00:05What is your take on the current reality inside Gaza in regards to the aid and reported malnutrition?
00:13Because we just heard our former guest and he was saying that aid is going in, but it's been stolen by Hamas.
00:19And the children that we see who are malnutritioned or starving have had former problems before.
00:26Thank you. Thank you very much for having me on the show.
00:28So I think the situation in Gaza is way beyond the word catastrophe.
00:34It is catastrophic by every sense of this word.
00:37For almost two years, an entire population has been attacked, traumatized, displaced, and cut off from any kind of life-saving aid.
00:47The sewage is backflowing. Safe water is hard to access.
00:51Diseases are spreading extremely fast.
00:53And we have evidence for that through the surveillance and through the cases that we're seeing throughout those hospitals.
00:59Children are actually dying from hunger.
01:02Nowhere is safe in Gaza.
01:04Health workers and the humanitarian aid workers have been arrested, mistreated, humiliated.
01:10Our warehouse, the only, and the major, not the only, but the major warehouse for medical treatment has been attacked on the 21st of July.
01:16The level of deprivation is extremely high, nothing that we've seen in any of our previous countries.
01:24So the situation is extremely difficult.
01:27The fact that they're talking about or any inclination that the health system or the health in Gaza was already weak.
01:34The reality is before October 7, the immunization rates in Gaza and the well-being of the children was among the best in the region.
01:44The Gazans are very well educated when it comes to understanding the need and the benefits of immunizations and good food and nutrition.
01:53So what we're seeing today is because of the significant atrocities that are taking place on the ground and the significant destruction of the infrastructure.
02:08I was in Gaza in July 2024, and it was already catastrophic.
02:14And right now it is way beyond description.
