00:00It was a good day's work at Almondvale on Sunday for Hibs, a 2-0 win in their last 16 tie in the Premier Sports Cup against Livingston, and they will progress to a quarterfinal against Rangers.
00:15Six changes were made by head coach David Gray after Thursday's energy-sapping 4-3 aggregate win over Partizan Belgrade in the second leg of their Europa Conference League third-round qualifier, likes the Thibaut Clijet, new summer signing Miguel Chiwa, Alessandra Mane, Raphael Salinger, Canaio Megua amongst those getting the chance to play against David Martindale's side, and they were in control from minute one to 90.
00:43Thibaut Clijet opening the scoring in the first half with a nice flicked header. He was very impressive in the game, so was Miguel Chiwa from Young Boys.
00:52He has arrived, and he looked very combative and very at home with the demands of Scottish football, even this early on, which is promising given this is very still early stages, so given that was his performance then.
01:05At a traditionally tough venue with a plastic pitch, what will it be like once he's fully got up to speed?
01:11And then Josh Mulligan came off the bench late on, another of the summer recruits, scoring an absolute belter from about 25-30 yards, following up hot on the heels of Kieran Bowie's worldly-looped effort on Thursday night.
01:25So, Hibbs nice and comfortable, that Mulligan goal came towards the end of the second half, so it was 1-0 for large periods of the game.
01:32They did have to throw their bodies on the line midway through the second half, but really, Livingston didn't really do a whole lot to cause Hibbs an awful amount of concern,
01:41and deservedly went through in the end, was the verdict from both David Gray and Livingston manager, David Martindale.
01:48So, Hibbs now move on in a very positive frame of mind.
01:51They take on Legia Walshaw at Easter Road on Thursday, in the first leg of their Conference League play-off,
01:56the winner of which, over two legs, will go on to the lucrative leg phase,
02:00and six more matches in Europe, which would be very welcome around Easter Road.
02:04So, Hibbs now move on in a very positive frame of mind.
