00:00On another matter, yesterday, President Trump took bold action to finally restore law and
00:06order right here in our nation's capital.
00:08The president declared a crime emergency in the District of Columbia, federalized the
00:13D.C. Police Department, and mobilized the D.C. National Guard to end violent crime in
00:19our nation's capital.
00:21As part of the president's massive law enforcement surge, last night, approximately 850 officers
00:27and agents were surged across the city.
00:30They made a total of 23 arrests, including multiple other contacts.
00:34Last night, these arrests consisted of homicide, firearms offenses, possession with intent to
00:41distribute narcotics, fair evasion, lewd acts, stalking, possession of a high-capacity magazine,

00:55a bench warrant.
00:56A total of six illegal handguns were seized off of District of Columbia streets as part
01:01of last night's effort.
01:03This is only the beginning.
01:04Over the course of the next month, the Trump administration will relentlessly pursue and
01:08arrest every violent criminal in the District who breaks the law, undermines public safety,
01:14and endangers law-abiding Americans.
01:17President Trump will not be deterred by soft-on-crime Democrats and media activists who refuse to acknowledge
01:23this rampant violence on our streets.
01:26He is going to make our nation's capital the most beautiful and safe city on earth, just
01:31as he promised on the campaign trail.
