The guys analyze what Jalen Ramsey had to say on The Pivot Podcast on his exit with the Miami Dolphins. Was the shade necessary? The guys practice their holy harmonies which summon JFig to question the shenanigans.
Transcript
00:00So Jalen Ramsey was on the pivot with Channing Crowder,
00:04Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor.
00:07And he kind of opened up about the trade
00:13and how the whole trade went down with the Dolphins.
00:17And this is what he had to say on the whole situation,
00:21on how the trade went down.
00:22It was in the works for a little minute, I would say.
00:26So you knew something else.
00:27It was in the works, but things had to get put together the right way.
00:33Things had to come together from my standpoint to the Dolphins, to the Steelers.
00:38I think all of us had to come to a, I guess you could say agreement.
00:42We all had to come to a consensus on what it would be.
00:46I do appreciate the Dolphins and them working with me and David,
00:51not just, hey, this team called and we're going to send you here and this and that.
00:56It wasn't any of that.
00:58It was very open communication with, yo, this is, you know, y'all been good to us.
01:04I've been good to y'all.
01:05Like, let's do it the right way.
01:07Let's go to a team that's going to be able to compete.
01:10Let's go to a team where there's a lot of respect for the head coach in there
01:13and, you know, the staff, a place where I can continue developing,
01:18playing at a high level, maybe be versatile.
01:20And then, you know, I had to let David do his thing, too.
01:25You know, the money was involved, so he did his thing with that.
01:29And then, you know, obviously the Steelers, you know, they really wanted me here.
01:34And, you know, at the end of the day, I wanted to be here as well.
01:36So I just let the, it got to a certain point where I was like,
01:40everything is good on my end.
01:41Let's get the business handled.
01:43Y'all do that part.
01:44And y'all let me know when this will go.
01:46So that kind of took a little, a little minute to get done.
01:49But once that got done, it was, it was like, let's go.
01:54There you go.
01:55That was Jalen Ramsey on the pivot.
01:57Your reaction.
01:58Okay.
02:04I was cool with everything.
02:08But then he threw something out there that would indicate the real reason
02:14why he wanted to be out.
02:16Of Miami in the first place.
02:19So while we sitting here talking about all these nice things and cute and
02:24yeah, respectful and all that.
02:27Why did you have to say, yeah, I want to go somewhere where they respect their
02:31coach.
02:33Right.
02:34The head coach.
02:35Yeah.
02:35Which everybody does respect Mike Tomlin.
02:37Oh, but, but that's not okay.
02:39I get that.
02:40But that's not a dig on Mike McDaniel and why the original situation presented
02:48itself.
02:49It's a pot shot.
02:50Okay.
02:50Okay.
02:50It's a pot.
02:51And the way you know me, I'm the one that always call you off of these things.
02:56I, I honestly, I, I saw, and I know a lot of people noticed it and I, I'm sure it is a
03:02pot shot.
03:02I honestly didn't think I thought for Jalen Ramsey, I thought that was like, that was,
03:06that was shadow boxing.
03:07That wasn't even sparring.
03:08Well, that's because you followed his whole career, you know, and he said some crazy things,
03:14but if everything was Kumbaya and worked on together and, and everything, you didn't
03:22have to throw that out there.
03:24It didn't have to, but in the midst of a, you know, I, I also think he could have, he
03:29could have dove off the deep end if he wanted to, I actually kind of was hoping that he would,
03:33I would, cause I want more insight onto what happened.
03:35You know, like I, you knew what happened.
03:39I don't know.
03:41I mean, Tyree Gill's still here.
03:42Wait, think about it though.
03:46All of the, the, the talk before he got traded as to why he didn't want to be here was centered
03:55around that.
03:56That's what we were hearing.
03:58No, no, we were.
03:59Yeah.
03:59That was reported that him and Mike McDaniel had had a falling out.
04:02Or what he didn't want to be somewhere where they didn't respect the coach.
04:07Well, yeah.
04:08I mean, he wanted to be so like, obviously the, whatever respect that was there, which
04:13seemed publicly for a while, like it was strong, uh, obviously was irreparably broken.
04:19And so I don't know.
04:22I, and I, that's what I'm fascinated by.
04:24It was like, why, why is it that this guy got to a point where the dolphins had to get
04:31him off the team?
04:33That's what I'm wondering.
04:34Cause Tyree Gill's still here and they didn't feel that way with Tyree.
04:38So, so, so somebody just pointed out and I will throw this out there that maybe he had
04:51a problem with the way they handled the Tyree situation and he thought, how are we going
05:00to ever turn this around if guys can just go and do whatever?
05:07I mean, I don't, I don't know.
05:09Like it, it, it all seemed less, let's just put it this way.
05:13All this seemed to start happening after the Tyree Hill situation and how they handled that.
05:20But then all of a sudden off the top rope, uh, Ramsey's like, I'm on out.
05:26I'm like, I'm out.
05:27Peace.
05:27Go ahead, Brittany.
05:28But I don't think that Jalen Ramsey's like has a very high moral compass.
05:32Like, I don't think he has a very high moral ground.
05:34Like we know what he's done in his past career.
05:37And like, well, that was interesting.
05:39Cause it was actually the second part.
05:41There was another part of the interview, which I'll play for you here from the pivot, which
05:44I actually felt, I actually had more of a problem with this than I did the shot at Mike
05:49McDaniel.
05:49Cause like, again, like, I'm not surprised he's going to throw a little wink shade at
05:56it, but this one to me was, uh, was even more interesting.
05:59Cause it's like, oh, well that's not great.
06:02Here was, uh, him on, you know, what, why he wanted to come to Miami.
06:07When, when I got traded from LA, I was like literally praying to go to Miami, like, and
06:13it was probably not for all the right reasons.
06:15Obviously football was has always, and will always be very important for me, but I also
06:22had other things in the back of my mind too.
06:24Like, yo, I want, I want to live in a good city.
06:27I want my kids to enjoy life and, you know, be in the sun, have pool year round.
06:32And this, I want my family to like coming to visit me and this and that it was other stuff
06:37that added on to that as well with this decision.
06:40I'm like, I, I, man, I promise you, I prayed to God completely different than I prayed like
06:47the last trade.
06:48I'll tell you what's the opposite from Pittsburgh and Miami when you pray for the wrong reasons.
06:56Uh, yeah.
06:59I don't know.
07:00Tell me why you have a problem with that.
07:01Cause I don't really see a problem with what he said.
07:03I don't see.
07:03I don't have a prop.
07:04I don't have a problem with it, but I do have a problem with, look, if all the things you
07:12say are true, then you're more inclined to make things work, right?
07:19But for him to all of a sudden end up in Pittsburgh and the reasons why he's in Pittsburgh have
07:24nothing to do with the reasons why he was in Miami, right?
07:27It's just, you're, you're just, you're just commenting so that you can make your decisions
07:36fit.
07:36And, and, and so like, once you say why you wanted to be in Miami, you can't then just
07:45flip the script a couple of years later and say, well, that's why I was cool.
07:51We're going to Pittsburgh because I wanted something totally different.
07:55Like you, you just, you're, you're the one that's confusing like the situation.
08:00Nobody else.
08:01Yeah.
08:02But I think the idea that like, even if you wanted to be in Miami, just cause of the glamor
08:05of Miami and you feel like you're motivated by the wrong reason.
08:09I don't feel like he's alone in that.
08:10I do feel like there's plenty of people who have used this place.
08:13Yeah.
08:13It's intriguing.
08:13Like you think of the no tax.
08:16Yeah.
08:16Like I'll stop.
08:17You think of the sun.
08:18You think of all the things.
08:19Yes.
08:20I fully 100% get that.
08:23Tyree kill basically said that when he came to Miami, that part of the, a lot of the reason
08:26why he wanted to come here was because of the tax.
08:29Yeah.
08:29The taxes.
08:31So just look outside.
08:32Yeah.
08:33Plenty of people are coming out.
08:34Like he, it wasn't like he was coming from Seattle.
08:37He was coming from LA.
08:39Right.
08:39So I, I, I feel like he's just saying, like, I agree with his narrative.
08:45Like he's just saying things because he wants it now to fit his narrative that he's in Pittsburgh.
08:49Right.
08:50He's trying to justify being in Pittsburgh now.
08:53Um, when the last two plays he was in was like beautiful.
08:57Yeah.
08:58Well, like the last, I think when, if you're really praying to God and he's like, if you
09:02want a place with no distractions and no Ashtron, boy, do I have the city for you?
09:11Jalen.
09:12He can go three hours West.
09:13Jalen, we're sending you to Pittsburgh.
09:20You got to play Jesus music.
09:22Oh, no, no, no, no, no, Ashtron.
09:30We're going to replace with steel workers.
09:32Oh, my, Ashtron, you listened to us last time.
09:36Welcome to the snow.
09:38Oh, man, nothing but snow and smog here and not just a bunch of thorns.
09:48You left the ocean for Lake Erie that freezes in the winter.
09:58Such angelic voices.
10:00You guys are great.
10:04Wait, that's all it took to get you on the screen?
10:08You know, I heard the holy music, so I had to come on.
10:13But you know what?
10:14I never thought about that.
10:18Right?
10:19I never thought because I was in Cleveland, then I went to Baltimore, then I went to Carolina,
10:25and I lived in an off season in Florida.
10:28So when Minnesota called, I'm like, I'm good.
10:31Chance to play.
10:33Right?
10:33I never thought about it because I had already played in Michigan, Cleveland.
10:38Right?
10:39So, like, it was just about playing.
10:43Well, I think that's the thing.
10:44It's like, if anything, Tobin, you should be happy that he's gone.
10:46You should be happy about what he said because his driving factor was never football.
10:50Well, I think it's not that I'm happy that he's gone, Brittany.
10:54I guess it's just discouraging.
10:55Like, when he says the Mike McDaniel stuff, it's like, yeah, I kind of knew it.
10:58Like, we knew.
10:59And I know he's going to have pot shots along the way.
11:01That's how it is.
11:02Jimmy Butler is going to have the same way with the heat.
11:05But I'm just like, oh, man.
11:06That's why you wanted to come to Miami probably for Ashton.
11:09Like, that's.
11:10Well, yeah.
11:10I mean, but it's Jalen Ramsey.
11:12Like, what did you think he was coming here?
11:14Because.
11:14I actually thought Jalen Ramsey was coming here.
11:16I mean, like, he did come off of a Super Bowl from the Rams.
11:18I was hoping there was going to be some focus on football.
11:21But I understand.
11:22It's a powerful beast down here to distract.
11:26By the way, I have a tweet here from Colton Pouncey.
11:31Who covers the Lions for the Athletic.
11:33He tweets.
11:35That was the most lopsided joint practice I've ever seen.
11:39Lions dominated both sides.
11:42To which Barry Jackson comment tweets.
11:45Discouraging.
11:46Yeah.
11:48That's not great.
11:51I mean.
11:52As.
11:53That's.
11:54You need.
11:55You need to.
11:56And so today.
11:57When they have meetings before practice tomorrow.
12:00That's going to be addressed.
12:02Simple as that.
12:03Mike.
12:03Who also covers the Lions goes.
12:06Either the Dolphins are really bad.
12:07Or the Lions are just a juggernaut.
12:09Not a great day for Miami.
12:13Barry Jackson then goes.
12:15Multiple Lions beat reporters were mortified by Miami.
12:18Sigh.
12:20Not in a good way.
12:22Not in a good way, dude.
12:23I think the sigh means no.
12:27But like I said.
12:30Until you actually have to deal with it.
12:33You won't know how to handle it.
12:35And I.
12:36I'm willing to bet.
12:38That in these meetings later.
12:41Right.
12:42They are all going to be challenged.
12:44They're all going to be called soft.
12:47And they're all going to be asked to respond.
12:51And that's what.
12:52That's what this is for.
12:53This is the exact reason why you practice against Detroit.
12:58Keep in mind.
12:59Detroit been playing this way for three years.
13:02You've been playing this way for a week and a half.
13:05So.
13:07Like.
13:07Yeah.
13:08It's going to look a little crazy.
13:09But I'm not discouraged.
13:11What is more important to me is.
13:14Let's watch these tweets tomorrow.
13:18And see if these coaches get after these players and say.
13:21We going out like this.
13:23You going out like this.
13:26The mantra is you've been soft for the last three years.
13:29You finally play a team that has some stones.
13:32And you curl up and cry in the corner.
13:34Let's go.
13:36And see how the guys respond.
13:38This is what this is for.
13:41Nolan Bianchi.
13:42Who covers the lines for the Detroit News says.
13:45Jamison Williams.
13:47Lions receiver.
13:48And Ifatu Malafonwu.
13:50Just got into a post-practice dust-up.
13:54Too late.
13:55Too late for that.
13:56Fight during the game.
13:59Don't go meet somebody after the locker room.
14:01After you know already got your ass kicked.
14:03Too late.
14:05That's reality of it.
14:08Like.
14:08There's nothing.
14:09But you have a problem with somebody.
14:10Who want to fight after the game.
14:12Tua is speaking to the media.
14:16He was asked.
14:18It was from Travis Wingfield's Twitter.
14:19Tua's asked.
14:20How do you move on from a tough practice?
14:22He said.
14:22Quote.
14:23You don't.
14:24You face it head on.
14:25Yeah.
14:27Like.
14:27You show all that film.
14:29Show all that film.
14:30Hey.
14:31What part of this is us being tougher?
14:35Put it on the players.
14:36Listen.
14:38They've all.
14:39Listen.
14:40Contrary to popular belief.
14:41All these damn football players on the Miami Dolphins have played physical football before.
14:46Stop acting as if this is the first introduction they've had to it.
14:51Now maybe they've gotten a little careless.
14:53Because of the style of football they've played the last couple of years.
14:58So challenge them.
15:00Challenge them to be more physical and to fight like hell.
15:05And to compete like hell.
15:07Because guess what?
15:08When Dan Campbell first got to Detroit.
15:14The only thing he talked about is how they were going to compete.
15:19Right?
15:20So yes.
15:22You got beat up.
15:24You got bruised.
15:26This is no different than a football game.
15:28I've seen teams get dominated in the first half.
15:30And then go in at halftime.
15:32Lick their wounds.
15:33And come out.
15:33And it's a different game.
15:35You got time to respond.
15:36This is what this is for.
15:39If you want to be a physical team.
15:42Then there's no greater test than playing one of the most physical teams in the league.
15:47You go out there.
15:49And you respond.
15:50So it'll be interesting what these meetings will be like tonight.
15:54As they watch this film getting pushed around as grown ass men.
16:00And then the coaches will challenge them.
16:03Call them out.
16:04Right?
16:04And say, what is your response?
16:08And that'll be an indication.
16:09One ass, cheek, and three toes.
16:11I will beat your ass.
16:12That's it.
16:13Right?
16:14That's it.
16:15But here's the deal.
16:19You'll know after tomorrow's practice whether this team will be tough or not.
16:23Because you'll hear one thing.
16:25And one thing only from Mike McDain.
16:27We got pushed around the first day.
16:28I like the way our guys responded on day two.
16:31That's it.
16:32This is what this is for.
16:35So, good.
16:37I'm glad that everybody's looking at him like, oh, yeah.
16:41It's one thing to talk about being tough.
16:44It's another thing to be tough after you got punched in the mouth.
16:47So we'll see.
16:49Don't lose.
16:50It's another thing to be tough.
16:51It's another thing to be tough.
16:51It's another thing to be tough.
16:52It's another thing to be tough.
16:52It's another thing to be tough.
16:53It's another thing to be tough.
16:53It's another thing to be tough.
16:54It's another thing to be tough.
16:55It's another thing to be tough.
16:55It's another thing to be tough.
16:56It's another thing to be tough.
16:56It's another thing to be tough.
16:57It's another thing to be tough.
16:57It's another thing to be tough.
16:58It's another thing to be tough.
16:59It's another thing to be tough.
17:00It's another thing to be tough.
17:01It's another thing to be tough.
17:02It's another thing to be tough.
17:03It's another thing to be tough.
17:04It's another thing to be tough.
