00:07Coast Crime Network. Everyone plays a role. The city takes your heart but it won't take
00:13your soul.
00:14Hey everyone. Welcome back to East Coast Crime Network. I am your host, Cortez Black. And
00:21today, I want to share a powerful story about friendship, trust, and choices. This is the
00:28story of a woman named Milagros. Milagros was born and raised in the United States, the
00:34daughter of African-American parents. She was a bright young woman focused on her studies
00:39and future. At 25, she met someone who had changed the course of her life. Poppy, now. Poppy
00:46was everything Milagros was not. She was outgoing, vibrant, and absolutely loved the nightlife.
00:53It was the classic opposites attract dynamic. And Milagros found herself drawn to
00:58Poppy's energy. One night, Poppy persuaded Milagros to hit the club with her. At first, Milagros
01:05was hesitant. She had a more reserved personality and preferred quieter environments. But Poppy's
01:11excitement was infectious. And finally, Milagros agreed to go along, driving them both to the
01:18club. As the night progressed, Poppy constantly encouraged Milagros to have a drink, insisting
01:24it would help her loosen up and have fun. Milagros turned her down, stating she needed to drive home,
01:30but Poppy promised she'd take care of everything, even offering to park Milagros' car safely.
01:35Against her better judgment, Milagros decided to take just one shot, hoping it would ease the tension.
01:42As more guys approached them, the drinks kept flowing. By 2 a.m., both friends were drunk,
01:48and the club was about to close. That's when a guy approached Poppy, and without giving it a second
01:54thought, she agreed to leave with him. Milagros was shocked. You can't go, you're too drunk to leave,
02:01she pleaded. But Poppy was too far gone and walked away, leaving Milagros behind. Feeling abandoned,
02:09Milagros tried to call a cab. After an hour with no ride in sight, she made a poor choice.
02:14She decided to drive home. It was a decision that would change her life.
02:19The flashing lights of a police car soon followed, and before she knew it, Milagros was pulled over
02:25and arrested for a DUI. When she called Poppy, looking for some support, Poppy blocked her calls,
02:32saying she no longer wanted to be friends. Imagine how Milagros felt, betrayed and alone,
02:38watching her life unravel because of one night, and a supposedly trusted friend.
02:42Poppy had moved on, blocking Milagros on all social media. Milagros had to face the harsh reality.
02:51Not everyone you meet is a true friend. A real friend would never let someone drive drunk.
02:57True friendship means looking out for one another, being there through thick and thin,
03:02and knowing when to step in and say no for the sake of someone's safety.
03:06Milagros realized her mistake in associating with influences like Poppy, who only cared about their
03:13fun rather than true friendship. Eventually, she confronted her circumstances and turned to La
03:19Santa Muerte for guidance. Remarkably, she regained her license and decided to continue her education
03:25online instead of person, enveloping herself in positivity and growth.
03:30This story serves as a crucial reminder for all of you. It's essential to choose your friends wisely.
03:37Real friends uplift you, and they always have your back, especially in tough situations.
03:42So next time you go out, remember to keep an eye on your friends, and importantly, ensure everyone is safe.
03:49Thank you, for tuning in to East Coast Crime Network. I'm your host, Cortez Black, and until next time,
03:58make smart choices, and take care of one another. I'm out.
