00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, where we'll be discussing some of the hottest bands from the 2010s that sadly aren't making music anymore.
00:20Number 10, Crystal Castles.
00:30In 2006, Alice Glass and Ethan Kath formed Crystal Castles. They went on to release a range of music, which earned them significant success in the 2010s.
00:39In 2014, a couple of years after their third album, Glass left the band.
00:49In 2017, Glass claimed that Kath had been abusive towards her. This destroyed the band's reputation, and they've been inactive since.
00:56Glass is still a prominent musician, however, releasing a variety of music since her departure. Kath, on the other hand, hasn't done much at all.
01:11Number 9, Carmen.
01:13In 2010, the pop duo Carmen formed, made up of Amy and Nick Noonan.
01:18They started releasing covers on YouTube, which earned them enough popularity to get signed in 2011.
01:23Little figure baggy, think a gorilla, cause I'm killing every jig at that, try to be on my stuff.
01:26Better cuff your man if you will it, but I can get him cause he accidentally slip and fall on my crap.
01:29Carmen went on to release three albums, the last dropping in 2016.
01:33By the end of the decade, Carmen had entirely disappeared.
01:36They grew tired of the bubblegum pop style they were known for, so in 2017, announced a hiatus.
01:42And what a lucky girl you will be, but no he didn't do jack for me.
01:48In its place, came Queen Irby, an Amy Noonan solo project produced by Nick Noonan.
01:54All of Carmen's social media rebranded to Queen Irby, which is a much more hip-hop inspired project.
01:59He loved me, he put no one above me.
02:02These bitches wanna judge me, but I don't care.
02:05Carmen may be gone, but Queen Irby has already released way more music than Carmen ever did.
02:11Number 8, Modern Baseball.
02:13Sitting drunk on the sidewalk, I guess I'll get up, I guess I'll go for a walk.
02:19This Philadelphian emo band was created in 2012, and their debut album dropped in the same year.
02:24Hilariously, they held their first concert in their house, with a picture of Michael Jordan being a valid entry fee.
02:30Mobo released two more albums in their career, but went on an indefinite hiatus in 2017,
02:36stating that their mental health had declined severely.
02:38You got a smile that could like this town, and we might need it.
02:44Since they were an emo band that sang about how important mental health is, taking a break made sense.
02:49So, there's a chance they'll be back someday.
02:51But don't get your hopes up.
02:53The members have since been working on other projects, like Slaughter Beach, Dog, or Solo Material.
02:57Annie, I want you to marry me.
03:01We'll wait a few years.
03:05Number 7, Chairlift.
03:06You might be familiar with pop star Carolyn Polachek, who has frequently collaborated with huge names like Charlie XCX,
03:13and whose work has been featured in the Hideo Kojima video game.
03:16Thinking of me, but you're stuck on the west side again.
03:21Maybe we're meant for another dimension, babe.
03:25Before her successful solo career, she was one half of the band Chairlift, alongside Aaron Fenning.
03:30They formed in 2005, added member Patrick Wimberley in 2007, and then released an album in 2008.
03:37Silver hours, silver hours, are going to happen.
03:44In 2010, Fenning left, and Chairlift became a duo.
03:48Their next two follow-up albums were even more acclaimed than their debut.
03:51After their third and final album, Moth, they ended Chairlift so they could pursue separate projects.
03:56While they were a phenomenal band, their solo careers have both been highly successful, so we can't complain much.
04:01I'd be wrong in your own.
04:05Number 6. The Civil Wars
04:10Our next duo was formed in 2008, created by Joy Williams and John Paul White.
04:21They wouldn't become widely known until 2011, when they released their debut album, Barton Hollow.
04:27They'd released one more album two years later, but had broken up by the end of 2014.
04:32Throughout their six-year career, they managed to win four Grammy Awards.
04:35Oh, I wish I'd never, ever seen your face
04:42Unfortunately, personal conflicts between the two just got too severe.
04:46Thankfully, things have healed between the pair since.
04:48In 2023, they worked with Taylor Swift to remake the track, Safe and Sound, originally from the Hunger Games soundtrack.
04:54Just close your eyes, the sun is going down
05:01Number 5. Feed Me Jack
05:03You might be familiar with bedroom pop musician Still Woozy, who has been active since 2017.
05:14Before his solo career, he was part of the significantly less popular, but no less acclaimed band, Feed Me Jack.
05:21The group became one of the biggest math rock bands of the 2010s, which admittedly isn't saying much, given it's a fairly niche genre.
05:28Looking at the ground on the pop band Causing simple fear of vulnerability
05:33They were formed in 2011 in Santa Cruz, California.
05:38Their debut album, Chump Free, was adored.
05:40Unfortunately, they wouldn't develop this sound much further, since they broke up in 2016.
05:45Their breakup was announced on Tumblr, which is very 2010s.
05:49Since then, they've all been pursuing solo projects, like the previously mentioned Still Woozy.
05:53She had to choose me over her mom
05:57I know I wouldn't last long
06:00Number 4. One Direction
06:03Baby, you light up my world like nobody else
06:06The way that you lift your hair gets me overwhelmed
06:10Few people alive in the 2010s were unaware of One Direction.
06:14They were the biggest boy band of their time, achieving international stardom,
06:18with tracks like What Makes You Beautiful, and Best Song Ever.
06:27They were originally formed on the X Factor, the British singing competition.
06:31Despite only coming third, the group was signed by Simon Cowell, and went on to make millions.
06:36After five years on top of the world, member Zayn Malik left, claiming he wanted some time away from the spotlight.
06:42Within a year, the band had split up permanently, and they all went on to pursue solo careers.
06:48Number 3. FX
06:55For the mathematicians among us, we're not talking about a function, but the K-pop girl group.
07:08The band formed in 2009, and played together until 2016.
07:11They made a big mark in 2013, when their album, Pink Tape, became the only K-pop entry on Fuse's 41 Best Albums of 2013.
07:19They later became the first K-pop group to perform at the SXSW Festival.
07:24In 2015, member Sully decided to leave due to health issues.
07:35The rest of the group disbanded a year later to pursue solo projects.
07:38After a long, hard battle with depression, Sully was found dead in her room in 2019.
07:43The phrase, Love U Sully, began trending online, alongside the track Peach, by K-pop giant IU, written about her.
07:51The second K-pop group to enter our list is the Wonder Girls, who were the first South Koreans to enter America's Billboard Hot 100 in 2009, predating Psy by three years.
08:14They were formed in 2007, then dominated their music scene for an entire decade.
08:19Now they're considered pioneers of the genre.
08:28At the height of their fame, they opened for the Jonas Brothers, in an attempt to become big in America.
08:33It wasn't as successful as they hoped, with later bands like BTS and TWICE truly becoming international stars.
08:39Still, Wonder Girls walked so they could fly, and their contributions to music are dearly remembered.

09:071. Brockhampton
09:08We can't talk about the best bands of the 2010s without mentioning Brockhampton.
09:19They were formed in 2014 by Kevin Abstract, and had 13 members when they released their debut album, Saturation.
09:26It was released in 2017, alongside two other albums, all within six months.
09:35They became huge extremely quickly.
09:37They believed themselves to be redefining boy bands, calling themselves the best since One Direction.
09:43They'd released a total of eight albums in their eight-year career, finally breaking up in 2022.
09:48Their final albums were received fairly poorly, but they've all been pursuing solo careers since, and they've left a legacy that will forever be remembered.
09:55I've been beat up my whole life.
09:57I've been shot down, kicked down twice.
09:59Ain't no stopping me tonight.
