00:00So, Egypt says it's working with Qatar and the U.S. to revive the 60-day Gaza truce plan.

00:06The Hamas leader is due in Cairo. What can we expect from these talks?

00:12Well, good evening and many thanks for hosting me.

00:16Well, it seems to me that after the Israeli cabinet has approved Thursday night a military plan to take over Gaza City

00:26and then take over the whole of the Gaza Strip, we have been witnessing very serious diplomatic efforts by a number of countries,

00:36mainly Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey now, and also in addition to the U.S.,

00:42who have been working on a new framework to put an end to the war,

00:49to put an end to the suffering of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

00:52Now, whether there will be a deal or not, it will be seen,

00:57but what we have heard about two weeks ago that the gap was still big.

01:03There was still a big gap between Hamas and Israel in terms of the issues of the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,

01:11Palestinian prisoners who were to be released, and also the entry of food assistance into Gaza.

01:18These issues were not breached about two weeks ago now.

01:23We hope that there will be enough efforts by the mediators this time to try to broker a new deal.

01:30Now, about two or three weeks ago, they were discussing a partial deal that will include a 60-day ceasefire

01:39in return for 10 Israeli live hostages and a number of dead bodies.

01:45But I think what we have heard from Steve Whitkoff, the U.S. presidential envoy, a few weeks ago,

01:54I think he indicated that next time there should be a deal, a comprehensive deal, not a partial deal,

02:02a comprehensive deal where Hamas basically releases all Israeli hostages dead and alive in return for an end to the war

02:11and Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

02:13But I think we still have a few issues that have to be dealt with.

02:19The day after, who's going to be governing Gaza?

02:21Israel is asking basically some of Hamas senior leaders in Gaza to exit from the Gaza Strip.

02:43So these issues have to be basically dealt with in order to see a successful new framework

02:49that will put an end to the war and the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza.
