00:08Just a handful of observations the President noted in his ocular of a poorly constructed flood control project in Kalumpit, Bulacan.
00:15That did nothing to mitigate the widespread inundation and misery of residents,
00:20which the President vows to address as we hear more from our J.M. Pineda.
00:24For several weeks, Kalumpit, Bulacan experienced flooding after days of almost continuous rains coincided with the high tide.
00:33All barangays in the town were submerged in flood water, affecting numerous residents and families.
00:38One of the affected areas was Barangay Frances, where the nearby river overflowed due to the high tide and continuous rainfall.
00:45It was only last week that the flood water in their communities finally subsided.
00:49According to the Chairman of Barangay Frances, more than 2,000 families were affected by the massive flooding.
00:56Kasi po, siyempre po, maaano po yung kabuhayan.
00:59Yung iba, nagtatrabaho man, hindi makapagtrabaho dahil walang means of transportation.
01:04Yung iba namang mga tricycle boy, natural, hindi rin makakapamasada.
01:09Yun po yung isang malaking epekto.
01:10Umaasa na lang kami sa bigay ng gobyerno, ng mga private sector na nagbibigay sa amin.
01:17This morning, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with the Bulacan local government, visited a part of the barangay,
01:23particularly the reprop along the river in Porokdos.
01:26This serves as a barrier to prevent water from overflowing into their homes.
01:31The president expressed disappointment over what he saw, saying the flood control project was substandard and unfinished.
01:37Hindi ginawa, ito na naman, the same thing, pag titignan mo yung report sa atin, completed lahat, meron na yan.
01:45Tapos, ito na naman yung quality, madaling-madaling makita.
01:49Hawakan mo yung simento dito, unang-una yung simento, ganyan lang kakapal.
01:54Eh dapat, ano, 18 centimeters, 18 centimeters, mga 18 inches, parang kalsada.
02:00Dapat ganyan kakapal, ganyan lang ang nandyan.
02:01Pag subukan nyo mamaya, hawakan ninyo sa kamay, kayang durugin, malabnaw yung simento.
02:08He also noted that the cement used seemed to be skimmed on, making the structure highly dangerous.
02:14The president also criticized the contractors for not doing a desiltation or dredging in the area.
02:20Dapat, dun na naman, sa kontrata, may desiltation, dredging, completed.
02:27Tignan naman naman ninyo, paano magiging completed yan?
02:29Tignan ninyo, tignan ninyo. May isla sa gitna.
02:33Tinutubuan na ng damo na napaka, masukal na yan yun.
02:40Ibig sabihin, matagal na silang hindi nagdedredge.
02:43Although sa report now, may nagdedredge sila.
02:46President Marcos assured that they will hold accountable those responsible
02:49for the defective and abandoned flood control projects, especially since many residents were affected.
03:14Residents are hoping also that the flood control projects in their area
03:17will finally be fixed to prevent massive flooding again in the future.
