00:00Do you see a point at which Hamas is sort of airbrushed out of the discussions?
00:06Is there a point at which you see them no longer being at the table?
00:09I would never say Hamas is going to be airbrushed.
00:12But what I think you will see is an attempt to do two things.
00:17First of all, to isolate Hamas so that it does not have as much money as it had in its heyday.
00:24What people forget is that in 2022, half of the trucks coming into Gaza had cement and construction materials.
00:34We now know why.
00:35And what we're going to see is an effort to try to persuade some of Hamas's younger fighters that they'll have a better future rebuilding Gaza than trying to attack Israel.
00:49And that may sound like a small difference, but the significance is great.
00:54Hamas is a shadow of what it once was, but it still has thousands of devoted, dedicated, hardcore fighters.
01:04And the goal is going to be to try to shrink Hamas's operational space and its ability to control the Gazan population.
01:13And this is actually where the battlefield is.
01:17It's not kinetic, it's not people shooting at each other.
01:20It's actually people trying to rebuild Gaza against those who are trying to do nothing to rebuild Gaza, but rather just to attack Israelis.
