00:00Previously on Project Runway...
00:02This is the unconventional materials challenge.
00:07Hey, hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?
00:09A fight's breaking out. Fight!
00:11This is all mine.
00:12Jesus is a little bit bitchy.
00:15Joan, that glitter paper and popsicle dicks.
00:18Are you serious?
00:20I'm really far behind.
00:21There's just one small thing.
00:24The Runway show is happening in the workroom.
00:28This is the first ever in Project Runway history.
00:30What?
00:31This is creativity overload.
00:33Well, Yuchen, congratulations.
00:35You did a nice job.
00:36Now, what did not make the winning grade?
00:37Joseph.
00:38Ms. Jones.
00:39Antonio.
00:40The decision of which designer is going to be out
00:43will be made by all of you.
00:46A twist!
00:47No.
00:48I love everybody, but we have to make the decisions.
00:51Ms. Jones is the worst.
00:52I am not ready to go home.
00:54You have not seen what I can do as a designer.
00:57Joseph.
00:58That circus skirt's an insult.
01:00You look at Joseph McCray, you see Joseph McCray.
01:02Of course, I'm not going to take Antonio out.
01:04I'm not voting for Joseph. I'm just not.
01:06Splitting up the twins would be so gaggy.
01:09I think I know what to do.
01:13A stake for the winner is $200,000,
01:16a spread in Elle magazine,
01:18and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:21This is Project Runway.
01:22This is Project Runway.
01:31Wow, wow, wow.
01:33Okay, guys, let's vote.
01:35I feel bad for them.
01:37I'd rather be here than making that decision.
01:39I'm so shocked that we need to vote out the designer for this challenge.
01:45This is the Project Runway first.
01:47It's really hard because it feels like you're crushing someone's dreams
01:52and there's blood in your hands.
01:55But it's Project Runway.
01:57One day you're in and the next day you're out.
01:59All right, designers.
02:00Can you guys gather in your votes and bring them over to me?
02:13This is everybody.
02:14I'm a little nervous that these designers are going to vote me off
02:18just to separate my brother and I.
02:20We're powerful together,
02:21and they will send their biggest threat home.
02:23Joseph, Joan, Antonio.
02:26Two of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
02:31The first vote is for Joseph McCray.
02:37The second vote is for Miss Jo.
02:43I don't want to go home on a design that didn't speak to who I was as a designer.
02:48I hope the other designers keep me in the competition.
02:52The third vote is for Joseph McCray.
02:57Child, do not play.
03:00So that's two votes for Joseph and another one and you'll be out, okay?
03:05Oh, my God.
03:06I guess this is when the true competition shows,
03:08because do they feel like my look is the worst,
03:11or is it because I could be the most threat in this competition?
03:15The fourth vote is for Antonio.
03:22My brother might be going home right now and I'm freaking out.
03:26The next vote is for...
03:31Joseph McCray.
03:34Daddy.
03:35Oh, he's going home.
03:37No.
03:39I'm so sorry, Joseph.
03:40So that means you're out.
03:42I don't know if the vote was strategic, but if it was a game that they wanted to play, I guess the game has been played, so...
03:52It was such a pleasure working with you. I think you're incredibly talented.
03:57I know who you are.
03:58Yeah.
03:59I can't wait to see more of your clothes.
04:00You will.
04:01I know.
04:02I'm really sad to have my best friend in the competition leave, and I wish that I had stood up a little bit more for Joseph.
04:09I don't know that I could have swayed four people.
04:12Bye, everyone. No problem. I love you, too.
04:18As much as I didn't want to go home, listen, don't worry about me, because baby, I'm about to be famous.
04:24Still iconic bitch. Don't forget. And that's a wrap. Later, loves.
04:31Bye.
04:33Bye.
04:34Say goodbye to love.
04:35Bye, love.
04:37Thank you, guys. Thanks for saving me.
04:39How are you guys feeling?
04:41That was definitely a curveball, and I think we're just, like, all full of emotions.
04:46Mylon, you're very shaken up.
04:48I'm angry.
04:51Why?
04:52You have to make tough decisions in this business.
04:54No, I know. Not like that, though.
04:56I don't think it has to be that personal.
04:58It's hard. Trust me. I've been there. I get it.
05:02But it's a competition, and only one of you wins.
05:05Yeah.
05:06Everyone's going home at some point.
05:08It's designed to survive.
05:11And we're going to go into your next challenge now.
05:18This competition is challenge, runway, one-day challenge, sewing, runway, club, challenge, no time, no sleep.
05:31Gaga would not be proud.
05:33Fashion takes inspiration from all kinds of things.
05:36Art, music, even the unconventional.
05:39So for your next challenge, you'll be creating a runway-worthy version of your unconventional materials look.
05:50Completely made out of fabric.
05:53Runway version.
05:54I know not to use denim.
05:56Wow.
05:59If I had the energy to scream, I'd probably be screaming quite a bit.
06:03I didn't love the look that I made.
06:05And it can't just be a story.
06:07Visual, meaningful, they have to connect.
06:10Because both looks are going to walk down the runway together.
06:14Wow.
06:16Oh my God.
06:17Damn.
06:18Good to see you.
06:19Wow.
06:20Head home tonight, do some sketching, get some rest, and then I will meet you at Mood in the morning.
06:25Thank you, Chris.
06:26Good night.
06:27Thank you so much.
06:28Bye.
06:29Bye.
06:30For the next challenge, I'm really going to step my up because I want to prove to the judges that I am an amazing designer and stylist.
06:38I think the only complaint in my life is a roach.
06:40So we got to fix that.
06:42Let me get that cardio.
06:45Yeah.
06:46Speed it on.
06:47Never take a slow.
06:48Get in the zone.
06:50Friction pens are amazing.
06:52Who would have thought that you can erase a pen?
06:55Guys, that was rough.
06:57Ms. Joan, how do you feel?
06:59You're back for another week.
07:00Yeah.
07:01Just need to process everything.
07:02Yeah.
07:03I'm going to put Joan on the runway.
07:05Oh my God.
07:06This is a great opportunity to show your other side.
07:08As a tailor.
07:09I've been tailoring for over 20 years.
07:12This is what I do.
07:13I can tailor a suit.
07:15So this is my opportunity to bring it.
07:18Look, that's sick.
07:19I don't even sketch.
07:21Jesus, usually I would tell him what to sketch for me.
07:24I'm jealous of you guys for having brothers because if I have my brother here.
07:28I think it's an advantage.
07:29No, it's a huge advantage.
07:30It's a huge advantage.
07:31Because they're going to, no matter what, help one another.
07:34The last challenge was the first individual challenge.
07:37But the twins are still working together.
07:40If that is what it takes to win for y'all, awesome.
07:44But I'm able to eat it up without having family in the room.
07:47Although I have a question.
07:48Do you think both of you can do one challenge where you're completely separate?
07:54Because you're used to be like working each other.
07:56Yeah.
07:57So maybe for this challenge, like just challenge yourself.
08:00Let's not help each other and let's see what's going to happen.
08:03I think that BJ's smart.
08:05She knows how to play the game.
08:08What's going to be the outcome?
08:10Are you up for the challenge?
08:12As an individual designer, I know I can do it.
08:15I know I'm talented.
08:16I know I'm good.
08:17Let's shut this bitch up.
08:18Let's prove to them this challenge.
08:20Yeah.
08:21I'm excited if they can actually do it.
08:24We will see.
08:25Done.
08:26So that's completely solo challenge.
08:29BJ, over my dead body that you think you're going to separate Antonio and I.
08:35So now it's on.
08:45All right.
08:46Remember this challenge.
08:47Runway worthy version to kind of compliment your unconventional look.
08:5230 minutes, $350.
08:54Okay, go.
08:55Here we go.
08:56Right now.
08:57Ah!
09:02Just take a half yard off and then I can get that.
09:05Keep looking.
09:06You just started.
09:07Put that backpack down and dig through these roles.
09:09All right.
09:10Oh, we need pins, bitch.
09:11Get two boxes.
09:12Of course.
09:13The twins are shopping together.
09:16I am so shocked.
09:19The happy twins.
09:20Going gray again.
09:21Mm-hmm.
09:22Boring.
09:23I'm capable of a lot more than when I put down the runway in the last challenge.
09:27However, to turn something that I hated into something that I like is going to take some real work.
09:35You don't want anything iridescent-y?
09:37I think that that's pretty iridescent and I'm going to do stuff to it.
09:41My confidant, my best friend here, Joseph McRae, has left.
09:45So I'm definitely feeling that loss.
09:47And I need a solid amount of time to sit with what happened, but I don't have time to do that.
09:54Designer.
09:55Designer.
09:56Designer.
09:57Designer.
09:58Oh, this looks like rotten in here.
10:01Oh, it's Miss Joan's dress.
10:03I don't want to see that.
10:05Last challenge, I was so far in the bottom that they had to dig me out the dirt.
10:10It looks like dead vegetation.
10:12Just throw her in a compost.
10:15I have to take inspiration from it.
10:17I'm going to try and redeem myself.
10:19So I'm going to have to show Laura who I am as a designer.
10:23Leave it all on the runway.
10:25I really don't want to look at this all day.
10:27Shove the edge in the corner.
10:29No one puts Baby in a corner.
10:32However, I need her gone.
10:35One, two, three, four.
10:37Hello.
10:38Hello.
10:39Hey.
10:40Oh, is that the crotch?
10:45It's a banana hammock.
10:46Oh.
10:47Wow.
10:48I want to create a cocoon outer shell gown that reveals into like a J-Lo butterfly sexy moment.
10:57Oh my God, but you have so much to make.
10:59Just two pieces.
11:00Okay.
11:01You can't have her whole butt out though like that.
11:04I want about this much crap.
11:08How are they going to connect visually in some way?
11:10I think because these are triangular.
11:12They're going to be covering the whole thing.
11:16Am I hurting your ears?
11:17Yes.
11:18All right, I'll stop.
11:19You can wait.
11:20I didn't love the look that I made last week.
11:22That's not me.
11:23So I'm making these hard kind of sharp edges into something more soft.
11:29She's going to be feathery.
11:30She's going to be bird-like.
11:32She's going to be awesome.
11:33It's happening over here.
11:34I want to keep that same silhouette where it's see-through and sexy.
11:37Mm-hmm.
11:38So I want to do a cigarette pant with a corset.
11:41Your corset top needs to be incredible.
11:43It's going to fit well.
11:44Make sure.
11:45I'm trying it right now.
11:46I'm pretty fast.
11:47Okay.
11:48Last challenge.
11:49I almost got voted off, but I'm here for another week and I'm going to set myself apart from the other designers and my brother.
11:54I want to stand out.
11:55I already do because I'm gorgeous.
11:57Perfection.
11:58Okay.
11:59I can figure this out.
12:01The look was very rock and cool.
12:04Yeah, that's what I wanted.
12:05But you're doing like an evening gown.
12:07So it's like, how do you make that feel like edgy?
12:09I wanted to utilize the red instead of doing a front lapel to incorporate a back lapel.
12:15I mean, you have to have the red.
12:16Yeah, of course.
12:17In some way to visually connect.
12:18Of course.
12:19So it's a gown, right?
12:20Yes.
12:21This is very street wear, very I'm going to a bashment party.
12:24Uh-huh.
12:25You know?
12:26Yep.
12:27And this is very I'm stepping on the runway.
12:28I've never made a dress specifically like this before, but I want to showcase my skills as far as gown making goes for a curvier woman.
12:39It's a flag dress.
12:40When I think of soccer, I think of World Cup.
12:42All these countries, it's exciting.
12:45My idea is to make this black and white soccer ball bomber jacket with this big flag dress that celebrates the energy of a soccer stadium.
12:54Edit the colors like you edited those colors.
12:56Yeah.
12:57Remember, visually connected.
12:58Yeah.
12:59Wow.
13:00That looks pretty.
13:01For this one, I want the boning to be outside.
13:04Yeah.
13:05I really want to make another structure using the boning.
13:10It's a very meticulous process because boning is something that you need to hand sew.
13:15But I haven't worn yet and I want the judges to see my impeccable craftsmanship in all the things that I do.
13:22This is my power.
13:23My hands.
13:24Wow.
13:25This is a beautifully cut suit.
13:27Yeah.
13:28Clearly you can make clothes.
13:29So I get that you want to do this beautiful, amazing suit, but I think the connection will still be important, you know?
13:35And that's why I'm trying to still keep the connectivity with the corset tree.
13:39With the corset tree.
13:40I was even thinking of taking the popsicle sticks.
13:43If you do that, I quit right now.
13:46Child!
13:47I just want them to see something here that they didn't see there.
13:53You know, Law really didn't like this dress.
13:56You gotta prove them wrong.
13:57Okay.
13:58Lord have mercy.
13:59Everyone is a little worried about me, you know, but I got this.
14:03I'm a fighter.
14:04I've been through the hardest fight of my life.
14:09Back in 2020, I made it onto the cast of Project Runway for the first time.
14:15But I also found out that I had breast cancer and I needed to start treatment immediately.
14:23My biggest fear is during that time is, am I going to be strong enough to fight and beat this thing?
14:30But let me tell you, I rang that bell and Mama Joan is four years cancer free.
14:39This is more than just a competition for me.
14:42This is a full circle moment.
14:45To win Project Runway would be such a validation.
14:50I want to show that I can be an inspiration to so many women out there that there is life after, you know, being diagnosed.
14:59Oh, I'm like a walking zombie right now.
15:21I think the one day challenges are definitely starting to take a toll because like there is no time to rest.
15:27Like I'm not even like, to be honest, like even inspired to do this.
15:39Seeing my brother, they're going through all the emotions.
15:41That's not usually his persona.
15:43He's usually stronger than I am.
15:47I'm really concerned because I want him to still be in the competition.
15:54No, no, no.
15:57I don't even want to do it.
15:59To be honest.
16:00It's a lot.
16:01Should we go home?
16:02No.
16:03Come on.
16:04I'm really sorry that Jesus is struggling, but so am I.
16:09Like I wish I have my best friend here so that I have someone that I can lean on to.
16:13But you know, I have to do it on my own.
16:15Someone needs to take that sense of comfort from them so that they can realize that this is a competition.
16:22I see everybody keeping an eye on us.
16:24All them bitches want to separate us.
16:26He's my twin brother.
16:27So if you with my brother, then you're going to have two enemies.
16:30You get a model.
16:31You get a model.
16:32You get a model.
16:33Baby.
16:34Let's do it.
16:35I made it a little bit big.
16:36Is it asymmetrical this top?
16:37Yeah.
16:38Well, it looks kind of like a little bit like a mistake because it's like not enough.
16:43I think you still have to figure out this under structure.
16:45Yeah.
16:46For me, I don't, it doesn't look like anything.
16:48You all right?
16:49I'm just.
16:50You're just so tired.
16:51You're beat down.
16:52You're done.
16:53It's a lot.
16:54It's a lot.
16:55Suck it up.
16:56You've already been here before.
16:57Don't worry.
16:58You're fine.
16:59It looks fabulous.
17:00Get it together.
17:01Yeah.
17:02It's going to be cool.
17:03I like it with just one side.
17:05I do too.
17:06It's kind of fab.
17:07I'm really grateful to have Christian.
17:09I think he sees a vision.
17:10I think he likes my work.
17:11And that just really helps me.
17:13I'm really grateful to have Christian.
17:15I think he likes my work and that just really truly gives me strength.
17:19I'm ready to show the judges exactly what I am made of.
17:26That red stripe on Jesus' gown is looking pretty familiar.
17:32What the ?
17:33Here we go.
17:34I've been working primarily on the outer part.
17:37So I have a lot of finessing to do.
17:39Are you realizing that this doesn't work?
17:41It needs a lot of fishing.
17:43So what are you going to do?
17:45Okay.
17:46Let's try on the other dress.
17:47The dress underneath is not good.
17:49Do you think I should scrap the whole reveal?
17:51I think you have to scrap one of them.
17:52Yes.
17:53That's what I'm saying.
17:54Then you still have one look.
17:56You got to try something.
17:58I think the shoulders could still be more.
18:00Yeah.
18:01This is the only one that I love, but I think I can elaborate it more.
18:04Hand sewing is a major component to execute that design.
18:08And I don't have a lot of time left, but I've applied to be in the show since 2012.
18:14I've waited for 13 years.
18:16And now that I'm here, I'm not going to waste any opportunity to show the judges what I can do.
18:23You just dislike it.
18:25This looks really messy.
18:27The frayed edges on this looks very amateur.
18:32Okay.
18:33I really don't want this amateur tag to be put on me.
18:37That's a fear of mine because I taught myself for the most part.
18:41So my construction skills are sometimes behind other people.
18:45I got to figure it out.
18:47Maybe the organza looks a little more refined and beautiful and soft.
18:52And maybe it's that all over in diamond shape.
18:55Yeah, that's helpful.
18:56I'm going for soft, feathery, maybe like a snowy egret.
19:00But I'm seeing a dirty, dirty little pigeon.
19:04That's it, designers.
19:06I'm in trouble.
19:07Say goodbye to your models.
19:08Oh, God.
19:09Oh, I haven't had to pivot this hard at all this competition.
19:18Two dresses is too much.
19:21So the JLo dress is dead.
19:24I'm going to take this cocoon and make an extensive alteration.
19:28Okay, guys, one hour.
19:31I want my brother here to help me.
19:37They're both really talented.
19:39So am I jealous?
19:41Yes.
19:42And like, I want that.
19:44I have to redo my sleeves because they're ugly.
19:49I have to make the entire skirt.
19:51I'm feeling like this is deeply, deeply undoable.
20:00Good morning, designers.
20:01We have a show to do.
20:03Fashion superheroes, here we come.
20:05Baby.
20:06Be aggressive.
20:07Be aggressive.
20:08Be aggressive.
20:09Be aggressive.
20:10Be aggressive.
20:11Be aggressive.
20:12Be aggressive.
20:13Hey.
20:14That's cold.
20:15Nip's out.
20:18Hello.
20:19Hello.
20:20Oh, God.
20:21Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.
20:22Yes.
20:23Emily's called in sick.
20:25So what we are thinking of doing is if we can move Shanae over to this look and we'll use the alt model for your episode four looks.
20:33Oh, she's a lot smaller.
20:36Oh, dear God.
20:38Oh, my brain is frying.
20:41I made my dress to fit my size 20 model like a glove.
20:46What are you saying to me right now?
20:48I have three hours to make this size 20 into the size 14, 12.
20:53I don't even know where to start right now.
20:55Model.
20:56Model.
20:57Model.
20:58Side boot is showing.
20:59Yes.
21:00We're going to cover for boobies.
21:01I had to find another way to use the black sheer.
21:04So I think having a little bit of sexy side boot moment and the scarf will be a little nod to the original piece.
21:11How are you guys doing?
21:12Good.
21:13How are you doing?
21:14Clania, how's it going?
21:16My hand stopped shaking.
21:17I can sew.
21:18You can do it.
21:19I don't know.
21:20It's beautiful.
21:22Gorgeous.
21:23Thank you for that advice.
21:24What would I do without you in my life?
21:26You're starting to make me have a crush on you.
21:28Everybody has a crush on me.
21:29Hello.
21:32What is that little thong?
21:33What in the world?
21:34Marina, I made you a floss.
21:36I am a Latina hooker.
21:38A sexy hooshie mama.
21:40Not everyone can make a thong.
21:41I know it's just a little strange.
21:42But you got to get the right measurements because you don't want to see a camel toe with the floss.
21:47I don't know what that is.
21:49Joe cannot handle the thongs in the room.
21:53To me, a thong is not a fashion moment.
21:57Okay?
21:58That is underwear.
22:00VJ and his designers are trying to separate Antonio and I.
22:04Well, maybe you two do need to separate.
22:06You're working on his garment right now.
22:08I'm going to separate you two.
22:10And then we'll see who wins.
22:12Bitch.
22:13Mm-mm.
22:14Ciao.
22:15See?
22:16Even Christian thought he said.
22:18What did he say?
22:20He didn't separate us.
22:21She's a little jealous.
22:22Oh, my God.
22:23All right, designers.
22:24We're sending your model to the Ulta Beauty salon.
22:27The divas.
22:28I need to see what's going on in Glam.
22:30Okay, so let me see.
22:32Don't get crazy.
22:33I'm not.
22:34How are you feeling about it so far?
22:35You're the best, so I trust you.
22:36Oh, my God.
22:37We do this every day.
22:38You know what?
22:39Every Ulta Beauty has a salon that you can walk into and have a consultation with a hair stylist or makeup artist to make your vision come to life.
22:44We do the same day out, so don't even worry.
22:46We're going to make it happen for you.
22:47Perfect.
22:48I love Ulta Beauty.
22:49You guys are the best.
22:50Okay.
22:51Oh, my God.
22:52It's done?
22:53No, it's not done yet.
22:54My hands are really, really tired.
22:59I will add more here.
23:01Are you?
23:02Yeah.
23:03I'm scared if I can really finish it on time.
23:05Yeah, you have like an hour.
23:07Mia, can you come here?
23:09God damn it.
23:10Are you finished?
23:11Yeah.
23:12Do you need help some?
23:13Um, just stock this one.
23:14Okay.
23:15After that, I'm finished.
23:16Thank you so much.
23:19BJ, really?
23:20She gives me and my brother such a hard time because we help each other.
23:23But when she needs help, it's fine.
23:27Miss Madeline, how's your skirt?
23:28My goal was to get it done by the time the models got here.
23:31I am really far behind.
23:32Not you shuffling around.
23:33No.
23:34There's never enough time.
23:36At this point, like, I know I'm gonna hate this look.
23:39What the hell?
23:40But I just need it to be closed.
23:43All right, we're walking in 30 seconds, you guys.
23:50Yay.
23:51Hello, designers.
23:53Welcome to the runway.
23:54As I say in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
23:58For this challenge, you were asked to create a look inspired by your hair.
24:02Unconventional materials design, but made completely out of fabric.
24:06The connection between the two must be visual and meaningful.
24:10All right, let's meet the judges.
24:12CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Laura Roach.
24:19Editor of Elle Magazine, Nina Garcia.
24:24And our guest judge for today, fashion designer and business titan, Jenna Lyons.
24:29Woo!
24:30Nice job.
24:33All right, let's start the show.
24:42My looks looks very cohesive together.
24:44The bomber jacket looks so sexy, so hot, so modern, and the dress is cool.
24:50It's just so amazing.
24:52I feel so good.
24:53Super creative.
24:54Like a superhero.
24:56But this, it still looks unconventional to me.
25:05I'm so nervous, but at the same time, I'm very, very excited and proud of myself.
25:11It's a representation of who I am as a designer.
25:14You can tell immediately that these two looks are labor of love.
25:21It's like there's an actual inspiration here.
25:23I'm not proud of what I put down today.
25:35It's not my best work.
25:36And I'm feeling like I don't want to watch this runway.
25:48I feel good.
25:49It doesn't look absolutely haphazard and crazy.
25:51It looks presentable.
25:52How did you get it to fit her that well?
25:55You see my fingers bleeding?
25:57The construction isn't bad.
25:58The dress is just ugly.
26:08This is exactly what my vision was.
26:11She is working it.
26:12She's feeling herself.
26:14She feels glamorous.
26:15She feels like a fashion icon.
26:17She feels like a rock star.
26:19Wow.
26:21It's interesting.
26:22Katie.
26:23I'm so excited because I think I nailed the challenge.
26:26They both look cohesive.
26:30I don't think my unconventional garment was that bad,
26:34but definitely this is an elevated version of that.
26:38The previous critiques lit a fire under my tail for me to show them what I got.
26:47Wow.
26:49I'm so excited for no less.
26:52Girl.
26:53Anastasia is making this a moment.
26:56The fashion fabric being so close to the original is cohesion.
27:01So I did my job.
27:03Hey.
27:04I'm proud of my little butterflies and they're flying so, so high.
27:07Yee-hee-hee.
27:08Wow.
27:09I'm seeing my blonde Barbie walk down the runway.
27:10It's so sexy.
27:11The magic word again is cohesion.
27:12She looks so good in that.
27:13Hmm.
27:14I can taste the wind on the tip of my tongue that I've been waiting for.
27:15Hello.
27:16There were some really good looks you turned out.
27:17Obviously we're judging you by your second look, not your unconventional materials look.
27:22We've scored your designs.
27:23Let's find out the results.
27:24Yujin.
27:25Yujin.
27:26Yujin.
27:27Joan.
27:28The two of you are safe.
27:30Jean.
27:31I know I was so happy.
27:32I know you know I was too happy with my and I was so happy to make me sit on it.
27:35This was lovely.
27:36Well, you know, I was so happy to have made my day.
27:37You were so happy.
27:38Right.
27:39And I'm so happy to have the guys.
27:40I was happy to have you all to work with my Celine and I was happy to make my day's
27:41bed.
27:42It's so happy to be a long life, we're so happy to have you.
27:43Hello.
27:44There were some really good looks you turned out.
27:45Obviously we're judging you by your second look, not your unconventional materials look.
27:46We've scored your designs.
27:47Let's find out the results.
27:49Yujin.
27:50Ioan.
27:51Joan.
27:52The two of you are safe.
27:54Joan.
27:55The two of you are safe.
27:57Joan, I know I was extremely critical on you
28:01about your unconventional look,
28:03but you redeemed yourself.
28:06Ethan, BJ, Jesus.
28:12You had our favorite looks on the runway today.
28:14Congratulations.
28:18Unfortunately, that means Antonio, Madeline, and Bologna.
28:24You had our least favorite looks today.
28:28You guys can leave with the safe designers.
28:31I'm not surprised, but I'm praying, wishing,
28:34manifesting that I don't go home.
28:40Yeah.
28:42Guess who's back.
28:43I know, right?
28:44Back again.
28:46Let's bring out your models.
28:47Oh, my God.
28:50All right, Jesus, let's start with you.
28:52OK.
28:52I loved your looks.
28:53Thank you so much.
28:54It's stunning.
28:55I mean, how you made this, too, that you can sew
28:58like this impeccably is like crazy, you know?
29:00Yeah.
29:01It is so chic.
29:02I love the exaggerated hips.
29:04And that red strip down the back.
29:06As a stylist, I'm thinking, what does it look 360?
29:09You know, when they call it to the stylist,
29:11over the shoulder.
29:12This dress could be on any runway in Paris.
29:16Yeah.
29:17This is really, really, really, really, really well done.
29:19I'm always thinking of what Law like in my life.
29:22Law likes it.
29:23So you did a good job.
29:24So much.
29:25The dress is beautiful.
29:26The shape is beautiful.
29:28But when I saw the red stripe, I was convinced
29:32that this was Ethan's look.
29:34Yeah.
29:35I thought so, too.
29:35Ethan did that same stripe on the sportswear look.
29:40I mean, called plagiarism in my book.
29:42Yeah, it's a little.
29:43It's a little bit.
29:44It's a little bit.
29:45Plagiarism.
29:46It's a little bit.
29:46I'm just saying.
29:48Oh, my god.
29:54Ethan did that same stripe.
29:57Wow, Nina.
29:58Just because there's a red stripe and Ethan did that
30:01for a feature, like, to me, like, I saw no resemblance.
30:04Like, I feel like I did it in a different way.
30:06And, like, I didn't even think of that.
30:08I think they inspire each other a lot.
30:10I am all for inspiration, but why this particular fabric?
30:15I mean, that was never my intention.
30:17That didn't even cross my mind.
30:18I picked the red just to reference from the mini dress.
30:22Plagiarism is a little harsh.
30:24But for Nina to have such an impact from my piece,
30:29I think, is an honor.
30:30So sorry, Jesus, but if I own a red stripe now,
30:37maybe let me keep it.
30:38I don't have any history here, so I'm
30:39all for the red stripe.
30:40I loved it.
30:41The shape of the duchess satin and the way
30:42it wraps around her.
30:44Beautifully done.
30:45Thank you, Jesus.
30:47BJ?
30:48If you see what you can make out of a shuttlecock,
30:50it's quite amazing.
30:53Every time she says shuttlecock, I was watching that.
30:56OK, everyone says shuttlecock.
30:58Shuttlecock.
30:59Shuttlecock.
30:59Shuttlecock.
31:00I love shuttlecock for you.
31:01We'll never forget that.
31:03We'll never forget it now.
31:04The fabric that you chose, it's the same feeling of what
31:07the shuttlecock is giving us.
31:09And also what you gave here.
31:11Like, you always want to have a lot of interest, you know,
31:13around your cleavage and everything,
31:15and it's giving all of that.
31:16It's fragile, but strong, unexpected, really marvelous.
31:23The transparency, the tailoring, everything
31:26was really smart.
31:28Yes.
31:28I mean, it's the most perfect side boob I've ever seen.
31:31Jumpsuits are hard to fit.
31:32It's just, I think it's spot on.
31:34Thank you so much.
31:35Ethan, you're next.
31:37What did you stuff into the hips?
31:39What did you put in there?
31:40It's batting.
31:42Ethan is the drag queen, so he knows how to pad a hip.
31:44Oh.
31:45Right?
31:45So that, he brought that in his little toolbox, you know?
31:48Yeah.
31:50I think the dress is spectacular.
31:52I have to say, I'm kind of obsessed with it.
31:54I think the tailoring is great.
31:55I think you worked that dress like nobody's business.
31:57And the way that the shapes looked behind the screen
32:00when she came out, it was just fantasmical and really
32:03stunning, and I'm captivated by it.
32:05Can I see her without the?
32:09I mean, this is all you need.
32:13You didn't need the reveal.
32:15That's it.
32:16Can we just talk about the boobs when you see them on the side?
32:18I love it.
32:18I love those little cups that are poking out
32:20and giving that fabric.
32:22It's so cute.
32:23That little detail is so powerful.
32:26That's your reveal right there.
32:28You've got to understand to edit.
32:31All right, Ethan, BJ, Jesus.
32:35It's time to name the winner.
32:39Congratulations, BJ.
32:41Oh, my God.
32:43Good job, baby.
32:45You created our favorite look.
32:47Congrats.
32:48How does it feel?
32:49To be here and to be speechless.
32:52I'm just happy.
32:53I cry when I'm happy.
32:54So yeah, this is Tears of Joy.
32:57You earned it.
32:58You absolutely earned it.
32:59Really beautiful.
33:00Yeah.
33:01Winning this challenge makes me feel a reward for all the things
33:06that I've done to create those two looks.
33:08And I'm just really thankful that the judges appreciate my work.
33:12We have a winner.
33:13Yay!
33:14Yay!
33:15Yay!
33:16I knew it.
33:17I knew it.
33:19Winning this gives me the assurance that if I work hard and be
33:25innovative, then I can win this whole thing.
33:28OK, let's bring out the bottom looks.
33:34Oy vey.
33:36Antonio, Madeleine, Belania.
33:39Unfortunately, you were all these favorites today.
33:42Let's bring out your models.
33:45Oy, oy, oy.
33:48Oh, my god.
33:50All right, Belania.
33:50I'm just so confused by what you've done.
33:53I look at you, and I see a young, clued in, fashion-forward,
33:57modern, young woman.
33:59And then I see what you created today.
34:01And to me, this looks like a real old-fashioned look.
34:04You are supposed to create for tomorrow.
34:08The fabric looks cheap.
34:11Jersey fabric or something else in another color, this might be acceptable and might be OK.
34:17But with these colors and this fabric, this is not winning anything around here, though.
34:21I've seen this dress, a corset with the ruffle bottom.
34:25And it's not my favorite.
34:27They're not twins, but they are sisters, Tacky and Jackie.
34:31And do you think this is a good dress?
34:33No.
34:33But today, my model called out sick.
34:36So I had to take in my dress by at least eight inches.
34:40That's not an excuse.
34:42Also, the model, and you had to take it in, that's the strong part.
34:46That's what you did well.
34:47I don't love the really chunky straps.
34:49I know that the person who you had originally put it on might have needed.
34:51Yeah, she was a size 20.
34:52I couldn't put certain styles on my model, so I said, OK, I will make a beautiful silhouette
34:58kind of dress.
34:59Had you presented that as a bathing suit and a sarong cover-up, I think it would have made
35:04more sense.
35:05Like putting her in shorts, her pants, or even a bathing suit, you guys probably would
35:08have gave me the same comment.
35:11What I don't understand is the body language and the attitude.
35:13Yeah, what is the attitude, Paula?
35:15So let's talk.
35:16Let's back up and let's start there.
35:18You want to say something, but your lips keep trying to not...
35:21Well, here's your chance.
35:23I'm just taken aback, because there's a lot that happens before you guys see it.
35:27But a lot happens before we see it every runway.
35:31What are these feelings?
35:32Because you're coming off really, really rude.
35:35Agreed.
35:36OK.
35:37He wants to fight.
35:41You're coming off really, really rude and dismissive.
35:45I'm trying to control my emotions because I was trying to make my model feel comfortable
35:54and beautiful.
35:55And is this model or the one that got sick?
35:57The one that got sick.
35:58OK.
35:59I also think you as a designer have to stay true to yourself.
36:01I don't really see you here.
36:02I think you should always stay true to yourself on what you think you would really want to
36:06create.
36:07I think that's really important.
36:09All right, Madeline.
36:10I don't see the cohesion.
36:12Here you have Space Girl in silver, shiny, flashy, and then you go to a somber, sad girl
36:18right next to her.
36:19Next door.
36:20It's like a whole different vibe I'm feeling from this.
36:22I actually like the way that you mimic the hard edges from your unconventional look.
36:28Just because you put some triangles onto the top doesn't make it cohesive for me.
36:34I really don't like the length of the skirt.
36:36The bottom of the skirt looks like a napkin.
36:39Like it's not enough strength.
36:41When you are presenting a runway, it's about the complete polished look.
36:47I think you're demure in your approach to your shapes.
36:50Like the skirt and the proportion of the top are almost the same.
36:53Can you raise the top?
36:55Yeah, like if it was tiny and the sleeve was tiny and it was a little bit of a crop top.
36:59I just think like you could have gone bigger and pushed that skirt and pushed that shape.
37:04It feels like you're holding back.
37:05Fair enough.
37:06Antonio.
37:07I actually was probably the only one that gave this a high score.
37:12I am.
37:13They all hated it.
37:14Tattletail.
37:15That's true.
37:16Got a treat.
37:17That's very true.
37:18They look like modern girls of today.
37:21I love that it's sheer.
37:22I love that you see her g-string through it.
37:24I love her wet hair.
37:26It's very now.
37:27We can talk about the top.
37:29Obviously, there's some fit issues here, but...
37:31The top is, what is the top?
37:33It's a belt.
37:34The top is...
37:35It's terrible.
37:36I don't know if it was intentionally asymmetrical, but it wasn't asymmetrical enough.
37:40So I couldn't tell if it was just twisted.
37:42It should have been.
37:43It could have been.
37:44It's not.
37:45I mean, just the wedge.
37:47I can't go...
37:48I can't.
37:49It's problematic.
37:50I'm not mad at it.
37:51I'm not mad at the pants.
37:52I don't think the pants are bad.
37:53I'm just saying when I see a wedge, my husband always loves a wedge.
37:56When I have jeans on that are like so tight that it's like, he thinks that's hot.
38:01It's like a really good stripper costume though.
38:04There is no reason you walk this girl out of here with these incredible glaring errors.
38:12I don't know.
38:13I don't know how you've made it this far.
38:15In terms of construction, there's a lot of problems here.
38:20I'm pissed.
38:21She got the nerve to say why I'm still in the competition.
38:25I feel attacked.
38:27Well, you got the judges really torn.
38:29That was very polarizing.
38:31Which is great.
38:32That's what fashion is about.
38:33I'm like, sorry.
38:34Madeline, Antonio, Balania, we have a lot to talk about.
38:39You can leave the runway.
38:40Thank you so much.
38:41Yeah.
38:42What did you hear?
38:43We haven't made the decision yet, right?
38:44No.
38:45Heidi loved my look.
38:46Nina hated it.
38:47She's like, I don't know how you've made it this far.
38:48I'm like, whoa.
38:49So, Madeline.
38:50To me, she's making sad clothes.
38:51You know what it is?
38:52It feels sad and poor.
38:53I don't see the cohesion.
38:54Like the first one, when it came out, I was like, okay.
38:56It had some pop and like some bands of like sparkle to it.
39:11You also could feel that the model was loving that too.
39:13It felt like somebody took the air out of it.
39:15Like, I'm not proud of what I put down today.
39:18I don't think it's representative of me as a designer.
39:22I don't want to be putting things out there that are confused and sad girl.
39:28I like Antonio.
39:29I feel like there's stuff in there.
39:31Nina hate it.
39:32I hate it.
39:33I've never saw her hate something so much.
39:35And look, I wrote like my favorite.
39:38No, that was your favorite.
39:40Guys, Antonio is a little bit of smoke and mirrors.
39:44But he was the least offensive of the three.
39:46I don't know if Antonio can really deliver.
39:49I feel like my design wasn't the worst.
39:52Based on the challenge, when you put your heart and soul and you work for over 14 hours,
39:58I don't feel like the judges are understanding.
40:00And it's getting to me.
40:02What do you guys think about Blania?
40:05I was so sad to find out that that was her look.
40:08She has this great personal style.
40:11You think that's great personal style?
40:14You know, she's very memorable.
40:16I think Blania got thrown off trying to make someone else happy as opposed to doing her own thing.
40:20And it feels like that kind of tripped her up maybe.
40:22I get a sense of personality from Blania.
40:24I think there's spark in there.
40:26She did have to like cinch that in a lot, Blania.
40:29No?
40:30That's what designers do.
40:31I know.
40:32But like last minute already they have prom dress.
40:33That's not an excuse.
40:34That's what designers do.
40:35It was Carmen Miranda without fruit on her head.
40:38It is a literal prom dress.
40:39Yeah.
40:4080s prom dress.
40:41Bad 80s prom dress.
40:42Yes.
40:43Ah, Blania.
40:44Why did you do this?
40:45I feel misunderstood because I tried to make something that I thought the judges wanted
40:50to see, but that was an epic fail.
40:53So if I stay in this competition, I am not listening to what anybody else has to say.
40:59I'm going to listen to myself.
41:02It's a toss.
41:03So who's the worst?
41:04It's a toss.
41:12Hi, hi, hi.
41:13Next time on Project Runway.
41:15For your next individual challenge, we're going straight.
41:18This is literally your challenge.
41:20Like, what are you doing?
41:21If I don't do this right, I will .
41:23Ethan.
41:24Come on.
41:26Let's put it on a monkey.
41:27Things are not working out as well as I thought they would.
41:30Get it together.
41:31Don't forget BJ's a silent killer, everyone.
41:34I've just focused on my work.
41:36The quiet ones turn around and stab you in the back.
41:40Jesus.
41:41He is really threatened by me.
41:43And I'm like, he should be.
41:45I want to applaud you for not doing something safe.
41:49Picture that girl walking down the street like stunt on hoes.
41:52You're not showing us anything new.
41:54It's too obvious.
41:55This is so far off from street wear.
41:57I almost want to like jump out the chair and beat you up for making this look.
