00:00Previously on Project Runway, Antonio, you're in.
00:04Casey, that means you're out.
00:06Ethan, as the winning designer, you're going to have an opportunity to swap.
00:10I'm going to swap Jesus with Madeline.
00:15I'm happy Ethan let go Jesus because I don't need drama.
00:21Each house must create an activewear capsule collection.
00:25I'm going to tear it up.
00:26But what if your team doesn't?
00:27Ethan, I think you knew that you had a great look and you didn't give a f**k about the other people on the team.
00:34Jesus, you were our favorite look. Congratulations.
00:37You shut me up.
00:39But I do have to tell you, Antonio, yours was our least favorite in the winning team.
00:44It sucks.
00:45Angelou, you really need to bring in a sense of drama. Step it up.
00:50I think it kind of looks like a tampon.
00:52I mean, this is unwearable. I love a corset.
00:55At the sauna. Guys, the story has to match. You cannot piss on me and tell me it's raining.
01:03A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine, and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:12This is Project Runway.
01:14Angelo, Alex, and Vijay, you're all disappointed this week.
01:26I know that my work is better than the both of them, so they need to go home first before me.
01:32Vijay, you're safe. You can leave the runway.
01:37Oh, my God. Thank you.
01:38What does that mean?
01:39Yes.
01:46Alex, your construction left a lot to be desired, and you missed the mark.
01:52I adore Angelo, but I have a lot more to offer.
01:56I don't want to go home.
01:58Alex, Angelo, in this competition, you have to remember that showmanship is just as important as craftsmanship.
02:08All I'm thinking is I need this for my daughter. I cannot go home this early.
02:15Alex, Angelo, one of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
02:20Angelo, you're in. You can leave the runway.
02:34Thank you, guys.
02:36I'm sorry, Alex. That means you're out.
02:40Afidazine.
02:42It was lovely to meet all of you.
02:44Good luck.
02:44Well, it's not fun to be the second person going home. That's for sure.
02:52No, I deserve it. I really do. It's not a good example of my work at all.
02:58Is it going to be like this each week?
03:00this shit.
03:02off.
03:04You know, I don't disagree with the feedback that the judges had.
03:08This is an incredible, fun experience that I've been able to have.
03:12Alex, Alex, Alex, Alex, wow.
03:16What's next is we're going to go home.
03:19We're going to have a sauna, and life will continue on.
03:28You guys ready to get pushed a little harder?
03:30Yes.
03:31We're ready.
03:32I think until now, there really hasn't been any clear leaders in either challenge.
03:38So I think we're going to blow it up.
03:39So Ethan and Jesus, for winning the first two challenges, each of you are going to become
03:48the leaders of your own house.
03:50Yes, sir.
03:51Versus.
03:52Bring it.
03:53Bring it.
03:54Oh, my God.
03:55Bring it.
03:56Oh, my God.
03:57Another team challenge.
03:59I don't want to be on either team.
04:01I just can't wait to work by myself without thinking about other people.
04:06You'll be picking your team shortly, and choose wisely.
04:12I'm so excited.
04:13Good luck.
04:14See you soon.
04:15The team is hot, Ethan.
04:19I always wanted to start my own house.
04:23This is insane.
04:24Such a twist.
04:25Honestly, I feel like it's going to be a tough competition because I know how talented Ethan
04:30is.
04:31Oh, the shape.
04:32It's cool.
04:33It's going to be a battle.
04:37I'll make it look good.
04:41What is that?
04:42It's a group challenge.
04:45It's time to pick teams, so things about to get spicy.
04:51Hello, designers.
04:58I'm sure you guys are wondering, what are these bags?
05:01Yes.
05:02Each of these bags are fabrics that I would say are considered boring.
05:10So PNC Bank believes whether it's managing your money responsibly or sewing the same stitch
05:15for hours, actions that seem boring are essential to create brilliant results.
05:20So in these bags are basic fabrics and textiles.
05:24Seen on a bolt or a design table, they might be considered.
05:27But when slowly and thoughtfully designed and fabricated, something boring transforms
05:35into something beautiful.
05:36So the two houses will select from three mystery bags of boring to inspire brilliant looks on
05:42the runway.
05:43Ethan and Jesus, you have the power to choose your houses.
05:46My strategy is to pick designers that are great tailors.
05:50Definitely want my twin brother and my team because I know how good we work together.
05:53But I'm thinking Ethan, strategy wise, might take him away from me.
05:58Jesus and Antonio love to be heard.
06:03I'm going to try to keep all of the firecracker energy out of my group.
06:08We're going to flip a button to decide who picks first.
06:11Good luck.
06:13Ah, it's Ethan.
06:14Ethan.
06:15Oh, wow.
06:17All right.
06:18My first pick is each other.
06:23Thank you, baby.
06:24My first pick is going to be Antonio.
06:28Of course.
06:29Hello.
06:31Ethan, you're next.
06:32Joseph McCrae.
06:33Oh.
06:36Madeline.
06:38Miss Joan.
06:39Angelica.
06:43BJ.
06:46I am shocked.
06:47Jesus picked me because we don't really get along.
06:51Oh my God.
06:52Lord.
06:55Angelo.
06:57Baby.
06:58I've always been picked last.
07:02Melania.
07:04But it's fueling me to show I'm actually the special sauce.
07:09I got all the skills.
07:10You just don't know it yet.
07:12Because Ethan got to pick first.
07:14It's only fair if Jesus picks first the bag of morons.
07:18I was born with a pack of two, so I'm going to pick two.
07:22Okay.
07:23Let's see.
07:24Oh.
07:25Oh.
07:26This.
07:27Is your fabric.
07:29Fun.
07:30What do you think?
07:31I like it.
07:33It's a great wall.
07:34We can make this fabric look really expensive.
07:37They can have it all day every day.
07:40That's ugly.
07:41There's barely any stretch on it.
07:43Keep it.
07:44We don't want it on this side.
07:46All right, Ethan.
07:47I'm going to choose number one.
07:48Okay.
07:49Let's see.
07:50Please be better.
07:51Please be better.
07:52Please be better.
07:53Looks like.
07:54Denim.
07:55Yeah.
07:56All right.
07:57Denim is so versatile.
07:59It is classic.
08:00It could be modern.
08:02We got the best material.
08:03So now that you have the foundations for this challenge, each house must create a capsule collection that shows that boring can be brilliant.
08:11This is about exploring volume, textures, making a bit of innovation.
08:15But anything here can be fresh, including a basic bag of boring.
08:20Hmm.
08:21Yeah.
08:22And I have a special twist.
08:23My very dear friend Sofia Vergara will wear the winning look.
08:26Woo!
08:27Woo!
08:28Woo!
08:29Woo!
08:30So you guys better come up with something fabulous or she will never talk to me ever again.
08:35Oh, I can't wait.
08:36I want to win this challenge.
08:38I'm so ready.
08:39Last week, Heidi said that my look wasn't her favorite.
08:42I kind of want to redeem myself.
08:44We have Sofia Vergara, the princess of Colombia.
08:47This is Estrada, girl.
08:49This is what we love to dress.
08:50Let's do this.
08:51You guys will have until the end of tonight and three hours tomorrow to make these collections.
08:57Oh, my God.
08:58Another one day challenge.
08:59Ah, this is Project Runway and it will never be easy.
09:03Good luck making boring brilliant.
09:06See you on the runway.
09:13So, I really wanted to have a name for the house.
09:16Okay.
09:17Catalina.
09:18Catalina is a very beautiful flower from Colombia.
09:21It comes from the family of the orchid.
09:24And considering Sofia Vergara is our guest judge, I was thinking playing with the structure
09:30to create volume and beautiful silhouettes, right?
09:35Do you know what a Catalina flower is?
09:37No, not really.
09:38But it can get inspired if I don't know how it looks like.
09:42So, yeah.
09:43Like this.
09:44And there's the orchids here.
09:45It's like this.
09:46Like that.
09:47Beautiful structure like this.
09:49I'm not like a girly-girly designer.
09:52I'm more like modern and edgy and sexy.
09:55So, okay.
09:56How can I modernize it?
09:58What is the Catalina aspect of your outfit?
10:03I don't know.
10:04I'm just asking because this is the inspiration, right?
10:06Yeah.
10:07So, we have to defend like.
10:08Well, it's good to say it now.
10:09Yeah.
10:10Yeah.
10:11Girl, I'm honestly getting a little annoyed because BJ is fighting me on the inspiration.
10:16Let's not forget that I'm the team leader.
10:19So, just do what I say.
10:22Jesus has a very strong personality and so do I.
10:26So, I'm afraid that we will clash.
10:33House of Jesus, are we all doing flowers?
10:36I think we should.
10:37Yeah.
10:38I think because of structure.
10:39Yeah.
10:40BJ?
10:41I'm not sure yet.
10:42BJ?
10:43I don't want yours to look like complete, like it doesn't belong in the collection.
10:48BJ is very quiet and doesn't really share what she's designing.
10:52You know, she's like a silent killer.
10:53Like all of a sudden, you're like, whoa, where'd that look come from?
10:56At the end of the day, one look can ruin your win.
10:59And I kind of want to know what you're doing.
11:01So then that way we can like, maybe you have a good technique that we could use.
11:05You know what I mean?
11:06Okay.
11:07And share that with us.
11:08Yeah.
11:09Yes, we're going to help each other.
11:11But no, I'm not going to share everything that I have in my mind.
11:14You have to be creative on your own.
11:17Welcome to team Ethan.
11:20We have the house of Ethan.
11:22Or like I like to call it, ho.
11:25Our overarching theme is showstoppers.
11:31Huh?
11:34Okay.
11:36I think that we should prioritize using fringe.
11:41Fringe.
11:46Do we want to take a couple of minutes and just draw?
11:49Yeah, let's draw it.
11:50I love this friction pen.
11:53And luckily, they're erasable.
11:56It's a life saver right now.
11:58Okay.
11:59Ethan, so this is like the fringe idea concept.
12:02And then this is the ruffle.
12:03Yep.
12:04You have two really good ideas.
12:06We're going to dive into fringe.
12:07Okay.
12:08Yes.
12:09With the cool hat.
12:10Okay.
12:11You know, Ethan is the head of the house.
12:13So he kind of selects which design that he thinks each designer should do.
12:18We're going to do the flow with the swoopy swoopy.
12:21So I'm making a frayed denim gown with frayed accents and a frayed spiral headpiece.
12:29You have to do this hat.
12:30Yeah.
12:31It could be really beautiful.
12:32That's not my favorite look of the ones I sketch, but I'm trying to be a team player.
12:38Hello.
12:39Trisha.
12:40Hello.
12:41Hello.
12:42Hey.
12:43Wow.
12:44Are we feeling good?
12:45I don't see a lot done at all.
12:47We're just starting.
12:48I keep it fresh.
12:49So what are you doing?
12:50I wanted to do a powerful coat.
12:51This kind of like idea of the Catalina flower and moving it into the waist.
13:04Yeah.
13:05I mean this coat, if this is it, has to be perfect.
13:08So everybody was doing kind of a dress bodice type of thing and I said let me step out and
13:15do pants that's tailored.
13:17This is so dynamic as a pant.
13:19Oh my God.
13:20I know.
13:21I'm screaming.
13:22Ground breaking.
13:23Honestly, I've never seen a pant more interesting in my entire career.
13:27I know how to rework a boring uniform into something cool since I have dyslexia.
13:34This is how my process works.
13:36Dyslexia switches the letters around.
13:38So I had to learn early to see disorganization or see confusion and make it make sense.
13:44So Christian, chill baby.
13:47I got this.
13:48Okay.
13:49So on the collection, I'm going to go at the end.
13:52This is the finale moment.
13:53The finale moment.
13:54I'm designing a beautiful mermaid gown incorporating the Catalina flower.
13:58I want to be on top.
13:59I want Law to tell me what he told my brother.
14:01You shut me up.
14:03You shut me up.
14:04You've got to make sure that this silhouette is just really interesting.
14:08Noted.
14:09BJ, you're making a pencil dress again.
14:12What happens on our hips?
14:14They open?
14:15Yes.
14:16Oh yeah.
14:17Yeah.
14:18So this is skin.
14:19Yes.
14:20Wow.
14:21Okay.
14:22I'm almost thinking like goldman sleeve and then an open back here.
14:25Mm-hmm.
14:26It's very chic and classic.
14:28Yeah.
14:29But I don't think it's that exciting.
14:35I'm going to do this most sick high-waisted pant and it's going to have a window.
14:40How is this standing up?
14:41I am a master of boning.
14:44Yeah.
14:45Boning is understructure that helps garments have shape to make them larger than life.
14:52If you can master boning, you can make any garment submissive to your whim.
14:58It's my first time to use boning, to be honest.
15:00First time to use boning ever?
15:01Yep.
15:02Yep.
15:03Okay.
15:04This is my design.
15:05I was trying to make this storm dress.
15:07So if it doesn't work, it won't work.
15:08It won't work.
15:09It's going down.
15:10I'm just saying.
15:12What are you making?
15:13I got the pencil skirt that's going to go underneath and I'm playing with this shape.
15:18Is this your vibe?
15:19Switching it up.
15:20I don't want you to take on something that you really don't do and isn't your aesthetic.
15:25Yep.
15:26I kind of agree with him, but at the same time, I wanted to stick to my ground and not create
15:30another pant.
15:31I feel like if I execute that, it's enough to make it to the next week.
15:35Okay, Joan.
15:36What is all that?
15:38Fringe?
15:39Oh, God.
15:42I just think that's just not that interesting.
15:46Mm-hmm.
15:47It's been done literally 100 million thousand times.
15:50From Britney to Steven Tyler to every project runway designer that's ever been in this competition
15:55has done a frayed edge denim dress.
15:58Oh, no.
15:59Does it feel good, Mr. Christian?
16:03What are we supposed to do?
16:04Like, take all of it off and put nothing on the runway?
16:06Like, I don't have time or the bandwidth to pivot.
16:10So you've got to make it the best fringe-seamed edge thing you've ever seen.
16:15You have a lot to do.
16:17Good luck.
16:18I'm shook.
16:19I'm shook.
16:20All right.
16:21Battle of the Houses.
16:22It's truly a battle.
16:23I still think a lot needs to happen before these collections become brilliant.
16:28Don't forget that all the boring things are right, like the hems and the zippers.
16:33All the details need to be perfect.
16:35The judges are going to be watching.
16:37Okay.
16:38Get to work.
16:39Bye, everybody.
16:40Bye.
16:41Good night.
16:42Still standing by the fringe.
16:45Bye.
16:46So we have a battle.
16:48Mm-hmm.
16:49It's got to be interesting.
16:50Right.
16:51Whew.
16:52That did not go well at all.
16:55I am worried about the direction that we're going as a team.
16:59Showstoppers is not a theme.
17:02It's a vision.
17:03You know?
17:04And I just think this whole fringe thing was a last-ditch effort to try to make it make sense.
17:11I am really concerned about this challenge.
17:14Come get some.
17:15Come get some.
17:16Come get some.
17:17You know that you wanna come get some.
17:19Rumi, what do you think of this edge on here?
17:25Utica was saying we add a fringe.
17:28Trust your instinct, Rumi.
17:30I'm trying to be a team player, okay?
17:33I am really surprised about Ethan's choices.
17:36I think his goal is not to win the group challenge.
17:39I think his goal is to be the strongest.
17:41He loved my piece, so I'm in a good spot, but I want to make sure that y'all are in a good spot.
17:46Jesus, do you already know what the other team is working on?
17:50I don't know.
17:51I see a lot of volume and a lot of, like...
17:53You know?
17:54I am extremely worried for the house of Ethan.
17:58They are all over the place.
17:59I really don't understand what Ethan is creating.
18:03Ms. Jones is really confused.
18:05Yushin doing this dress that I know is going to be impossible for him to finish it on a one-day challenge.
18:13Villania.
18:14Yeah?
18:15This is a concept I had in mind for us to all incorporate the ruffle.
18:19Like, look at the color, look big.
18:21More circle.
18:22More circle.
18:23Yeah.
18:24That's a cascade.
18:25Yeah, I see.
18:26At first, I wasn't sure how I was going to interpret the Catalina Flower, but now I see it.
18:30that I'm liking what everyone is working on
18:33and we're really making Boring brilliant.
18:37Kristen!
18:39Hello, who wants a model, you ready?
18:41What?
18:42I don't even have a dress to fit on her.
18:43Hello, ladies!
18:45Excited to work with you!
18:46Oh, me too, how are you?
18:48Sorry, I have nothing to fit on you right now.
18:52Wait, you have nothing to try on?
18:53Oh no.
18:54What are you gonna do?
18:56What if you cut this like you're going to,
18:59safety pin it down flat and put it on her?
19:02Yeah.
19:03Right now.
19:03Okay.
19:04The clothes need a lot of like, you know, hand stitch,
19:07but Christian is saying I have to put it on the model anyway.
19:12Getting the structure to do this,
19:14it's gonna be a little bit tough.
19:16It's not working.
19:18I feel very frustrated.
19:19It's gonna take a lot of finesse.
19:22The nightmare is happening.
19:24I have to completely start over.
19:27We'll whip out something easy and something that's in your wheelhouse.
19:30That isn't so elaborate.
19:32I really don't know.
19:34I really don't know.
19:36You can either, you listen to me and I make it easier for you,
19:39or you continue to struggle with your piece.
19:41Pick a lane.
19:43This is it?
19:43It's just a pencil skirt?
19:45No, no, no, no.
19:45This is the bottom.
19:46It's four layers.
19:48You didn't make that in denim yet?
19:49I can't make it in denim because it's gonna be too heavy.
19:51The outer layer is gonna be done.
19:53What if you don't have time?
19:55Oh, Lord, Ethan, I'm worried.
19:57Yes, my team is struggle bussing.
20:02You guys, really?
20:03We don't have a lot of clothes to fit.
20:06So really, this is gonna be it?
20:09Multiple people are just not gonna fit things?
20:11Ethan, your team has no clothes.
20:13Yuchen couldn't even get his off the mannequin.
20:16He has no bottom at all, and that's a pencil skirt,
20:19and if that's happening, then good luck.
20:21You might as well just say goodbye.
20:25I really believe that the other group should feel worried
20:28because Christian is actually panicking.
20:30It's crazy.
20:32We'll see you on the runway.
20:37The showstopper aspect is my whole MO,
20:40and I am realizing in the thick of it
20:42that it's a real challenge for the team.
20:45Maybe this was a bad decision.
20:50And just come up with something new,
20:52something fresh that you know that you can whip out
20:54that has that wow factor.
20:57Hey, Jay, he started again.
21:01I have six hours left.
21:02I have to make something else.
21:04I don't want to drag the team down
21:06because Ethan picked me first.
21:08I have to make it work.
21:10Show me what you're working with.
21:12Show me, show me.
21:13Wow, guys, it's runway day.
21:16It's runway day.
21:18Hey.
21:19Morning, guys.
21:20She's a designer.
21:22Oh, my God.
21:23Oh, my God.
21:27She's a designer, a model, and a drag queen.
21:31Bitch.
21:33My team is struggling, and it's like Utica's all about light,
21:37uplift, and truly that showstopper energy.
21:40So if there's anything that's going to get my team on track
21:44to be a showstopper, it's her.
21:46Yes.
21:47We thought you were the only models.
21:49Utica.
21:50I have to finish my top and my skirt and some ham off the cape.
22:00I'm so determined to finish my look.
22:02If I don't make this happen, I'll go home.
22:04Hello.
22:05Christian, meet Eureka.
22:07I see her.
22:08I wish that look was going on the runway,
22:09other than some of these other ones.
22:11Oh!
22:12No tea, no shade, no pink lemonade.
22:13All right, houses.
22:14It's the final stretch.
22:15Don't forget to send your models to the Ulta Beauty Salon.
22:18Hola, hola.
22:19Bring out her natural features.
22:20I love the makeup.
22:21It's really chic.
22:22That is everything.
22:23I'm so excited.
22:24You deliver.
22:25I'm just going to have to open up one of your darts.
22:27Didn't she?
22:28No.
22:29Let's do it tight.
22:30Let's do it tight.
22:31I'm so excited.
22:32You deliver.
22:33She's going to have to open up one of your darts.
22:34Didn't she?
22:35No.
22:36It looks snatched.
22:38Trust me.
22:39Being picked last, I was just like,
22:41my team is overly scrutinizing my look.
22:44But fit is important.
22:45And even though I'm not as confident as the other designers,
22:49I'm feeling good about tailoring stuff
22:51because I'm a tailored type of girl.
22:52I just need to clean everything up.
22:54I'm telling you, this is perfect.
22:56Do not change the zipper.
22:57Leave it like that.
22:59What is this?
23:01I'm making a very sexy top and a very sexy,
23:04like, you know, skirt inside, like a dog jacket.
23:06So it's a whole new look.
23:08We're leaving this room in less than 10 minutes.
23:11So good.
23:12Yes.
23:13Oh my God, his sword.
23:14Yes.
23:15So I'm a little worried.
23:17Their collection is very good and very strong and very done.
23:21I'm definitely stressing.
23:22The law is going to cut you up.
23:25Oh, Lord.
23:33Hello.
23:34Hi.
23:34Hello, houses.
23:36And welcome to the runway.
23:37As you know, in fashion, one day you're in.
23:39And the next day, you're out.
23:42Each house was asked to create a capsule collection,
23:45transforming something boring into something brilliant.
23:49Oh my God, I hope it is brilliant.
23:51We can't wait to see what you've made for the runway.
23:54All right, first, let's meet our judges.
23:55CFDA, award-winning stylist, and image architect, La Roche.
24:00Woo!
24:01Yeah.
24:03Guest judge, co-founder of the fashion line,
24:06favorite daughter, Sarah Foster.
24:07Woo!
24:08Hi, Sarah.
24:10And actress, model, and icon, Sophia Vergara.
24:14Woo!
24:16Woo!
24:18I love it.
24:19I miss you.
24:20Mwah.
24:21Mwah.
24:22Hi, guys.
24:22Hi.
24:24You guys look wonderful.
24:25Not only is she my dear friend,
24:26but she will be wearing the winning look to an upcoming event.
24:30This is so exciting.
24:31Thank you very much for being our guest.
24:33And I'm hoping that this is good.
24:35All right, let's start the show.
24:40I got that what you want.
24:45This is the outfit I want my brand to be in the world of.
24:50I am kind of loving the material, though,
24:52even though it's boring.
24:53It looks like something that's from a different era,
24:56but it also looks like a little bit futuristic in a way.
25:08This is hot.
25:09If you have the legs for it, this is amazing.
25:11You have them.
25:12No, I don't.
25:13You do.
25:14I am so ecstatic.
25:16Those cutouts are on fire.
25:19It's a dangerous dress.
25:20She's sexy, but very mysterious.
25:24And I really love it.
25:31Oh, my God.
25:32I took very basic wool to something extraordinary.
25:39Wow.
25:40I love it.
25:42To the people who always choose me last,
25:44my skills are delicious and top tier.
25:47We got that fire.
25:48We got this.
25:49When I finish a garment, it fits the body like a glove.
25:52That looks expensive.
25:53Well-tailored, well-made.
25:54It's just so good.
25:55I think it looks really cool on the runway
25:56with the dramatic color, the ruffle coming down.
25:58Sofia is smiling.
25:59What an honor to see Sofia Regal.
26:00I can't stop looking at my design,
26:01and I feel like I've done it again.
26:03See my full mermaid gown.
26:04I'm so proud of myself for really understanding
26:06this inspiration of the Catalina flower,
26:08and the structure of it made it so beautiful.
26:10And looking at Sofia Vergara's face,
26:11it's really cool on the runway with the dramatic color,
26:13the ruffle coming down.
26:14Sofia is smiling.
26:15What an honor to see Sofia Vergara.
26:17I can't stop looking at my design,
26:19and I feel like I've done it again.
26:21See my full mermaid gown.
26:24I'm so proud of myself for really understanding
26:27this inspiration of the Catalina flower,
26:29and the structure of it made it so beautiful.
26:31And looking at Sofia Vergara's face, smiling,
26:34like saying, wow, spectacular.
26:40I can see you wearing that one.
26:41Yeah, like all of them.
26:42Never.
26:44I am so proud of my house.
26:46We made the collection that we were set up to design.
26:50Good luck, Ethan.
26:56This is a showstopper.
26:59It's grand.
26:59It has silhouette.
27:00It takes denim.
27:02It makes it fun.
27:03The window works.
27:07I set out to create a grand moment, and I did that.
27:11How do you get inside the car?
27:13Well, you don't.
27:19Wanted to be a team player.
27:21It has the frayed edges, almost like a little cape.
27:24That's just who I am as a designer.
27:27When I commit to something, I just go for it.
27:34I don't know what to think.
27:35There's a lot going on on this one.
27:37I'm really proud of my denim jacket, the overall look, the fit came out really good.
27:49Look at me, look at me, look at me.
27:54Everybody knows that I flaunt like this when I walk, walk.
27:57Oh, I love that.
27:58My idea of a showstopper is simplicity and volume.
28:01So I could see her taking it onto a red carpet to be like a cool, but quirky, but still like
28:07that it, girl, or she just sort of like a stroll down the street.
28:10But listen, come on now.
28:11It's a moment, baby.
28:14To do that with denim, that's not easy.
28:19Yes, girl!
28:22When she opened that cape, that's the sexiest thing I've ever seen in my life.
28:26This look represents my resilience.
28:28It really shows how I can make something totally new in six hours.
28:33I want to see you in life, Sophie, when you go to Coachella.
28:37I want to see you in my life.
28:39Woo!
28:41Yes, Deva!
28:42As frantic as it was, our individuality was really shown and we did the job of showstoppers
28:48and the whole collection, I think that it's cool.
28:51But if the judges don't like it, I could be on the chopping block.
29:01Okay, we scored your designs and One House was truly brilliant.
29:06The winning look will come from the winning house, while the eliminated designer will come
29:10from the losing house.
29:12House of Jesus.
29:16You were our...
29:17favorite house.
29:21Wow, congrats, guys.
29:27Wow, wow, wow.
29:28It feels very empowering to be a leader and to have my house win, to be in the top three first week,
29:34to one second week, and then now third week again.
29:39Good job, Jesus.
29:40Okay, House of Utica, we're going to talk to you later.
29:43You can leave the runway.
29:46No, uh, not the House of Ho being in the bottom.
29:49Damn.
29:51How could you put something this sickening in the bottom?
29:55Tell me, judges, tell me.
29:57Wow, what a day.
30:01I'm not surprised we're in the bottom.
30:03I think we got carried away with Ethan's plan to create a showstopper piece.
30:08Definitely a little frustrating.
30:09Congratulations.
30:14I felt like you worked together.
30:16I was so impressed with the tailoring.
30:19So impressed.
30:20Spectacular.
30:21I mean, I could definitely wear many of those designs that you guys prepared this time.
30:26We want to talk to the three designers with our three favorite looks.
30:33Jesus.
30:33Wow.
30:36Antonio.
30:36And Belania.
30:41Congrats.
30:44So that means Madeline and BJ, you're safe.
30:47You can leave the runway.
30:48Thank you so much.
30:50Thank you so much.
30:53All right, let's bring out your models.
30:58Hi.
30:58Oh my God.
31:00This material is nothing boring at all.
31:03No.
31:03Amazing.
31:04It actually makes it elegant.
31:05The material makes it elegant.
31:07Expensive.
31:07Yeah.
31:08This is by far the best looks of the season so far.
31:12I can really see each and every one of you being a winner in this challenge.
31:16Yeah.
31:18All right.
31:18Jesus, we're going to start with you first.
31:20Yes.
31:20I really am impressed.
31:22I mean, wool can go very wrong.
31:24That could look floppy and it looks impeccable.
31:27Like the way that you tailored this coat, that was risky.
31:32I mean, I usually can't wear things that have so much volume over here.
31:36But I think I could because it's open, low.
31:40It's amazing.
31:40It's spectacular.
31:41And I think this could look beautiful in any, any woman.
31:44Gracias.
31:45You did a really good job at taking a fabric that's considered as boring, but I think is absolutely
31:52sophisticated.
31:53Thank you so much.
31:53And you shut me up twice.
31:55Wow.
31:56Two runways in a row.
31:57So congratulations.
31:59Thank you, Jesus.
32:00Another one of our favorite looks came from Bolania.
32:04Oof.
32:05This thing falling down her neck.
32:07I've never seen anything like it in my life.
32:10It's a lot, but it's not.
32:12I think it was perfect for this material.
32:15It was perfect for the color.
32:17It was perfect for me.
32:20It feels timeless.
32:22I can see a superstar or a model of every era wearing this suit.
32:27Truly, I see it.
32:28Oh, I would definitely put Zadaya in this.
32:29Oh, yes.
32:30Without a doubt.
32:30It's super sexy.
32:32She can show her shoulders.
32:34All the pretty parts of a woman is showing.
32:36Just, ah.
32:37It's the peplum.
32:37Just like, almost like this race.
32:39It was, and the peplum.
32:41There are no notes.
32:44This felt like something I had never saw before, and I've seen so many clothes.
32:49But this I will never forget. Ever.
32:52Please, you're going to make me cry right now.
32:54You should be very proud.
32:56Thank you. Thank you.
32:58So many long, long, long years, I was not seen, not recognized for my skills and abilities.
33:03So getting praised for it feels really good.
33:06It definitely confirms and reaffirms why I'm here, and I feel seen.
33:13That leaves us with Antonio.
33:16It's gorgeous.
33:17I can also see Sofia wear this.
33:20Yeah.
33:20It's elegant.
33:21It's spectacular.
33:22Absolutely gorgeous.
33:24Thank you so much.
33:24But that being said, I just want to point out a couple things that I think could have made it a
33:28little better.
33:29Had you trimmed the petal that's coming down just a little bit, just to pull the snatch the waist in.
33:37All right, it's time to name the winner.
33:39The winning look truly wowed us by taking gray wool and bringing in structure, detail,
33:45and really a lot of elegance to bring brilliance out of boring.
33:51Never boring.
33:53Well, Sofia, since you are going to be wearing the winning look, I'll give you the honor.
33:57I mean, I would wear all of them.
33:59But if I only had money for one, I would say Belania.
34:07Oh, thank you.
34:12Oh my gosh.
34:13Congratulations, Belania.
34:16I'm shocked.
34:16Literally, I'm like.
34:19And Sofia Vergara is going to wear your look.
34:21Oh, yes.
34:23Work that body.
34:26House of Jesus, you can leave the runway.
34:31Whoa.
34:32I've won a challenge on Project Runway.
34:40This part made me born like a baby.
34:41I was like, please, y'all stop.
34:44Winning this challenge makes me feel like I'm getting closer to defining who I am as a designer.
34:50Finally, seeing a little bit of the vision in the light of what's been inside of me for so long.
34:56So don't choose me last, y'all.
34:58Choose me first.
34:59And we can win together.
35:02All right, let's talk to House of Ethan, or should I say House of Utica?
35:09Yeah, I'm not surprised.
35:10I kind of had a feeling, you know, Ethan's leadership for this challenge was an epic fail.
35:17The direction that we were going as a team was all wrong.
35:21And here we are.
35:22All right, House of Utica, tell us about your collection.
35:32I come from the world of drag, so I brought this idea to the team of creating showstoppers,
35:41to create a moment, to create big silhouettes. And I think we did a darn good job getting that aha.
35:48I understand that you wanted to have the wow. You know, we also want to be wowed. But I feel like
35:52you didn't keep in mind Sophia. Sophia will wear the winning look. So it's kind of like, don't you
35:58have that in the back of your head. Most importantly, we would like to bring out the three looks that we liked the least.
36:09Joseph, Yujin, you're safe. You can leave the runway.
36:14Thank you guys.
36:18Which means Joan, Angelo, and Utica. Unfortunately, you created our least favorite looks.
36:26All right, let's bring out your models.
36:32Okay, Angelo, let's talk about your design. There's just so much to look at. It's so busy in all the
36:39wrong places. I like the jacket. Does the jacket come off? Yeah. The jacket with the corset and the
36:47pants would have been very wearable. Turn around, please. Everything looks so crooked. No.
36:55Angelo, thank you. All right, Joan. It's a very confusing design. Those pieces of
37:03denim are not beautiful to look at. You don't even want to touch them. It looks shredded.
37:08It looks like something bad happened to it. I mean, no doubt she would get worse dressed than that.
37:14That does not look luxe. Well, you know, I'm an evening wear designer and this was the assignment.
37:21This is the direction we were given as a team, you know, and I'm trying to be a team player.
37:26Direction from who? Your leader? Yes.
37:30We submitted sketches. This is what was selected for me to design, so.
37:34And now you're in the bottom because you let somebody push you away from what your aesthetic is.
37:39There is a lot of pressure to create a vibe and guide a team to victory. It doesn't feel great,
37:47but my leadership could be the weakest link. I just, I'm confused why you guys felt like you had
37:53to push as far as you did. We decided to create things that are quintessentially us, but we did not
38:01keep you in mind. Now, that's what I'm all about. These big, beautiful, like, all inspiring moments.
38:07But I feel like there is a time and a place. When I saw your look walk out, I was just like,
38:13the cervix is dilated and she's crowning. That is exactly what it is.
38:20That's what it is. It's true. I have a bottle opener at home that looks just like it for my beer.
38:25Blonk. Let's see the back, please. No, that's bad too.
38:30Oh. I think you let the drag persona take over this week. And I think you should have
38:38held her back because this is too over the top. It doesn't make sense. It's not beautiful. It's not
38:43flattering. I am actually really disappointed in you. I'm in shock, actually, that it's you.
38:49It's difficult being up here, being knocked down by the judges and my team. It does not feel good.
38:58I am really pissed off about this collection. I did not come to work and get this beautiful glam
39:04to look at a bunch of ugly clothes. I'm sorry. I am pissed off. I'm mad.
39:09Oh, sorry. Okay. Utica, Joan, Angelo. We have to discuss what we've heard. And sadly,
39:21one of you will be out. You can leave the runway. Thank you. Thank you.
39:26Gee. That's terrible. And it really pissed me off.
39:29It's like a Project Runway denim costume party. Yes.
39:32You know, it doesn't feel good being on the bottom because it wasn't me designing truly from who I am
39:41and my design aesthetic and now being, you know, criticized for that. They thought it was the
39:46ugliest thing they've ever seen in their lives, but it's okay. What I don't like is that Ethan
39:52thought too much about himself. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Because our eyes popped out of our heads when we saw
39:58Utica standing next to this look. I'm sorry. Ethan should have been here and not Utica tonight,
40:02babe. Right. I thought Angelo was the worst, to be quite honest. There was no real construction.
40:07He made a great jacket because he makes menswear, but the jacket was just okay. He plays safer,
40:14so he didn't make it as crazy. And that's why we were more drawn to say this one is better,
40:19but it wasn't better. It wasn't better. He's been here before, so we have to take that into account.
40:25I'm on the bottom again. It sucks because I didn't get a chance yet to really go full force and show
40:32my best ability. I'm not ready to go home. What about Joan? Joan, that dress. Some less offensive. The
40:39less offensive out of the three. But no one would really wear that outfit. I am feeling very frustrated.
40:46My hands were tied. This is not what I wanted to do. I have so much more to show. I am not ready to go
40:53home. I'm just getting warmed up. For me, it boils down to, do we send home the person that took
41:01leadership in the bag collection? And made the worst look? Or send home the person that had the least
41:09amount of point of view and sewing talent? If we didn't know who did this and the designer was not
41:16standing next to the look, who would go? I think they can all go. Same.
41:23This would be a first for Project Runway, but maybe it's time we do it.
41:29Next time on Project Runway, from Abbott Elementary, Chris Perfetti and Lisa Ann Walter,
41:35this is the Unconventional Materials Challenge. A fight's breaking out. Fight, fight, fight. Hey,
41:41hey, hey, hey, what are you doing? Okay, she's Barbie, but the pink bench done. I told you they're
41:45working together again. It's annoying. Oh my god. Popsicle dress? Oh, uh, it's something. I mean,
41:53the whole booty is out. It just looks so sad. It looks like dead vegetation. This is so up.
42:00Hello.
42:05Trisha!
42:07Hello.
42:09Wow. Are we feeling good? I don't see a lot done at all.
42:14We're just starting. I keep it fresh.
42:19So what are you doing? I wanted to do a powerful coat. This kind of like,
42:23the idea of the Catalina flower and moving it into the waist. Yeah, I mean, this coat, if this is it,
42:28Yeah. Has to be. Yes. Perfect.
42:34So everybody was doing kind of a dress bodice type of thing, and I said, let me step out
42:38and do pants that's tailored. This is so dynamic as a pant. Oh my god, I know.
42:43I'm screaming. Groundbreaking. Honestly, I've never seen a pant more interesting in my entire career.
42:50I know how to rework a boring uniform into something cool since I have dyslexia. This is how my process
42:58works. Dyslexia switches the letters around. So I had to learn early to see disorganization or see
43:04confusion and make it make sense. So Christian, chill, baby. I got this. Okay.
43:11So on the collection, I'm going to go at the end. This is a finale moment. A finale moment. I'm
43:16designing a beautiful mermaid gown incorporating the Catalina flower. I want to be on top. I want
43:21Law to tell me what he told my brother. You shut me up. You shut me up. You've got to make sure that
43:27this silhouette is just really interesting. Noted. BJ, you're making a pencil dress again. What happens
43:35on our hips? Do they open? Yes. Oh yeah. Yeah. So this is skin? Yes. Wow. Okay. I saw this fabric
43:44and was thinking like, dolman sleeve and then an open back here. It's very chic and classic. Yeah. But
43:51I don't think it's that exciting. I'm going to do this most sick high-waisted pant and it's going to
44:01have a window. How is this standing up? I am a master of boning. Yeah.
44:09Boning is under structure that helps garments have shape to make them larger than life. If you can
44:15master boning, you can make any garment submissive to your whim. It's my first time to use boning,
44:22to be honest. First time to use boning ever? Yep. Yep. Okay. This is my design. I was trying to make this
44:28storm dress. So if it doesn't work, it won't work. It was going down. I'm just saying.
44:35What are you making? I got the pencil skirt that's going to go underneath and I'm playing with this
44:39shape. Is this your vibe? Switching it up. I don't want you to take on something that you really don't
44:45do and isn't your aesthetic. Yep. I kind of agree with him, but at the same time, I wanted to stick to my
44:51ground and not create another pant. I feel like if I execute that, it's enough to make it to the next week.
44:57Okay, Joan. What is all that? Fringe? Oh God.
45:05I just think that's just not that interesting. It's been done literally 100 million thousand times.
45:12From Britney to Steven Tyler to every project runway designer that's ever been in this
45:17competition has done a frayed edge denim dress. Oh no.
45:20Does it feel good, Mr. Christian? What are we supposed to do? Like take all of it off and put
45:28nothing on the runway? Like, I don't have time or the bandwidth to pivot.
45:32So you've got to make it the best fringe seamed edge thing you've ever seen. You have a lot to do.
45:39Good luck.
45:40I'm shook. I'm shook.
45:42All right. Battle of the houses. It's truly a battle. I still think a lot needs to happen
45:48before these collections because
