World Humanoid Games open in China  Robots from China and other countries delight cheering spectators as they strut and race during the opening ceremony of the first World Humanoid Robot Games, held in Beijing. Organizers say some 280 teams from 16 countries — for a total of more than 500 humanoid robots — are set to take part in 26 events that include boxing, football, track and field, and service-industry activities from Aug. 15 to 17.
