00:01Welcome, basketball fans. The Indiana Fever's tumultuous season continued Friday as they faced
00:07the Washington Mystics in the final game of a three-game homestand. Unfortunately for Indiana,
00:12they left Gainbridge Fieldhouse with their fourth loss in five games, falling 88-84.
00:19Despite the setback, confidence in the Fever locker room remained strong.
00:23Sophie Cunningham shared after the game,
00:25you can never really control the outside things. You can't control injuries,
00:29and that's why it's important to focus on your mental state and manage what you can control.
00:34The Fever continued to adjust at point guard, recently signing 11-year veteran Odyssey Sims
00:39on a hardship contract due to injuries to Ari McDonald and Sidney Coulson.
00:44Guard Kira Lambert has also joined on a seven-day contract. With Kaitlyn Clark out indefinitely,
00:49the responsibility to drive the team's offense increasingly falls on Kelsey Mitchell and
00:54Aaliyah Boston. Both are skilled playmakers and key offensive threats, but having a true
00:58facilitator is essential for them to shine. Mitchell excels when she plays off the ball,
01:03using screens and cuts to force defenders out of position. But with the team's guards battling
01:08injuries, her workload has grown. Coach Stephanie White praised Kelsey, saying,
01:13Kelsey is just, she's just a baller. I'm incredibly proud of Kelsey because every time we've faced a
01:18setback or an injury, we've had to rely on her more and more. It's not just about scoring,
01:24but also about her playmaking. Her decision-making has been excellent, finding teammates and minimizing
01:29turnovers. She's accepted every role and excelled. On Friday, Mitchell matched her career high with nine
01:36assists and scored 14 points, pushing through tough plays, including taking an elbow to the face,
01:42yet quickly returning to contribute. Meanwhile, Boston's impact, though sometimes less obvious,
01:48remains significant. The instability at lead guard limits her offensive chances, making it tough to
01:53get the ball inside. Still, Boston delivered on Friday, 20 points, nine rebounds, and an efficient
02:008-for-13 shooting night. In her second game with the Fever, Sims looked more comfortable, adding 11 points,
02:06two rebounds, and three assists. Still, the Fever have dropped four of their last five games and now
02:11prepared to face the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, hoping to snap the skid. Cunningham reflected after
02:17the loss, Honestly, I believe that most people in the league no longer see us as a team that can
02:22succeed. However, I have faith in our group and we need to regain our confidence. It's essential for us
02:28to remember our identity. Central to that identity is reviving a strong offense backed by tough defense.
02:34Indiana still has the pieces to succeed but execution is key. Coach White noted a major defensive issue,
02:40too many fouls. Indiana racked up 21 personal fouls, giving the Mystics 26 free throw attempts,
02:4614 of them in the crucial fourth quarter. White remains confident, saying,
02:51The great thing about our position is that we control our destiny. However, we need to grasp
02:55the urgency required and acknowledge that the margin for error is minimal. The Fever now head to
03:02Connecticut to face the Sun, then return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on August 22nd to take on
03:07the league-leading Minnesota Lynx. What's your take on the Fever's ability to bounce back this season?
