00:00We've come today to the Goodwood Motor Circuit, the famous Goodwood Motor
00:04Circuit. We're in the Tyrell Shed and I'm joined by Sarah Bullen, General Manager
00:08of Goodwood Revival. Thanks for joining us today Sarah. Just first of all to the
00:13uninitiated, tell us what Goodwood Revival is, what's it all about?
00:18It's just the most unbelievably immersive three-day event that just
00:22celebrates everything that's brilliant about historic motor racing and also
00:27just historic fashion and culture and with a little bit of a modern twist as
00:31well. And we're now quite close to it, we're a few weeks away, we can hear
00:36workmen in the background, we're into what I think is a five-week site build so just
00:41tell us a little bit about that and and how it's going so far. Yes it takes us
00:45five weeks to build the event, one week into that and it all flies up now, it all
00:50goes really really quickly and takes us about two weeks as well to take down so
00:54it's an army of people that come and deliver that build for us, all working
00:59incredibly closely with our operations team to deliver it seamlessly. So yeah,
01:03looking forward to getting to it now and welcoming people here. Yeah and the
01:07million dollar question is, people who are coming to Revival this year, what can
01:11they expect to see and what can they enjoy, what can they do? Obviously there's
01:16some great racing, historic racing to be held but probably a lot more than that as
01:22well. Just just run us through if you can some of the some of the many
01:25highlights that there will be. Yeah I mean the racing is going to be
01:28unbelievable as it always is. The particular celebrations that we're most
01:31excited about this year is celebrating Jim Clark and his amazing career on track
01:36and he's got some unbelievable cars that we're going to be showcasing in
01:40celebration of him at the event. We've also got a VE Day, a really special VE Day
01:46moment on track where we'll have military vehicles, dancers and a whole tea party set
01:52up on the track which the public will be able to join in with as well which we're
01:55really looking forward to. And then opening the track each morning we'll have our
01:59VW Type 2 camper vans, about a hundred of them that will go round around the
02:03track and some really special ones that will join us at our welcoming
02:09celebration at Gate 2 where we celebrate everything towards the end of the
02:12era that Revival celebrates in 1966 onwards. Just the summer of love and
02:17everything about hippie culture so that'll be a really immersive, brightly
02:20coloured and fun space that we're really looking forward to welcoming people to.
02:24And we'll also be putting a stage there for the first time. It's one of ten
02:28stages actually we've got across sites. Another new addition this year is our
02:32stage at Temple Court which is a real homage to mods and rockers, to 60s
02:37counterculture in the UK. So you can expect to see the likes of the
02:42Who and the Small Faces cover bands on stage that really bring that area to
02:46life and so we're really really looking forward to that. And then away from the
02:51sort of the new celebrations we're going to be introducing a new fish and chip shop
02:54this year so we're looking forward to seeing that. We've got our amazing Revive
02:57and Thrive stage which is back again this year and we've got Dita Von Teese back
03:01who's in talks with our host Andy Wellington there and celebrating everything that
03:06she loves about not only vintage fashion but she absolutely loves vintage cars as well so
03:11she'll be talking about that. And again Dom Chenea he'll be in this space in the
03:14workshop here and he'll be celebrating everything about recycling, reusing,
03:19repurposing and all the amazing skills and heritage skills that people can learn
03:24about right here and have a go at as well. So looking forward to sharing that along
03:28with all the vintage fashion stalls, the fairground, the over the road cinema and
03:32there's just so much for everyone to get involved with and get dressed up and feel part of the event and we're really looking forward to everyone being here in a few weeks time.
03:39And the dressing up is very important because everybody really enters into the
03:42the spirit of that don't they? You see people for miles around during that weekend dressed
03:46up and you can tell where people are going if you see them in those costumes. That has really sort of grown over the years hasn't it? That element of it.
03:52Yeah hugely so you can have a good rummage around in the charity shops and find those key little bits and a route around in grandma's wardrobe to find the very best outfits and it's about reusing and repurposing again as I said and recycling and sort of wearing something that would have been worn and keeping it for best.
04:10And keeping it for best is just really important for us. So yeah people really go to town as well and it's amazing it's part of that immersive experience that everyone gets so dressed up and does their hair brilliantly.
04:22We have our own hair salon on site which is taking bookings for the weekend so lots to see and do and really it helps people really feel part of it and have a really fantastic day out.
04:34And importantly tickets still available if people are thinking about it but haven't booked yet?
04:38Yeah absolutely tickets still available and as I say it's great not only for your social groups whether you're into your motor racing or not so much for the family to do as well.
04:48So definitely opportunities for everyone to join us and as I said can't wait to see people over the weekend.
04:53And the Goodwood website is the best place to go to for tickets?
04:55Absolutely www.goodwoodrevival.com
04:58Great well good luck with the rest of the planning and importantly good luck for the weekend itself.
