poinsettia update
Transcript
00:00Hello, everybody. Welcome back. It's been a couple of days since my last video. You remember,
00:15we did the poinsettia repotting, hopefully making it survive the overwatering that we
00:21unfortunately did when we went away last time. Thought we could use a little extra water. Can't
00:27do that with poinsettias. Anyway, today I've woken up to see a bunch of yellowing leaves and the
00:33overall plant was looking wilted. So I watered the plant because it was fairly dry and the water
00:40measuring stick I think was just measuring the new soil moistness or something because it was
00:45clearly dry. I stuck my finger down there and it was dry. So I gave it a little bit of water. The
00:50roots a little bit wet. Hopefully that'll spruce up the leaves. I think I'm going to prune some of
00:54these yellowed out leaves so the plant doesn't strain itself trying to feed those leaves which are
01:00already gone. So I'm going to do that now. So where are my scissors? Let me get them. Here they are.
01:08Head out. And we shall commence
01:16the festivities.
01:24So you know pruning can be necessary sometimes. Some people I think over prune things. I'm really
01:37not into overly controlling plants and other living beings so I let things go as much as I can. If I
01:45need to intervene for the health of the plant obviously I'm going to do that which is what I feel like I'm
01:50doing here. Desperately trying to say this puts it at. Next step if this doesn't work I'm going to
01:57cut the stems and repot them try to propagate those and start a whole new plant because the last time
02:02this happened it all went so that's why I'm so desperately worried about this already. You might
02:09think it looks fine. But you know this amount of dropped leaves is not that good in one day. So
02:15I'm going to cut that one. Some of these things come off really easy. Just pull them a little bit.
02:35I'm going to cut it right out. Now let's get the scissors in there. I always cut the stems and things at
02:4345 degree angles. That helps it absorb moisture and try to live on. What is happening over here?
02:56I think this limb here is taking or this limb here is taking it the hardest goes to
03:03three maybe. But it's all over the planet. I don't know.
03:09You know if it wasn't from my previous experience I'd just say it needs a little bit of water and we're fine but
03:20after last time
03:24you see I pulled that off but I put the 45 degree cut on there. So
03:30I think that just about does it for today with the pruning. I'm going to clean this up and I'm going to
03:40make a video tomorrow just to see how many leaves have fallen. Okay so I took off already one, two,
03:45I don't know, a dozen, 15 maybe leaves. That's a lot in one day you know. So
03:52I see a couple more that are already yellow but I'm not going to go for those today. We'll see what happens.
03:56If there's more than like five petals tomorrow I'm going to be more concerned I think. But I think
04:03the water should make a difference. Okay so thanks friends for tuning in. Hopefully you'll tune in
04:09more to the channel and I will see you soon. Don't forget to subscribe and like. Appreciate your help as
04:15always. Bye!
