The Rivian R1T Gen 2 Quad is engineered with an uncompromising mission to give owners the most capability with the lightest footprint. This top-of-the-line electric truck features a quad-motor design, one for each wheel, that delivers an astonishing 1025 horsepower and almost 1200 pound-feet of torque. This power puts it in the top 1% of EV performance, standing alongside the fastest production cars on the road. The second generation boasts a significant increase in range, offering about 400 miles on a single charge, or roughly 370-380 miles when having fun in quad mode. Rivian's commitment to innovation extends to its in-house software, which is updated regularly. Coming in September, new features will include hands-free driving and a "kick turn" that incorporates four-wheel steering to allow the truck to literally turn in a circle, making it the sharpest turn any vehicle can make.

The R1T Quad, starting at about $120,000, is designed to deliver a blend of ultimate utility and modern convenience. The truck bed features a retractable cover and a push-button liftgate that creates a single contiguous surface for easy loading. Inside the bed, you'll find an air compressor and power outlets for all your adventure needs. The front cabin gives you every control at your fingertips. The new RAD Tuner (Rivian Adventure Department) software, functions like an equalizer for your car, allowing you to customize off-road settings for modes like Rock Crawl, Soft Sand, Rally, and Drift. A spacious frunk and offers secure storage for stowing luggage or a week's worth of groceries. This is complemented by a "gear tunnel" underneath the rear seats, which can be outfitted with a pull-out kitchen for camping trips, or used for keeping your golf clubs and other items out of sight.

The second generation R1T Quad features a Tesla-style (NACS) charge port, enabling charging at any Tesla Supercharger, and includes an adapter for conventional CCS charging stations. Owners of the Launch Edition will get unique details like a hidden flashlight in the door (reminiscent of the Rolls-Royce umbrella) and a removable speaker tucked into the center console. After its first round of test drives, the R1T Quad has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. People love its capability and the delightful driving experience on the highway and off-road, proving that Rivian is passionate about what their customers do with their trucks.

00:00This is the Rivian second-generation R1T Quad.
00:07There is an SUV version that is nearly identical to this one.
00:11Rivian's other vehicles are considered luxury, but they're more entry-level luxury.
00:17This is the top-of-the-line, you've fully arrived luxury.
00:22Rivian's approach to luxury is to ensure that its owners are able to go where they want to go,
00:27see what they want to see, and do what they want to do without any compromise.
00:31And what that means is engineering and designing its trucks and SUVs down to every single last detail
00:38and giving Rivian owners absolutely the most capability that there is.
00:42Rivian has always designed its trucks and SUVs in a quad edition, meaning there are four motors, one for each wheel.
00:50What that adds up to is a lot of power.
00:52The first-generation Rivian Quad delivered 835 horsepower.
00:59This one, the second-generation, takes that up to 1,025 horsepower and almost 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
01:07That's the highest number of motors on any EV, and that power delivery puts it in the top 1% of EV performance.
01:14The fastest Corvette, the fastest Bugatti, the fastest Lamborghini, basically the fastest production cars on the road
01:21stand right alongside the Rivian R1 Quad.
01:25In addition to all that power, Rivian has increased the range of the second-generation R1T and R1S,
01:32so about 400 miles on a single charge, a little bit less if you're in the quad and you're having fun with it.
01:40You'll probably end up with about 370 or 380 miles on a charge.
01:45That's still really great range for a four-wheel drive vehicle that delivers over 1,000 horsepower.
01:52Another unique thing about Rivian, especially in the second-generation, is the software.
01:57All the software is written in-house, and it's updated regularly.
02:01In fact, buyers of the second-generation R1 Quad will get updates coming in September
02:07that will give them hands-free driving, what they're calling rad tuning, and a kick turn.
02:14The R1 Quad, either the T or the S, the truck or the SUV, is the top of the line,
02:20but there's actually another top of the line beyond that, and that is the launch edition.
02:24The R1 Quad starts at about $120,000 for the truck and about $125,000 for the SUV,
02:35and the launch edition adds about $4,000 to that price but gives you a few more little goodies.
02:40The company is really passionate about off-road, about adventure, about our national parks,
02:46and about the time that we spend outdoors.
02:48So Rivian comes to the space with this very particular mission to give you the most capability,
02:54but to leave the lightest footprint, and that's why EV powertrains make so much sense.
02:59The Rivian Gen 2 R1 Quad is notable for a couple of details on the rear
03:04that instantly tell you what this car is all about.
03:07And you'll notice that the gear guard's hair is blowing back.
03:10That's a nod to all the power that this truck can deliver,
03:13and it has a 0 to 60 time of 2.5 seconds, which is insane for a pickup truck.
03:22Rivian's mission of ensuring that everything is easy and perfect
03:25extends to the truck bed, which has a very nice little push-button bed cover
03:31that retracts the bed, and then there's a button that you can push to lower the lift gate.
03:36And then notice this panel that came down as well.
03:39What this does is it creates a single contiguous surface here
03:43to make it easier to slide things in or take things out.
03:48Inside, you'll find there is an air compressor.
03:50Over on this side, there are power outlets that will give you access
03:54to plugging in anything and everything you might need to power with the Rivian.
03:58Everything that you expect from a pickup truck is included,
04:01as well as some nice conveniences.
04:03The front cabin of the Rivian is designed to give you every control at your fingertips,
04:09although almost everything is on a screen.
04:12This is our map.
04:13You can change that view if you like, but it's really beautiful,
04:16and the graphics are so crisp and clear.
04:19Tap the little car icon, and you'll get your quick access functions here.
04:23But the real magic is in this icon down here, and this is the all-wheel drive icon.
04:29And this is where you're going to find one of the new technologies called the RAD Tuner.
04:33RAD stands for Rivian Adventure Department.
04:37Their goal is to ensure that everything Rivian's vehicles do
04:42give you the most capability for your adventures.
04:45So you'll notice we have rock crawl, soft sand, rally and drift modes,
04:49and then also all-terrain.
04:51But if we go into the RAD Tuner, we can actually customize our settings here.
04:57The RAD Tuner functions sort of like an equalizer does for a stereo system,
05:02giving you the capabilities that you want where you want them for off-road driving.
05:07There are two additional software sets that Rivian will add starting in September.
05:12One is called the Kick Turn,
05:13and that essentially incorporates four-wheel steering to literally turn in a circle.
05:19It's the sharpest turn any vehicle can make, as well as the hands-free driving.
05:24When you pull the gear selector stock twice,
05:27you will get hands-free driving that will show up right here in the driver display.
05:34In the Gen 2 Rivian R1, T, and S,
05:38many of the driver functions are here in the steering wheel.
05:40But what you see is this really beautiful wood surround and the scroll buttons.
05:45What you don't see are icons or letters or anything that tells you what these things do.
05:52But when you press these buttons and when you roll these toggles,
05:56you will get instant indication of what it's doing.
06:00It is very minimalist.
06:01It's not incredibly intuitive.
06:03So new owners really do need to get a good walkthrough
06:06because the functions can be a little confusing.
06:13On the quick access menu is where you're going to find the Frunk control.
06:17You can tap that, and it will automatically open.
06:21You can also tap it to automatically close it.
06:26The Rivian Frunk is actually quite nicely sized.
06:30It can fit a set of golf clubs.
06:32You could fit a stroller.
06:33You could fit a week's worth of groceries in there.
06:35And it's designed to give you that kind of capacity,
06:38especially in a pickup truck where bed may not be convenient
06:42or things may roll around.
06:43This gives you a much more secure storage for smaller things.
06:48And if you thought that was a lot of space, there's actually more underneath.
06:51Also on the quick access menu are the gear tunnel doors.
06:54And you can tap this one to open the left side
06:57and this one to open the right side.
06:59This is the gear tunnel underneath the rear seats of the R1T.
07:05All R1Ts have this.
07:07And Rivian actually has configured equipment that can fit in here.
07:12There's a kitchen that can pull out of it.
07:14And you can travel with your kitchen stowed nicely in the gear tunnel.
07:19It also will hold a set of golf clubs or other things.
07:22Here they've stowed the charging cords.
07:24But you might be able to fit luggage, tote bags, and things like that in here as well.
07:29It's a really nice, convenient way to carry some things
07:31that are conveniently stowed, locked away, and out of sight of prying eyes.
07:37For the Gen 2 Rivian R1T and R1S, the charge port's in the same place.
07:41But notice that it is a NACS-style or Tesla-style charge port,
07:46meaning you can charge at any Tesla charger.
07:48Because there are so many conventional CCS charge stations out there,
07:52Rivian also includes an adapter.
07:54Buyers of the launch edition will get a couple of cool little details,
08:01including this hidden flashlight.
08:04Reminds me of the Rolls Royce umbrella.
08:06But this is here, and it's available for you when you need it.
08:10And when you don't need it, you can just pop it right back into the door,
08:14and it actually shuts itself off.
08:16You'll also get this speaker, which is tucked into the center console.
08:20You can take it out, you can take it with you, or you can just use it to listen to music in the car.
08:25The R1 Quad just had its first round of test drives with media, and with critics, and with owners.
08:33And it has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews.
08:37People love its capability.
08:39The technology that they put into this shows clearly how much every single person inside the company values what they do,
08:46and is passionate about what their customers do with their SUVs and their trucks.
08:52Driving the R1T and the R1S is delightful on the highway.
08:56It's really impressive on the off-road.
