Transcript
00:00have you ever wanted to take a load off but you weren't really in a position to sit down
00:06well japan-based startup arkellis may have developed a solution for exactly that a mechanical
00:11exoskeleton meant to relieve leg and back pain in those who must stand for long periods of time
00:16the tech was recently shown off at the online only 2021 consumer electronics show they're
00:21calling it the arkellis fx device and it works by strapping onto a user's legs and dispersing
00:25body weight onto the shins and thighs more or less allowing a wearer to sit while in a standing
00:30position something they say could be invaluable to those like factory workers and surgeons who are
00:35required to stand for hours upon hours at a time the whole device weighs in at only around four and a
00:40half pounds and the wearer is able to walk and move around freely while wearing it but maybe the best
00:45part it's entirely mechanical and requires no electricity to power it the device's name comes
00:50from the japanese word for walkable chair and yeah we can see why the arkellis fx is set to go on sale
00:55this month retailing for around five thousand dollars per unit
