00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Cusenbet and this weather that you can see
00:04behind me has been great for a number of reasons but we've been able to enjoy it just a little bit
00:09more because it is ushered in the start of the football season here in Greater Manchester and
00:13up and down the UK. Now while Manchester City and Manchester United season only kicked off this
00:18weekend, Stockport County are a number of games in and are sitting pretty in third place in League
00:24One. They got off to an unbeaten start over the first couple of weeks and looking to maintain
00:28that momentum after missing out on promotion to the championship last year having been promoted
00:33from League One to League Two the year before. Now there's been a great atmosphere at the club for
00:37the last couple of years really. As I say we've seen them climb from non-league right up to the
00:42League One playoffs where they were unfortunate to miss out last year and things are just about to
00:47get better because the council have approved plans to increase the stadium capacity at Edgley Park
00:52by 7,400 seats. Now that's going to bring the total capacity to 18,000 which is a massive jump
00:59and it's going to mean that Edgley Park turns into one of the premier, one of the bigger, the better
01:03stadiums in the division. It represents an investment of around 50 million pounds with new
01:08east and south stands set to be created. Now there have been some delays over crashes with local
01:13environment groups because a car park is now going to be moved onto natural green land which will destroy
01:19some of that work. There was a bit of trauma around that but the council have passed the renovations
01:24despite the protests. So there we have it. It's a very very exciting time to be a football fan in
01:29Manchester right now. It's an even more exciting time to be a Stockport fan but for now that's all.
01:34Thank you very very much for watching Manchester World. We hope these games treat you well and we'll see you again very soon.
