00:00In 2021, there were 56 notifications made to the Office of Children's Guardian in relation to people that they had.
00:09So this is where they actually have notified you of prohibition notices being issued.
00:14But what's really concerning is that in nearly 50%, so 27 of those cases, the relevant person didn't hold a working with children check to begin with.
00:21Similarly, in 2022, again, almost 50% of people who were issued prohibition orders, so educators and teachers issued prohibition orders for doing pretty serious things, putting children in harm's way, didn't hold a working with children check.
00:38In 2023, 70 notifications, 32 of those cases, 45% of them didn't hold a working with children check.
00:46I think this sort of backs up the point that, you know, for these educators to be in there, and these are the ones that have been found to have done something wrong, they don't have working with children checks in the first place.
00:58These checks are only as good as the way that they're used.
