00:00Welcome back to our hidden gem series where we show you places in Monmouthshire and the
00:04White Valley that might not be hidden but still look pretty special and today we're at the Malt
00:10House. Tucked away in the heart of Monmouth, the Malt House was created by combining two buildings
00:15together by George Porter Tippins who is a JP and mayor trained to be a maltster, a person who
00:20makes malt from barley. Recently the Malt House has a new cafe in the building, a charming cafe
00:26serving the very best local produce alongside shelves of unique gifts. House Cafe uses local
00:32produce from local farms and local suppliers. As you can see there's plenty to choose from from
00:37crisps, cheeses and loads of snacks. There are some new equipment that they also used to use in the
00:44malting process. In the building there is a shop called Bits and Bobs, an antique shop which sells
00:51all sorts of pre-loved gifts. As you can see there is so much to choose from from China,
00:57bric-a-brac, there's even a car, there's bikes, there's so much you can choose from.
01:06There's also a clock making workshop restoring beautiful timepieces including a remarkable 250
01:24year old clock from Scotland. The Malt House blends history, craftsmanship and local enterprise and the
01:30one roof, a place where the past and present meet in the heart of Monmouth. And as it was the last
01:35serving malt house in Monmouth, it was awarded a blue plaque. Make sure to follow us so you can
