Some of the stories have been harrowing, as you said, Premier, heartbreaking, and some
00:10
will haunt me and my team for forever.
00:14
But I've also derived a great deal of inspiration from the hope itself, from those people that
00:22
actually do have a vision of a South Australia that is violence-free.
00:26
As you heard from the Premier, and you all well know, this Royal Commission was born out
00:31
of unimaginable loss.
00:33
Four women killed in the space of one walk alone.
00:37
We know that one in 30 children and young people in our state has experienced some form
00:44
of family, domestic, or sexual violence.
00:46
That's one kid in every classroom.
00:49
The Commission has found that the domestic, family, and sexual violence system in this
00:53
state is fragmented.
00:55
It's crisis-driven, and it's silenced.
00:59
I believe this report provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our state to address the issue
01:05
of domestic, family, and sexual violence in a way that we haven't before.
01:10
The commitment I make is that on the back of formally adopting seven recommendations that
01:16
speak to the governance towards the response, we will be in a position to respond to the
01:22
remaining 129 recommendations formally and comprehensively by year's end.
01:27
I don't think anybody reasonably believes that this Royal Commission report will make all
01:33
these problems go away tomorrow.
01:35
But these 136 recommendations contained within it are Sweden reforms that will make a difference
01:42
and will allow us to assume a position of leadership if we do it well across the country.
01:48
So thank you very much for joining us today.
