I could see them from behind them.
03:33So definitely these moments were really, really special.
03:37The 2025 Admirals Cup came down to the wire. In Class 1, Peter Harrison's Jolt 3 claimed victory with a consistent performance across the inshore and offshore races.
03:53Just behind, Zen from Australia and Django Wally Rocket 51 from Italy kept the pressure on until the very end.
04:00In Class 2, Jolt 6 secured victory with a decisive win in the Rolex Fastnet race, edging just one point ahead of Callisto, with Beau Ideal rounding off the podium.
04:19With two boats, one stunning campaign and a defining performance in the Rolex Fastnet race, your Club de Monaco write their name into Admiral's Cup history for the very first time.
04:29We knew we had to stay close to Callisto to be able to win this and we just matched everything they were doing.
04:36Anything could have happened. I think until we were really in the port, having a beer, that was really when emotionally we realized we'd done it and it was unbelievable.
04:48And I think that what kept us going was each other. You manage to push each other by being a team and not letting anyone down.
04:55And, you know, these are moments that are very difficult to explain or if you don't leave them.
05:00Without that team spirit, which I think embodies Admiral's Cup, we wouldn't be standing here today holding the trophy.
05:06I just want to thank the whole team. The Cup, they deserve it more than me. They did everything perfectly.
05:13They're better sailors than me and it's thanks to them if I'm here sitting today talking to you.
05:21This year was a new beginning, but it wasn't the start of the story.
05:24To truly grasp what the Admiral's Cup is, we need to remember what it once was.
05:29Official World Championships of Offshore Racing for which 19 countries have sent the elite of their boats, skippers and crews.
05:37As a 15 year old, when the New Zealand team won the Admiral's Cup in 1987, I had propaganda and fair share in Kiwi on my school folders.
05:47My tech drawing folder was covered in them. So it was a massive, massive event.
05:51And I feel very, very privileged and honoured to be able to finally do the event myself. Absolutely chuffed.
05:58Everything about the Admiral's Cup being special, you really felt like you were at a milestone event.
06:02I'm very happy it's back. It's a fantastic event, inshore, offshore, it's got everything.
06:07It covers so many different types of sailing, so many different types of skill.
06:10The best sailors of the world are here, well prepared teams.
06:13And I'd like to see that this go on. You know, don't tell me this is the one and only revised Admiral's Cup.
06:19Hopefully two years down the road, they're going to do it again.
06:26The 2025 Admiral's Cup reminded us all, this is more than a trophy.
06:30It's the beating heart of international team racing.
06:33And now, it's alive again.
06:49And now, it's alive again.
